This article is still a mess and reads like one person's opinion about a website he doesn't like. It should be deleted. — Unsigned, by: / talk / contribs 21:51, 29 September 2012‎ (UTC)

All The Tropes is back up on the Miraheze service[edit]

Leaving this in case you guys want to redirect any links to a working site. Arcane (talk) 21:23, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Any Tropers out there?[edit]

That is, is there any RW editor who is also present there for more than simply browsing pages for hours? --Panzerfaust (talk) 21:36, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

TV Tropes as a drug[edit]

If I asked you to take meth for a year or read TV Tropes 12 hours a day for a year then stop, which habit would it be easier for you to break? — Unsigned, by: Doublethink / talk / contribs 19:39, 19 November 2018‎ (UTC)

"Political articles" section[edit]

That entire thing (especially the third paragraph) feels like another irrelevant POV-pushing "what I like" section. According to the fossil record, it was written in 2014 by a single user and was never really updated. Thoughts about removing it? GeeJayK (talk) 15:21, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

I can't see 2014 TV Tropes history, but that paragraph is in my opinion quite incorrect based on the current (2021) TV Tropes articles they reference. No issues with nuking, politics isn't what TV Tropes is known for at all. PanGalacticGargleBlaster (talk) 20:42, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, I meant the "Political articles" section was added here in 2014. I'll wait for a day or two and maybe remove the section. GeeJayK (talk) 20:59, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
Also, it's wrong: The Democrats *aren't* equivalent to a European right-wing party because they want immigration and they're pro-LGBTQ+ rights. The whole "Democrats are literally Conservative in Europe" meme is not so much oversimplified as it is wrong, and a section based on that premise can't be saved.—Chbarts (talk) 22:15, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I was meaning that this section may have been true in 2014, but it's clearly untrue now. The Michael Moore article doesn't seem to be negative now (more neutral), the Rush Limbaugh page seems to be neutral in tone, not warm and fuzzy, and does not sympathize with global warming (properly labeling it as a "conspiracy theory"), and the political system page on "Democratic Party" clearly notes that the party is more right than the Western "left" standard, so that whole second paragraph is bunk. Actually, while I can't view TV Tropes history on their site, (no login), the pages in question really aren't that different from their 2014 incarnation using So I have no idea what this author was on.
Chbarts: That paragraph being crap aside, and yes the "Dems are Europe right" is an oversimplified meme, yes. But some parties considered center-right in Europe (say, Merkel's CDU) also supports LGBTQ rights and supports immigration (well, sort of, which is the same as some Democrats too) and honestly to me are roughly in line with the centrist Democrats here. Yes, the Dems obviously aren't far-right populist shitheads like the AfD or the National Front National Rally, that's currently the Republican's role. :p What the Democrats are also not are parties like the various Greens around Europe, or Germany's The Left. (The expanded progressive Democrat wing admittedly throws a new wrinkle in this, they are a bit closer to the Europe left. Call the Dem party a "coalition" now.) PanGalacticGargleBlaster (talk) 22:31, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
Also, "Democrats are left wing because of LGBT rights and immigration" is an example of cherry-picking, as the party broadly supports neoliberalism which is an economically right-wing ideology. Plutocow (talk) 22:40, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
I removed the section. If anyone disagrees, please, revert and ping me here. Not sure when I'll have time to answer, but someday somehow I will. GeeJayK (talk) 18:32, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Removal of their RW article[edit]

Does anyone know why the Tropers' article on the wiki was removed? Vee (talk) 20:38, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

I think they deleted most articles on Wikis. GeeJayK (talk) 20:39, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
Oh? How come, if you don't mind me asking? Vee (talk) 20:40, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
Here. GeeJayK (talk) 20:42, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
