2009[edit]

December 2009[edit]

  • I found this site a little while ago by following a link on Uncyclopedia.
  • I found my way here after somehow stumbling upon Conservapedia. I have no idea how I came across that storehouse of ignorance, but it changed the way I look at things now. My faith in the human race has suffered. TKEtoolshed (talk) 04:29, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Not sure how I got here. Probably from a link on RichardDawkins.net. I found Conservapedia from Fundies Say the Darndest Things, so it's possible I found this place from there. Anyways, great find. PardreObe (talk) 07:28, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
  • I found out about RW from the Wikipedia article about Conservapedia. Stanley Moon (talk) 02:55, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
  • I, too, found out about RW from the Wikipedia article about Conservapedia. MarcDLS (talk) 14:40, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Used to write implausible phylogenies about animals that don't exist at CreationWiki. Heard about Conservapedia on the Colbert Show. Found RW after I googled some of these morons (Jpatt, Karajou, JacobB, Aschlafly) to figure out if CP is for real. I'm still not sure. Chest Rockwell (talk) 16:12, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
  • I learned of RW from Wikisource, not long after learning of Conservapedia the same way: through the Lenski dialog published on WS. I enjoy copyright problem-solving, and I am still scratching my head over the "freeness" of Conservapedia:Copyright, which to me says, in essence, "everything on here is absolutely free--until we decide it isn't." Except for revocability, the license is quite, well, liberal. --LarryGilbert (talk) 18:45, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
  • During a search for al-med information and issues Citizen Deux (talk) 20:19, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Tvtropes! Former Neocon(that lasted about 3 months after I got unmonitored internet access) who unfortunately lives in Louisiana. Read the site, liked it. -User:Tyrannis 05:05, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

November 2009[edit]

  • I was laughing at Conservapedia, and realized lots were laughing along with me. PhillipA 06:15, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
  • I think I was searching for ID (which I believe) and found this site mocking it. That kind of pissed me off, but then I read the rest of it. I lurked for am while, but finally created an account. At this point I'm trying to figure out whether this site has more bias than CP. Lilfut
  • Turned left at Greenland? Okay, no, really, the truth is I have no idea. I've been lurking here (moar?) since Einstein and Hammurabi went disco-dancing. Only recently have I been sufficiently inspired (read "bored") to make any mischief. I expect to be banned any second now for a 99-44/100ths violation or whatever it's called. --12.17.54.50 00:49, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
  • Stumbled onto christwire.org and found myself deep inside a case of what I now know as Poe's Law (which as hit #1 on google for "Poe's Law" became my landing page here).
  • William Dembski linked to an article on his Search for Search paper at Uncommon Descent and I clicked on it! Dvunkannon 02:33, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
  • Was a "fan" of the "history" "lectures" at Conservapedia a while back, but never delved any deeper into the site. Then the Bible Project brought me back to that great site and discovered the total insanity that it is. Googled the owner of that site and found this place. Lots of fun. Internetmoniker 13:28, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
  • A commenter on Wonkette made reference to "Poe's Law", which I hadn't heard of, and when I Googled it, one of the responses was Rational Wiki, so here I am.Trigley 22:38, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
  • I found this site in the search results of a search engine. I then clicked the link to find out more. I was a science major, so I think I have this site’s point of view. The first page I found was the main page. Chuck marean jr 07:00, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
  • I spent hours banning idiot trolls from this place over at CP, it would've been harder not to find it. --TheRealMarkGall 14:13, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
  • I found the articles on Scientology and Muhammad here to be better than those on CP, and it seemed easier to join here.
    :-D
    Civic Cat 20:11, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
  • I noted that neither SourceWatch nor Wikipedia had a page on the Gish Gallop, and someone clued me into RationalWiki.
  • Trent recommended that I drill a 3/8" hole in my skull to relieve the pressure causing my headaches, thanks Trent! Nuckkin Futz 16:31, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
  • I followed a link from RationaWikiWikiWikisWiki[1] to RationalWikiWikiWiki, which had a link to RationalWikiWiki, and from there I drilled down to an even lower level wiki called RationalWiki.

October 2009[edit]

  • I was doing research on logical fallacies a while back, and was hooked. (An Anonymous Coward)

September 2009[edit]

  • Heard about CP via Lewis Black on Daily Show, typed "Is Conservapedia a joke?" into Google afterwards and found this site. Unfortunately discovered it was not a joke :(... Ren (talk) 01:56, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
  • I was reading Conservapedia for the lulz, and some of my Google searches pointed me towards RW. I can't recall the landing article, but it would have been one of the Conservapedia articles.--Concernedresident 16:34, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
  • I searched Google for information about the Lenski affair. I had read about it in Richard Dawkins' new book The Greatest Show on Earth. Previously I had thought that Conservapedia was merely a somewhat conservatively biased site (a bit like Fox News perhaps). But now I can see that it's a full-blown creationist site and an intellectual black hole. Danish 09:04, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
  • I was shopping for a book on amazon.com, when by pure chance i stumbled upon a heated argument re: the Lensky e.coli paper. One author mused that another author 'possibly has ties to Conservapedia' - which was the first time i ever heard about that site. Took it for a parody at first, btw - and had quite a good time sampling all that seemingly delectable, subtle humour over there. Well - one link led to another, and eventually this page was mentioned somewhere.
  • Probably from WP's CP page. Lost in the fogs of alcohol. CS Miller 20:12, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
  • I found a wiki about Harry Potter, that led me to Wiki and Wikia led me to Uncyclopedia, Uncyclopedia led me to Conservapedia. I had never imagined that something so insane could exist, I searched for some extra information and soon I found Rationalwiki... --Earthland (talk) 21:21, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

August 2009[edit]

  • I kept seeing all the references to a "Vandal Site" on CP, did some research and found all you guys! Still trying to make up my mind whether you're actually serious or not, but anything that takes the piss out of CP as much as you do can't be all bad. SuspectedReplicant (talk) 17:44, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

June 2009[edit]

  • stumbleupon [2] --Scamp 18:25, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
  • I was reading a Cracked article about bastardizations of Wikipedia, which of course had Conservipedia, which lead to Liberalpedia's article on it, which led here. Zeus 20:27, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

July 2009[edit]

  • RationalWiki had my baby. Web (talk) 04:13, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Told by a friend after laughing at Conservapedia for a day. This was the first page I found. 130.216.53.228 22:53, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Looked up "abortion" and "homosexuality" on Google while bored with a philosophy paper. The latter lead to Conservapedia, which was hilarious to no end. Eventually I searched for "Conservapedia" and found RationalWiki. ~ Kupochama[1][2] 21:26, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Found it a while back (6-9 months) through a link on Liberapedia. Which I in turn found through Uncyclopedia.Cade Skywalker (talk) 20:53, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

May 2009[edit]

  • Recently my non-AP History class (it is very common for people with any ambition at all to enroll in AP classes at my school, whether they are capable or not) had a 'debate' on evolution and my somewhat-intelligent-yet-total-wussy teacher decided that every viewpoint was equally valid, including a lot of the ID stuff some chick was spewing. Then one of my best friends (very intelligent yet woefully ignorant Christian) starts talking about how he believes the universe was created in 8 days (whatever happened to 6?!?! 'Good point,' was his response when I pointed this out) and when I start presenting him with arguments to the contrary he says he'd rather not think about it. He even thinks his viewpoint is more logical. Needless to say, I went straight to somewhere where I might find a group of anybody resembling rational people. The name RationalWiki suggested itself. Clepper 14:05, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
  • On my userpage on another wiki, I was creating a link in the style of Uncyclopedia, where it links to something related to, but not the same as, the link text. I decided to make the word "ridiculous" link to the Wikipedia article about "Conservapedia", and it was on that article that I read about this wiki (in the context of its opposition to Conservapedia). -- Sorceror Nobody 18:33, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
  • Ace told me too, and he scares me. But the site gives me many a laugh and something to do at work.....instead of work. Rad McCool 07:18, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

April 2009[edit]

  • PZ - PalMD - here! (but with a lot of lurking)Silvermute 07:09, 5 April 2009 (EDT)
  • RW found me! In June '07 I called a certain Andrew Schafly an "Utter Idiot" and somehow wasn't shot on the spot. I did however find an invitation to join RW on my talkpage doorstep. It lasted about 14 seconds before disappearing, but I began lurking here then. AlanE 20:30, 20 April 2009 (EDT)
  • Someone posted the (in)famous Youtube-Banana-vid on a Dutch atheist site (www.godvoordommen.nl). I dropped the expression 'Poe's Law' and looked for a good explanation via the Ixquick search engine. Well, here I am! Rette-que-tette 15:39, 26 April 2009 (UTC)Rette-que-tette
  • While reading Wikipedia's article about Conservapedia... "Several editors, including Lipson, started another website, RationalWiki." SJ Debaser 14:49, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

March 2009[edit]

February 2009[edit]

  • I think i came across Conservapedia through a link on Twitter. After reading some of the articles on there just made me want to smash all of their heads in with a fossil. I'm afraid right wing christian insanity makes me furious. I am studying geology at the moment so their "Age of the Earth" BS entry tipped me over the edge. Being worried that the rubbish and lies was going unquestioned while searching I came across rationalwiki. Dread to think of the consequences of impressionable children reading their lies and misinformation. 12:01, 8 February 2009 (EST) AngryDarwin
  • I'm fresh off the boat from Uncyclopedia. Fuck this wiki. At least ours is about something. (I'm reading some essays now, and liking them. I may make an account, I may just keep reading.) 173.79.3.121 17:43, 24 February 2009 (EST)
  • I heard about Conservapedia from the Wikipedia IRC channels. I then searched for the site to see what it was about. I peeked in and was horrified by their blatent lies. I went back to the Google results and in the results this website caught my eye.--Ipatrol 22:22, 22 April 2009 (EDT)

January 2009[edit]

  • After discovering Conservapedia, a Google search for 'liberal encyclopedia' somehow brought me here. Upon reading the Guide for the Newly Deconverted, I was hooked. Zaku 07:54, 4 January 2009 (EST)
  • Shortly after the foundation of RW2 - but I can't remember the link.--False Flag 09:33, 4 January 2009 (EST)
    • I hit "reload" 37 times until it came back! ħumanUser talk:Human 02:02, 7 January 2009 (EST)
  • Found this place a while back from the Encyclopedia Dramatica entries on Conservapedia/Andy Schlafly, liked what I saw, and finally decided to join up.
  • I found it after googling something like (Conservapedia) AND (idiots). Perhaps it might have been "Schlafly is an idiot". I can't remember exactly but I'm sure you get the idea. JoeDuffy 05:20, 27 January 2009 (EST)
  • Conservapedia came up in my A-Level Politics classes three years ago, and it was only a matter of time before I found out about RW. Finally decided to create an account this month.KlapauciusEsteemed Constructor 10:42, 27 January 2009 (EST)
  • After coming across Conservapedia, I decided to do some research on Wikipedia to find out what kind of..."people" would bring that mutant wiki-offspring into being. The Wikipedia article on Conservapedia mentioned a counterwiki called RationalWiki, as well as a small and very intriguing origin story. ~Ttony21(talk, contribs) 13:15, 28 January 2009 (EST)
  • In a fit of online boredom, I was browsing FSTDT and came across a quote from Conservapedia. Being the naturally inquisitive person I am, I looked up Conservapedia on Wikipedia, and then found here. brielle 02:34, 29 January 2009 (EST)
  • I was looking for Conservapedia laughs when I stumbled upon the "guide to the newly deconverted." I joined up almost immediately.JSLeitch 12:38, 1 February 2009 (EST)
