Reasonably, wouldn’t the blackmail just be enough for the AI? As you said, no good, no power can come out of torture. Nothing that will help the AI achieve its goals faster. For an AI that is supposed to be beyond human intelligence, torture is just petty. Would you agree?--2603:7000:1702:99CE:74FD:7B8:3BDF:B85C (talk) 14:49, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Personally, I agree that there would be no reason for the AI to torture; but Roko argues that it would. There's a copy of his original post on this wiki; he can explain himself better than I can. I think you can reason through the problem to conclude that the AI shouldn't punish under any circumstances, making the threat empty and thus ignorable. On the other hand, I have essentially no familiarity with CEV, so maybe there's something in there that supports Roko. 68.56.144.8 (talk) 22:15, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

I actually have three, but the first I don't remember the username, the second I lost the password, and the third, well... I don't really have any particular reason not to be using the third. I suppose I'll use it more consistently with time, especially as lose patience for the CAPTCHAs. 68.56.144.8 (talk) 23:16, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
What was your name back then? Kevs Ping! 12:10, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Omicron, but I was active for less than a month (Dec. 2019) and you'll find that I didn't do anything particularly interesting. As I noted, the first time I don't remember; that would have been back in probably 2015 or 2016, and my activity then would have been comparable to what it was in 2019. 68.56.144.8 (talk) 01:34, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
@68.56.144.8 Then create a new one!! Come up with a different name; have fun with it! "OmicronReborn" or "Omnicron" or some such. You could even create links and claims pointing to your old account. --Bertrc (talk) 02:05, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
@Serene / @Omicron - Hey, is this you? You got your password back! (I would have preferred "Omnicron" to "Serene" as a new name. :-P~ ;-) )--Bertrc (talk) 21:14, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
It is me. 𝒮𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓃𝑒 talk 22:53, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
