Oh man[edit]

Problematic issues...[edit]
"Based on the trailer, the movie was nothing more than the typical attack on Anita Sarkeesian that one could see in a typical YouTube comment mixed in with a good amount of psychological projection. The project ran into financial problems, as Aurini had correctly assessed men's rights activists' hatred of Sarkeesian, but overestimated how much money they were willing to part with. This was, of course, everyone else's fault."
Hi - I'm not familiar with Aurini, however I'm fairly familiar with Owen and his commentary on the project. He's not an MRA, he considers MRAs to be as misguided as feminists - and neither are most of his viewers, judging by the comments. MRAs frequently appear and complain about him being artificially neutral and misrepresenting him, though some are fine with it. Considering you're talking about their mutual project here, your assumption that MRAs are the sole/main donors may be flawed.
Also, are you talking about this trailer: watch?v=ROHvvtUcp8I? There wasn't any "attack" to be found there, and you seems to speak rather favorably of "typical YouTube comments" which is... untypical.
Owen has made detailed point-by-point responses to most of Sarkeesian's videos, and successfully debunked most of the fallacies her narrative is built on (though he hasn't been beneath or above making some of his own, as well). The most reasonable expectation is that the movie will continue in that same vein, as a typical deconstruction of Anita Sarkeesian that one could see in a typical YouTube video mixed with some interviews. 84.187.96.221 (talk) 02:00, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
Referring to him as a "White Supremacist" is sensationalistic[edit]
I've watched most of his videos and I don't agree with him on everything, but he's generally an intelligent, moderate guy at least when it comes to race who's main flaw is his ego and how arrogant he looks and acts, but if you actually watch many of them he's not some extremist white supremacist, in fact he defends black nationalists and his views are extremely moderate to what we'd stereotype a "white supremacist" or "nationalist" to be. He did say he was a white nationalist on paper in one video, but then proceeded to criticize them on numerous points.
He even made a video claiming holocaust deniers are wrong and tends to stray away from conspiracy theories common in far-right thought. - NoBody
- What the fuck? The guy says he is a white nationalist, in any way shape or form, and you want to quibble about specifics? - π 02:35, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- He literally says in one video that he is a huge white nationalist on paper. Calling him a white supremacist is accurate. 17:45, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- If you wish to use White Supremacist as a synonym for "White Nationalist" then feel free, but linguistically they are different and more importantly they do evoke different concepts. When you call someone a white supremacist, the generally assumed meaning is someone of the tier of a Ku Klux Klan member going around lynching black people. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTGoJjzXI5U In this video right here he states that the police racially profile black people and that it's a bad thing and states that if white nationalists weren't awful people, they'd say that's a bad thing. He also says hating people for their race is wrong and "pathological". This actually has alienated white nationalists and he's been called a "race traitor" and other WN strawman variations of that in the comments of many of his youtube videos. In his one video where he says Jewish conspiracies are bullshit, numerous people have accused him of being a "Jew lover", "shill", "good goy", etc. My point is the guy isn't some extreme neo-nazi and the labels given will give people the implications that he is something along those lines. He's also criticized Fascism and Nazism as "childish". He has relatively unique views with regards to race. - NoBody
- Neo-Nazis call each other "Jew lovers" and "race traitors" at the drop of a hat. Godwin's Law In Reverse notes that as a neo-Nazi discussion progresses, the probability of someone calling their opponent a Jew approaches one. Aurini may have perfected the art of pissing off absolutely everyone, but it's not clear indulging fine demarcations that don't actually make any practical difference means anything. But I've changed it to "white nationalist" since that's what the video says - David Gerard (talk) 12:50, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Will this be updated?[edit]
Considering the merry mayhem that's been going on regarding critics of his precious film (OK, it's mostly Jordan, but he's still participating)
And the fact that he may very well be serious about releasing The Sarkeesian Effect, I'm surprised this page hasn't been updated. — Unsigned, by: 68.146.50.218 / talk / contribs
- That's not Aurini-specific, and probably belongs on Timeline of Gamergate. The section's a bit bloated for this article already ... but it's the place where it's most detailed. Hmm, tricky one - David Gerard (talk) 22:57, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- ok, how about the fact that the Sarkeesian effect has a release date of July 31st, to coincide with a gamergate meetup, and there's already some differences of opinion with those two? I can't link it on my phone right now, but check ganerghazi. — Unsigned, by: 184.151.222.20 / talk / contribs
- Updated with present hilarity - David Gerard (talk) 09:33, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
Aaaaaand now he's posted the first 40 minutes of the Sarkeesian Effect. Not touching it with a ten-foot pole, but here's the Ghazi link. https://www.reddit.com/r/GamerGhazi/comments/3dc6pa/aurini_decides_to_release_40_mins_of_his_rough/
The movie's premiered! Huzzah! — Unsigned, by: 184.64.96.60 / talk / contribs

Holy shit[edit]
Dick Coughlan on Aurini: [2] and [3]. The second needs editing, the first is amazing, and the Aurini podcast it quotes, concerning who you should use "game" on, needs transcription and propagation. This actually lowered my opinion of Aurini - David Gerard (talk) 13:14, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- I think it's this one. It's an hour of Aurini ... - David Gerard (talk) 13:39, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- Here we go: why Aurini isn't invited to any more family barbecues:
1:14 We have game, which is certainly useful. It's a skill that every man should have to some degree or another. You don't just use it for picking up sluts in bars, okay, this isn't pick-up artistry, it's just how you relate to women. 1:31 You use game, yes, to meet girls at bars. You also use it with your wife. Or even your nieces. A man with game, y'know, knows how to relate to women. And even little girls are still, they are little women. 1:49

- Might be the Coulter effect. Say enough hateful, crazy, outright laughable crap and someone might give you some attention. Even if it's just enough to make fun of them for being an idiot...it's better than being ignored. I got through a little before I felt weird listening to it from the public wifi. -EmeraldCityWanderer (talk) 13:57, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- Don't you have headphones?--Arisboch (talk) 13:58, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- Yep. Still weirds me out sitting in public listening to someone justifying things like pedophilia with his own family. -EmeraldCityWanderer (talk) 14:01, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- Well, that sounds more like justifying the psychological manipulation of anyone female around you, but it sounds creepy enough.--Arisboch (talk) 14:04, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- Very true. In the same thought he is talking about manipulation of those he wants to bang like a rabid seal and his own small nieces. I know it's a bit of a jump, and not explicitly stated, but it's pretty weird to me. -EmeraldCityWanderer (talk) 15:00, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
- I'm sure he couldn't possibly have meant anything actually paedophilic ... oh, what's this? "Heterosexual male attraction to youth and innocence? Pervert. Furry other-kin? Normal." Um, ok - David Gerard (talk) 21:43, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Holocaust Denier?[edit]
As I was watching Thunderf00t's videos for research, his attacks on Aurini seem to suggest that Aurini is a holocaust denier. Is there enough to substantiate this claim? Zero (talk - contributions) 03:53, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
- He's probably played it down. It would not even be anywhere near the most reprehensible thing he's said, however.
- I am so sorry you dredged through Thunderf00t. More interesting is his sudden need to dissociate himself from The Sarkeesian Effect - didn't he talk it up before? - David Gerard (talk) 12:34, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
- The movie? As far as I know he kept quiet about it until it came out. So no, I don't think so. Zero (talk - contributions) 20:04, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
The racial pontifications are awesome[edit]
Holy shit, this thing. This is a cut down version of an Aurini rant about the Jews, with commentary in captions. Maybe it could be done justice with a transcript of the original. But I'm still just going :-O at this - David Gerard (talk) 00:43, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
