- This just isn't our thing. We're not an encyclopedia. And most of those red links are never going to get turned blue. We've already pretty much decided that we don't need articles about every country in the world. There's nothing mission-worthy about Tristan da Cunha or Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. So what good does this do us? Spud (talk) 09:40, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

- Superfluous in comparison to a category containing countries. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 11:46, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
- Completely pointless list of places that we may never have articles on, and which misses out non-independent countries such as Tibet and Scotland. All together now: RationalWiki is not an encyclopedia! Bicyclewheel 14:12, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

- What's wrong with this article, "list of countries" and why do you want to delete it, and where else would we find a list of countries on RationalWiki instead? -- PK2 (talk) 06:11, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
- The answers to your first two questions can be found above. There would be nothing wrong with it on a general encyclopedia wiki. But RationalWiki is not an encyclopedia. As to where else would you find a list of countries on RationalWiki, you wouldn't. As I've already said, it's just not our kind of thing. Spud (talk) 07:42, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

- Does it make sense to have a list of countries we do have articles about? Or is the category sufficient? Also, it points to a few article-less countries which are on-mission for authoritarianism or other subjects. I was semi-considering writing on Equatorial Guinea (a very nasty oil state with coup-related conspiracy theories), while Eritrea is known as one of the most brutal totalitarian regimes in the world. There must be something to write about East Timor, and maybe Qatar, UAE, and Central African Republic too. Whether a list of countries is the best way to record this is another question (we could add the relevant ones to the TODO list), and the list of dependencies seems pointless. - It's probably better to put the countries that are relevant on the to do list, where people might actually look at them.--JorisEnter (talk) 11:22, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
