Essay talk:Hitler on religion
Interesting refutation for those would claim that Hitler was an atheist. Apart from that it doesn't demonstrate that every Christian is a fascist bastard - only that Hitler was a Christian and a fascist bastard.--BobSpring is sprung! 18:47, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I think it's good to have. The title could get a little more specific, like "List of Hitler quotes expressing his religious belief" or whatnot. Blue (pester) 19:04, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- That might be a good idea. But after seeing the bizarre conversations at Atheists say the darnedest things I'm not convinced.--BobSpring is sprung! 19:12, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- I thought it might be a resource for offsite stuff, more than a RW article. Don't think the title needs amending. I'm a great believer in Keep It Simple, Stupid. Easier to link to, too. A paragraph could be inserted at the start. 19:26, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm. At any rate, the title should be "Hitler quotes," not "Hitler Quotes." I'll move it... Blue (pester) 19:29, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

I don't think this belongs in mainspace; at least not in its current state. It's just a pile of mined quotes out of context & without commentary, + it's only presenting one facet of what is by no means a clear-cut issue. Hitler's speeches & published works were pitched at what was inevitably a predominantly Christian audience. In private correspondence & conversation, he was reportedly extremely critical of Christianity. E.g. see some of the excerpts here. Sure enough the authenticity of some of these attributed quotes is disputed (see WP:Hitler's Table Talk#Controversy about Hitler's comments on religion). History is complicated. - This is Obviously true. A man with Hitler's Ideas could not be a Christian.--Tolerance (talk) 20:14, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with Weaseloid, this article is just a long list of quotes with no commentary. It's not finished. --Onion Hi! :) 20:26, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Delete?[edit]
And the point is? ħuman 05:09, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- It shouldn't be an article, but with a bit of work it could probably be a subpage of either Hitler or Positive Christianity. ~ŴêâŝêîôîďMethinks it is a Weasel
- I agree that it's not worthy of an article in its own right, but I think having these quotes around is a good idea because it provides easy access to ammunition against the lie that the Nazis were, in general, atheists. This is a lie that seems to be gaining traction at the moment, and Joe "Reluctant ex-Hitler Youth" Ratzinger repeated it at the start of his trip to the UK. I like Weaseloid's subpage idea. –SuspectedReplicant retire me 19:23, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- I went ahead and made it a subpage. --Onion
Hi! :) 19:28, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Agree with Suspected Rep - it's useful to have on board to rebut the well-worn "Hitler was an atheist" stuff. At one time I started to go through Mein Kampf looking for all the references to God and Christianity - but my monomania ran out.--BobSpring is sprung! 19:45, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- As subpages are disabled in the mainspace because of various issues, I have to point out that it is, technically, its own article rather than a subpage right now. postate 20:01, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Make it a subpage of this talk page? And don't forget to link to it... ħuman 21:25, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Doh, not this talk page; sub page of talk:Adolf Hitler. ħuman 21:26, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'm going to try that. Don't blame if the recursiveness of talk:talk:adolf hitler/quotes breaks your wiki. By the time the Mad Men repeats are over tonight Trent will have it fixed. ħuman 00:50, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Damn, that was epic fail. How about stuffing it in the rationalwiki: namespace? ħuman 00:52, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Edits from Let Them Eat Cake[edit]
The quotes about gun control that you added are misquotations and don't represent Hitler's real views, which are basically that you should only disarm the races you don't like. Hardly the same thing as what's happening in contemporary politics.
However, as the quote about socialism seems to be accurate I have left it in. Please try to use the quote template properly: use three pipes, not one, between text and source; otherwise the quote appears to be unattributed. Wehpudicabok [話] [変] [留] 19:55, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Although I'm not sure that even that one should remain considering that it ignores the entire point of this page, which Human et al. elucidated directly above me. Wehpudicabok [話] [変] [留] 19:56, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- The page could be better named. As it is anything said by Hitler - including, presumably, the entire text of "Mein Kampf" - could be included.--Bob"I think you'll find it's more complicated than that." 20:34, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
