RationalWiki talk:Active sanctions
Location[edit]
Having this in userspace doesn’t seem like a good solution, I suggest making it a subpage of all things in moderation. Christopher (talk) 23:23, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Also, shouldn't we make this easy for the whole community to access? It would cut down time wasted explaining things to newer users who may not know of things that happened months before they registered.-Flandres (talk) 01:01, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- Originally I made this just so I could keep track of this for myself. It was inspired by the WP:GS page on Wikipedia. We can totally consider moving this to RW namespace though, although by then it should also be wicked to places such as RW:BLOCK, RW:CS and obviously the Coop since that's where people are likely to go looking for it. - I don’t see any reason not to do it; it concerns the whole community, not just one mod. There’s some discussion that needs to be had on the wording of the sanctions, there are a few small grammatical errors and I think the issue of users with interaction bans voting in coops should be specifically addressed. Christopher (talk) 13:34, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- The wording was just flat out copied from the messages I send affected users. The latter thing I do agree with. I personally expect users that have been IBANned to recuse themselves from voting on coops and ATIM involving the other user, but feel unsure if I want to codify that as policy. Techpriest (I am Alpharius! / / / ) 16:20, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- I corrected the mistakes, hope you don’t mind. Didn’t change the message at all. I don’t see anyone voting against moving this to somewhere more prominent, but I’ll leave it up to you to do as it is currently your page. Christopher (talk) 17:13, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'll clean the page up a bit in general (there's some style stuff) and then I'll move it to "RationalWiki:Active sanctions", unless you have a better naming suggestion. Techpriest (I am Alpharius! / / / ) 21:17, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- That’s probably better than my subpage suggestion. I’d say it would be ready for moving, but I don’t think it’s necessary anymore. We’re not going to get any new sanctions out of the current coop, and all of the current active sanctions have just expired due to Oxy’s retirement. Hopefully the move won’t be needed for a while yet. Christopher (talk) 22:56, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

I spoke too soon, seems like now would be a good time to move this to your proposed name. Christopher (talk) 20:45, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'll move it when I have time tomorrow, it's kinda late rn. Techpriest (I am Alpharius! / / / ) 20:49, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
- @SiriusAnd now it has been almost a week.. Kevs Ping! 10:01, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- I have time today, the only thing I'm not happy with are the short blurbs under the headers. I'll patch those up and move it. Techpriest (I am Alpharius! / / / ) 10:04, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Honestly man[edit]
Sorry to drop some raw truth on you but this page of yours is incredibly petty and bureaucratically officious. I don’t know why you keep it. Sorry man, just my thoughts. I think you’re taking your mod status a little too seriously. It’s not a job, my man. Ace://about blank 10:42, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Civility parole[edit]
I don't think it's well designed. First, we already have users disagreeing on how civility be applied on discussions, with some having less tolerance for insults and perceived toxicity than others. Second, enforcing it relies entirely on what we consider as "uncivil". How do we tally up being uncivil? Is slinging multiple insults at multiple people in one comment multiple infractions or one? Who agrees what's uncivil or not? Is it fair to goad those with civility parole into responding angrily? Do we even need a civility parole? I don't like this sanction at all, and seeing how it's hardly enforced, partially from the vague, confusing nature of civility, and its very concept people do find objectionable. --It's-a me, LeftyGreenMario! 02:14, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- I second these concerns, except that I would say that goading users on civility parole into responding angrily is definitely unfair. It's bad-faith engagement, and essentially drama-baiting. 𝒮𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓃𝑒 talk 03:40, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
Edit etiquette[edit]
Hey, what are the expectations for this page? I think it's something along the lines of any user can make touch-ups to make the meaning clearer or things like that, but the actual lists of sanctioned users should only be touched by sysops or mods. (And speaking of which, shouldn't the lists be separate sub-pages transcluded here so people don't get funny ideas?) --Luigifan18 (talk) 21:07, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
