Leonard Piekoff[edit]

While you could argue that he is batshit crazy (and I would completely agree there), the Ayn Rand Institute, which he heads up, is one of the foremost Objectivist organizations out there. Thus, when talking about Objectivism, you cannot single-handedly deny his significance to the Objectivist movement, for it would be like talking about modern Christianity and leaving out, for example, Young Earth Creationism, or talking about Republicans and leaving out George W Bush just because he was an incompetent hack. True, but I think the argument was against using that exclusively. This is a fair point. But if these people count as "too crazy" then you have to ask what the hell is an Objectivist anyway? Scarlet A.png...I'll give your neck! 14:05, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
I don't think anybody would think it reasonable to take a whackjob, loony young earth creationist and say see! This my friends is what a Christian looks like! I'd be embarrassed if all atheists started doing that. The article needs to be about ideas, not people. And not smoking. What is it with you guys and smoking? --PriorityQueue (talk) 14:11, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
YECs take the Bible literally. They represent Christianity in it's distilled form because they take the central dogma and run with it literally. They don't represent Christians, because they're a group, but they do represent the idea because they embody it completely. Scarlet A.png...I'll orate your Gatsby! 14:13, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Maybe a bad comparison, Christianity a very complex and diverse compared to Objectivism. --PriorityQueue (talk) 16:14, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
