How to create topic on Saloon Bar[edit]

This sounds like a crazy question, but how can I create posts in the saloon bar? -- SixtyNine

New topics go at the bottom of Saloon Bar (so your question goes at the bottom of this page, not top). I also assume Saloon Bar is semi protected so you probably can't edit until you have at least autoconfirmed here. --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 04:41, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

What is this even used for[edit]

Why tf there a talk page for a talk page. lmao. ❣️ A S E L A ཊལྐ ❣️ 02:04, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

I agree, it's a pointless page. It just calls to be vandalized because there are so few edits that vandals will have their name popping up in the fossil record. MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 17:05, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
I assume it's used for that Ardbeg advertisement on top. Man, got to go buy me a bottle tomorrow. Knight CommanderIn ServiceTo HerGoatness 17:12, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

It's tempting to respond[edit]

But this person's end game is to spread views and disrupt Saloon bar. I still recommend ignore, revert, block. If you respond with a lengthy post, I appreciate the effort of some responses but just don't waste it on those wanting you to waste effort. Anyway that's my feeling. If a mod doesn't like my suggestion and think I'm overstepping, let me know. --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 17:09, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Is this directed at me? MirrorIrorriM (talk) 03:45, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
No, it's directed at Ken. He's been spamming the saloon for a while now...-Flandres (talk) 03:48, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

This is my first time signing up for a wiki of any type, and have a few questions:

1: May I add a joke with my username under the RationalWiki section of the 'You have two cows' page?

2: Is there any way I could potentially be helpful? My main personal fixations is really anything relating to neurodiversity and/or LGBTQ+ (think Autism Speaks, Judge Rotenburg Center, etc etc)

I think that's it, as I'm going to look over the RationalWiki pages about- well, RationalWiki and learn what to do. (Hopefully I did this thing right, I have no clue)

(Also, this is in this part because I have no clue how to talk on the main saloon) — Unsigned, by: ThatOneGoblin / talk / contribs 00:24, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

Maybe you could start out on Wikipedia itself, this place is a bit notorious for getting heated. Wikipedia can be great for getting tips too, places like Wikipedia:WP:TH are quite useful for answers within an hour. Remember, sign with four tildes ( ~~~~ ) to sign your posts on dedicated talk pages, only at the end of your post. (talk) 00:10, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

A Humble Apology[edit]

Hello again, I am sorry for the arguement I caused in the main page, and now it seems I can no longer continue my proposition there. If I am no longer allowed to edit on the main page, then I am sorry for the offenses I committed.

I would like to re-orient the dialogue towards a more productive end, mainly a proposition for a conspiracy theory that I think is significant enough for a page all on it's own: the "Rothschild owned central banks conspiracy.

I apologise that I am being so repetitive, but I think this conspiracy theory is important due to it's frequency and place in the conspiracy theorist and all too often the anti-semitie's lexicon. As stated before I do not possess the personal ability to due this topic justice on my own, but I think this conspiracy must be totally critiqued for the aforementioned reasons. I hope this proposition goes somewhere. (talk) 20:23, 14 July 2021 (UTC)An Advocate

Don't worry about the argument, it's not your fault. As for not being able to edit the page, I take full responsibility for locking it due to a troll. ☭Comrade GC☭Ministry of Praise 20:41, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
More my fault than yours. Both of yours. Never feel guilty for the actions of others. I just hope we didn't scare you away... Cork (talk) 20:46, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Don't worry, you didn't scare me away. I just want to help RationalWiki, and I think debunking this theory will help improve the site. If you do not consider it significant enough to merit it's own page, that is fine, but I believe it does.
Thank you for your apologies. (talk) 20:57, 14 July 2021 (UTC)An Advocate
Feel free to make a user for yourself, so that as you contribute and it becomes clear you aren't completely insane, we can refer to you as something other than a Bunch'o'Numbers (BoN). Cork (talk) 21:04, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
For the record I agree that the Rothschild conspiracy is big enough that we could probably improve what we have on it. Takes a good block of time, unfortunately, to do that, but I'll keep that in mind when I get a large enough chunk. PanGalacticGargleBlaster (talk) 21:14, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Citation styles?[edit]

If I'm citing a peer-reviewed study or journal article or whatnot, is there a preferred citation style? I prefer APA, but sometimes MLA is the first thing presented to me if I hit "cite this article" and my laziness takes over. Quantumgeek333 (talk) 01:08, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

I don't think there is a preference. If there were, it would be here. 𝒮𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓃𝑒 talk 01:11, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
No preference. The citation is what counts. However, using a consistent citation style (in your article or whatever) is more aesthetically pleasing. LeucippusSalva veritate 01:22, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
