Talk:Andrew Yang
Why is this still a draft?[edit]
Aside from it's short nature this candidate should have his own page151.160.7.53 (talk) 15:10, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
- Probably because it's so short. Lengthen it and see what happens. Avida Dollarsher again 16:01, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
Suggestion for sources for a critical assessment of Yang(‘s policy ideas)[edit]
Hiya, I’ll just post the first suggestion for a source that takes a critical view of Yang’s policy ideas (and also his general approach to politics) here:
- Andrew Yang is not ready to be president, by Jeremiah Johnson, The Medium, March 18, 2019
I’ll add more if and when I come across them and others are of course welcome to do the same. ScepticWombat (talk) 10:05, 24 December 2019 (UTC)
- An additional couple of critical sources:
- Yang Doesn’t Add Up, by John Nichols, The Nation, November 18, 2019,
- Andrew Yang wants to sell you universal basic income. Beware if you have disabilities, by Sara Luterman, Vox, December 19, 2019
- Feel free to add more. ScepticWombat (talk) 05:16, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
pending irrelevancy[edit]
The yang gang is crashing and burning as his support never gained substantial momentum in mainstream politics and his polling numbers remained low. EK (talk) 12:33, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
- I somewhat agree and unless Yang manages to carve out a niche for himself (either within the Democratic Party or as a fringe candidate, or even a combination of both à la Ron Paul), we should consider vaporising the draft. However, I think that this decision can wait until after the November elections.
- Especially in the case of a Biden win, whether he throws Yang a juicy bone or might give a good indication of the merit of a this article: If Yang becomes figure of some stature on the political scene, then he might well merit an article; otherwise just nuke it (I’ve basically added the same sentiment to the talk page of the Buttigieg draft). - I think his unique-ish ideas are sufficiently worthy of a look for him to have an article, but I would not, like, crusade against anyone who nominated it for deletion. We could just delete this article for now(this is admittedly pretty threadbare, and few seem even interested in editing it) and wait till we know more about his future.-Flandres (talk) 20:32, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
Given that he is running a mayoral campaign that seems "not dead on arrival" I think he is now relevant enough to merit keeping this article.-Flandres (talk) 16:30, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
Views on mental illness/homelessness[edit]
I'm surprised his extremely hateful rhetoric towards the homeless and the mentally ill didn't make it onto the article. Unless someone objects, I'd like to add something about that.
(Um, also, hi, first time really posting is something like 10 years? Or more?)
