Full confessions...[edit]

I decided to write this article after being sort of depressed at the state of the article on the same topic at Wikipedia, so I have decided to make it even better here, since I can add all sorts of snark and little titbits that will help more people grasp what it really is, because many of the sites are biased against it without really analysing its methodology, which is actually fine really. — Unsigned, by: Sqrt-1 / talk / contribs

Naked Capitalism[edit]

Naked Capitalism is *definitely* Russian propaganda. Look at this for example:

https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2023/11/ukraine-end-game-putin-and-medvedev-discuss-maps-putting-kiev-on-the-menu.html https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2024/02/ukraine-collapse-starting-what-happens-next.html

Not only is the narrative severely one sided, but it also uses Russian propaganda terms like "SMO" and refers to "parts of Ukraine that voted to join Russia" as fact. All of the approved comments are typical Russian propaganda talking points also. Perhaps it has a high factual reporting rate for financial matters, but anything related to Ukraine is simply naked Russian propaganda. It routinely quotes SCOTT RITTER and prominent Russian propaganda Twitter accounts like "GEROMAN" and "Lord Bebo". — Unsigned, by: Dargrodal / talk / contribs

You can be a vatnik without being a full Russia propagandist. I don't see any reference Googling regarding Russian influence in Naked Capitalism, so without any further information (not having seen this site at all before) other than the Wiki page on Naked Capitalism and other references, I assume that this is more of a Glenn Greenwald type situation where Susan Webber's paradigm has lead to some questionable takes on the Russian invasion, instead of being a full-on Russia propaganda site.
I really don't think we need a bullet-point list of questionable website inclusions, however, given that the list as a whole has been widely regarded as a bunch of bullshit, and several outlets scolded the Washington Post for giving such obvious crap the time of day.[1] I mean, a few sites like Zero Hedge and YourNewsWire in the list are known to spread Russia propaganda, but there's weird inclusions all over the map that are not known for that, not just leftie sites like Naked Capitalism. Though I'm hardly a regular viewer, I don't recall seeing or hearing about anything suspiciously Russia-propagandaish in the Drudge Report, Lew Rockwell's crapola, Gaia Inc.'s New Age woo, and the universe of Ron Paul. Why this article focused on just four other sites in that bullet point list is a mystery to me. BobJohnson (talk) 17:18, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
