His murder[edit]

No words on how he was murdered and by whom? E.g. I heard Farrakhan being called "X-Terminator"--Arisboch (talk) 23:11, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Well, this is a wiki, so feel free to expand :-) Carpetsmoker (talk) 23:42, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

That quote at the top of the article[edit]

What do they call a black man with a PhD? A nigger.

This appears to be apocryphal. Closest source I find is here which says

In defending the intellect of a first Black president—Barack Obama—who had come under caustic critique by some media channels for his policies, a December 2011 blog post article cited a quotation representative of the language, style, and poetry depicting, honoring, commemorating, and eulogizing Malcolm X. The blog cited Malcolm as stating, “What do you call an educated negro with a B.A. or an M.A., with a B.S., or a PhD?” The answer? “You call him a nigger, because that is what the white man calls him, a nigger” (DeVega 2012).

I can't find a definitive source for the quote, though many have attributed this quote or some variant of it on the net. Can anyone identify a primary source? If we can't properly atribute this quote, it should be removed. —cosmikdebris talk stalk 03:36, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

I've removed the quote. Christopher (talk) 12:32, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

Atheophobia?[edit]

That comment "even an atheist can be a black nationalist" reflects atheophobic sentiment, but is it relevant enough to add as a category? The context is that Malcolm X was arguing for an alliance of black people of various faiths, or lack thereof in this instance. The atheophobia is not the point of the statement, but it's still there.
