Talk:God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness
Question[edit]
Why would the church building's presence be deemed unconstitutional - given that the university will have to provide pastoral care for the students? Besides it would be more practical to go after the company which laid the gas pipe that fractured so easily and caused death and destruction (corporate manslaughter - consider the results if there had been a service in progress). - It makes no sense. Lots of US universities have chapels that care for students (this includes public/state universities as well as private universities who can do what they like), but it appears that the church in the film is just a regular church in a building owned by the university. This doesn't make any sense either, as lots of universities own all kinds of properties: as investments, or buildings not required for teaching, or whatever. --Annanoon (talk) 12:55, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- (Original message reworked slightly for clarity)
- As I am familiar with the UK system things might be different.
- The university might well see a funding opportunity - donate towards the rebuilding of this church (and have a genuine (fancy plastic) plaque added to the walls).
- There is an inconsistency in the text - 'the church gets torched' and 'a gas pipe gets shattered.'
- If a gas-pipe is involved - what could the pipe-laying company have been charged with under US law? There was malice aforethought by a third party (and the brick-thrower is guilty of criminal damage leading to a death), but if the pipe was that easily damaged there were obvious possible risks for fracture of the pipe (which would depend in part upon its location and might well include church repairs with scaffolding which lightning runs down and arcs to the pipe) which should have been designed against. Create a BIG God's Not Dead article?[edit]
Hello RW. There are currently four God's Not Dead movies, and I think it would be best to list them all as one article about the franchise, as opposed to three (or four once We The People is covered) articles. Similarly, the article God's Not Dead 2 is quite short, and could be reworked as a section on one large article. That article could also cover the theme song from the Newsboys, plus "Guilty" and other related songs. Yes, I oppose the films. They are poor quality and full of straw man arguments. That's why I believe that one large article would give better justice to the topic. --LABcrab (talk) 20:03, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- I'm in favor of this. The content is stubby on its own pages, but would be great as sections as part of a larger whole. armed_roomba (she/her)What am I doing wrong this time? 20:11, 18 November 2021 (UTC)

- They don't seem very short to me, but a comparative, big picture look at the franchise would be interesting, since the first three all suffer from persecution complex and make grievous errors regarding separation of church and state, and it seems the fourth does too. It might also be a good chance to talk about their production company, Pinnacle Peak Pictures/Pure Flix Films, who also made Unplanned. Something for RationalWiki:Duplicate articles maybe? - I merged all three into God's Not Dead. —cosmikdebris talk stalk 15:29, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
