I'll be beginning the RationalWiki Klingon Language translations today, and hope to have 30 articles translated by the end of the month. Could you please begin a list of the most important 30 articles? Thanks. DalekEXTERMINATE 05:21, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

On the off chance you are serious, try Category:Cover story articles. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 05:24, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
I just realised... there's nowhere on the internet that refutes pseudoscience in klingon. DalekEXTERMINATE 05:25, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Okay, but seriously... since the project has been nominally started, I've been thinking about the idea of translating a few of the cover stories into French. I'm just not sure if it'd be worth the time. I know I could do it to a high-quality standard, and when I'm next at the parents' house.. my mother could copyedit it to perfection. But it'd be a time-consuming undertaking and I'm not sure if it'd be worth it. Do people think we'd ever get any traffic or serious interest? DalekEXTERMINATE 05:35, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
For what its worth our most consistent number one refer for hits is translate.google.com. Doesn't tell us what language though...Tmtoulouse (talk) 05:43, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Poe's Law is the most translated. Tmtoulouse (talk) 05:45, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Then I think I'll translate Poe's Law & Homeopathy, trying to keep the length and high quality of the articles. I'll get them checked like I said before putting them online, and if they get some hits, then I guess the language project is worth proceeding with. DalekEXTERMINATE 05:49, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

How about actually setting up other language editions of Rational wiki and transferring the pages there? --Myrtonos@ 13:37, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Rien ne va plus[edit]

It's nice to see how well the Russian section is coming along and that there's at least one very dedicated editor on the task, but isn't the French section pretty much dead at this point? It consists of a single, stubby attempt at translating an existing article, the lone editor who wanted to take care of this hasn't worked on it for more than half a year, and to be honest, his French skills weren't really up to the task anyway. So, should this still be listed as an active project? Röstigraben (talk) 10:35, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Well, probably not. Blue Talk 23:11, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

This is silly[edit]

Why on earth are we going to include articles in other languages on this wiki? If it is an attempt to obtain more hits then I am sure that  K e n  D o l l  would be proud of the scheme. I am not so enthusiastic and I think we need to have a site wide discussion as to whether it is a good idea. DamoHi 22:57, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

That's already been done, at least once. ΨΣΔξΣΓΩΙÐWeaselly.jpgMethinks it is a Weasel 23:02, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
(EC) We've had multiple discussions. Blue Talk 23:03, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
Where? I thought the discussion would be on this page and it isn't so I naturally assumed there hadn't been any. Any chance of a link? --DamoHi 23:09, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
I think there was one on Trent's talk page, and in the SB, and a forum, but I can't remember exactly what they were called. </unhelpful> Blue Talk 23:11, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
Whilst I agree that it's far too big of a project to attempt a multiple language RationalWiki, I could see some benefit to having a few of our flagship articles translated but still hosted here, assuming of course that we have the personnel to do so. (Language tidbit: The Norwegian word for science is vitenskap, which literally translates as the knowledge cupboard (or closet) - science is indeed the place where all knowledge is stored!) A storecupboard of knowledge? SophieWilder 19:55, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

UI) Having read some of the other discussions I can see that I am very late in coming to this topic. I wish I had followed recent changes a bit closer a month or two ago and I might have influenced the decision somewhat but I see that the mob has spoken. I have registered my protest and I will leave it at that. --DamoHi 23:55, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

I understand that I am coming way too late into this conversation, but could somebody be so kind as to point me to a location where I can have a look at the "other discussions" on this? I would really like to find out what the overall consensus is before I expend any more time and effort into producing any other non-English articles. I am very happy to carry on with them, but not if they are (apparently) not welcome. Hagios (talk) 18:04, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

I translated a few of the articles I started in Hindi here. Interested in a new section?--Mr. Bojangles (talk) 20:30, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Creating a template for a new language project[edit]

Any idea how to do this? I am (very) new to this and currently trying to produce greek versions of some of the most popular RationalWiki articles, so essentially I am looking to create Template:Gr as per instructions. I have a strong suspicion that it may have something to do with me not having permissions to edit pages in the Template space - how would I get permission for that? Thanks.Hagios (talk) 23:28, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

You should be able to edit it 24 hours after you join. TyJFBAA 23:28, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

new language sub-domain[edit]

Hallo there! I'd really like to start the italian project of rational wiki. I wonder if there's a way to obtain a it.raionalwiki.org domain. Sorry for the silly question, I'm a n00b :D — Unsigned, by: UnaManu / talk / contribs

First thing to do: write a pile of articles in the mainspace with a suitable category on them. Second: get an actual community of multiple people working on them - David Gerard (talk) 15:39, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

thank you for your reply. We've just started the project, and we are trying to recruit some people for the translations. If there's anybody interested, here's the fb group of the project ita: https://www.facebook.com/groups/427706977368514/ — Unsigned, by: UnaManu / talk / contribs
