Hello![edit]
Hello and thanks for the welcome! How come I became Sysop so quickly and painlessly? :P Anyway, I'll write something in my profile ASAP :) --Maquissar (talk) 22:02, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi buddy. I'm around. 22:17, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
One of Us! One of Us![edit]
It is alright to admit you can't do it on your own. You can come home and we won't think any less of you for it. All you have to do is say sorry and we will let you in. Imagine it, Ace McWicked Senator for New Zealand. - π 21:30, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

- You'll get lower taxes. - π 21:47, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sure we'll get lower taxes but the NZ collective IQ will also get dramatically lowered and we'll also have to face the collective scorn towards Australians by the rest of the world. Acei9 22:45, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
- It would be much fairer, that way fellow New Zealand's can contribute to the dole payments of Kiwi's living on the beaches in Sydney. - π 00:30, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- So wait, a pretend continent takes over a few barely-mapped islands a thousand miles away and is going to ship cash to them? Somehow I doubt it. Face it, all they want is flightless bird eggs with no tariffs. ħuman 01:05, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- If NZ becomes a state of Australia, then yes. - π 03:25, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Cheap eggs, yes! Virtually content-free article, not so much. Free the whales! ħuman 03:30, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- I keep up with US politics, so you can learn a bit about Australian. The Australian Federal Government collects revenue through its Goods and Services Tax (GST). This money is not spent by the federal government, it is given to the states based on a little understood sharing program. The sharing is not dollar for dollar because nobody tracks back where it all came from. So it is proportioned out based on population and the always mysterious Commonwealth Grants Commission, which is suppose to be one infrastructure needs. (Each according to their abilities, each according to their needs). The scheme overall ends up shifting tax money from the larger economies to subsidies the smaller economies. NSW and Qld actually both are paying in more GST than they are receiving back, but a lot of that comes from tourism the other states don't (and can't) get any way (there is only one barrier reef and one harbour). If NZ was to join Australia it would be the fourth largest state in terms of its of GDP and so along with it greater infrastructure needs (it is another island a long way away) it would probably become a GST revenue sink like Tasmania. The main advantage Australia would gain is we would have a better rugby team. - π 03:46, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the informative - and amusing! post. Glad to see we are all still maintaining a sense of humor over this atrocious imperial grab for cheap sheep. ħuman 06:08, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Fuck all you shifty eyed worthless Aussies. You people are a dying beed, soon to wind up as washed up petrol sniffers and cheap hacks bent on scrubbing Nicole Kidmans shiny clit so you earn a dime for some cheap Rye. Acei9 06:20, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Good morning/Afternoon/Eveing Ace, and Welcome to the Controversy! Would you rather fuck a sheep or an imported kangaroo? Would you rather be a hammer or a knail? Would you rather be shot or a shotglass? ħuman 06:47, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

trying to remove disorder reference, phone screws edits up Tweety (talk) 21:06, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- If you mean increased tendency to metal disorders as homosexuality itself may constitute a form of developmental disorder. this edit I don't see it as too problematic. Acei9 21:09, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- It is homophobic and against scientific consensus Tweety (talk) 21:11, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know about it being scientific or not but its certainly not homophobic. Perhaps discuss on the talkpage? Acei9 21:12, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- Homosexuality is no longer consider a disorder. Additionally, it is the kind of bull spouted by homophobes, so should be kept off a rational site. Tweety (talk) 21:16, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- Mentioning what has/is said about homosexuals does not always hompophobic. For example they idea of homosexual sex makes me cringe but saying that does not mean I am a homophobe. I'll see what I can do about that edit. Acei9 21:19, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- I think I cleaned up the mishmash that was there enough so that it isn't homophobic. Take a look. Lord of the Goons The official spikey-haired skeptical punk 21:22, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

As a man who knows things that a man who knows things should know[edit]
What is the deal with the huge fall in our unemployment lately? Is it real or is it just a case of fiddling the figures to put people who would normally be classified as unemployed onto sickness benefits etc? I wouldn't trust Paula Bennett as far as I could throw her (around 10 centimetres I suspect) but is National actually doing something right? As our man deep in the corridors of power perhaps you could throw some light on the subject. --DamoHi 02:33, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
- Remember though, they have redefined the benefit so the "fall" in figures may just represent those who got kicked off because they no longer qualify. Tricky eh? I got wind of that massive increase of tobacco tax a few days before it happened and thought about stocking up but, really, who cares. Nothing I can do about it and I'd just smoke 'em all anyway. Acei9 07:26, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes I think the Nats should be a little careful, lest they lose an unloseable election in 18 months. If they insist on raising excise taxes, mining and are seen to be pandering to the Yanks in Afghanistan I suspect their large majority could diminish, particularly if Labour gets rid of Goff. --DamoHi 07:50, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Ello there. You voted in the famous Lumpy Jerboa bi-election, but there's some confusion as to who voted and who just commented. If you only intended to comment, can you modify your post on the RationalWiki:May 2010 Loya Jirga by-elections by adding a strikethrough tag to it? e.g.
<s>My earlier comment</s>
You can leave your post as is if you were actually voting.

Troll IP blocks[edit]
I reblocked the 86.40.*.* IP for 31416 seconds - it's a dynamic IP on Eircom, Ireland's largest ISP, so tomorrow that IP will be a different person, and the troll will be on a different IP - David Gerard (talk) 14:03, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

- You know, easier to just ignore the prick and rollback anything that he posts - forever. Acei9 09:46, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- It's the easiest way. Starves them of the attention they need to work. I mean, MC has been pretty active over the past few days, but this calm and quiet way of dealing with it seems to be working - I've hardly noticed it. However, I reckon blocking the range for an hour might be worthwhile whenever it posts again. It stifles the activity and maybe would encourage it to go away. d hominem 09:49, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

- Yeah well, I do it everytime he comments and will continue to do so. If anyone has an issue with it they are more than welcome to approach me and voice displeasure. Acei9 09:55, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- CS says that we can revert and delete without discussion if it's attacking. I think this could be extended to talk fine. While I totally agree with Ace there, the 1 hr blocks are short enough so that the impact on innocent users (and potential for abuse) is negligible while it's also long enough to get them out of our hair and "take the hint". d hominem 09:56, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- To be frank, I am surprised and a little uneasy that this conversation is happening again. We got over this sometime ago and I am not wanting to open this up again when things have been going so well. Acei9 09:59, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, don't be so superstitious. And besides, if he did pop up and say "Hi guys! I'm listening!" it would only confirm that he's a bigger loser than any of us by watching closely for any mention of himself. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 10:03, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

- Jeebus, that does sound like good eating, but only if you have beer to wash it down afterwards. The Spikey Punk I'm punking my punk! 23:23, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- It were Manuka smoked bacon strips (I think only in NZ you can get Manuka smoked bacon) cooked to the point just before it goes crunchy but not quite floppy and greasy. In other words - perfect. Firstly breakfast, bacon and egg sandwich. Then lunch a BLT followed by dinner - Gnocchi with bacon and a rich sauce. Mmmmmm.....Acei9 23:20, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Were it flimsy and greasy bacon or crunchy and not-so-greasy bacon? The Goonie 1 What's this button do? Uh oh.... 23:08, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- It were all very delicious. Acei9 23:06, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Bacon is always a good time, in my opinion. Gooniepunk2010 Oi! Oi! Oi! 23:05, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

"oversighting" at AS[edit]

What can you do on your talk page?[edit]
Pi was badly insuting me on his. 110.32.131.13 (talk) 08:00, 26 May 2010 (UTC) Oh sorry, you did block him. 110.32.131.13 (talk) 08:02, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- You can display pictures of your penis. Or someone else's penis. Pretty much penis pictures are GO. Also, if you make an ass of yourself on someone who has been around a long time's talk page, they can just color your dick purple. I think them's the rules. Ace? ħuman 08:04, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
point taken[edit]
For some reason BoN's dumb edits really got under my skin. I didn't totally disagree with his point, but I did think he was being a moron about it. I'll try to have more patience in the future. PACODOGwoof, bitches 20:38, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Don't cry for me[edit]
Hey Ace, you have visited South America, ever been to Argentina? - π 00:23, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- yes, yes I have. Acei9 07:23, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- I am going to a conference next week in Buenos Aires, what are good place to see, go, do, around the city? - π 07:49, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- i was in Buenos Aires a week and to be honest, I didn't think much of it. Its a city, they are all the same. I'd better to advise you on other parts of the country to be honest. Nontheless.....there are some beautiful Japanese Gardens in the city (can't remember where but just ask - they are pretty well know and the area they are in is quite boutiquey) also the cemetary where Evita is buried is rather impressive. Acei9 08:10, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- I am going up to Iguazu for a few days. I am staying near the university in the Recoleta district and the hotel I am booked in has been described boutique, which I took to means small. The impression I got was that it was the trendy district, walking distance to all the big phallic symbols. - π 08:15, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- Iguazu is great - I loved it there. Reminded me of Africa almost. The Iguazu Falls are a must see. Buenos Aires though is really just a city. Acei9 08:24, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah I was pissed off I could not get a visa to Brazil to visit their side of the falls, if I had put down drug smuggler rather than student I probably would have had less trouble. - π 08:26, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- I hear they have excellent sheep there. Not as pretty as Welsh and Kiwi sheep, but nonetheless very satisfying to, um, "observe". ħuman 08:20, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- Actually I was told that if you want sheep in that part of the world Chile is the place to go, Argentina is cow country. Good steak apparently. - π 08:23, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
