Wine[edit]

Is good. It's even given me the motivation to read a friends short story and do all the copy-editing and stuff that I agreed to do about 4 or 5 months ago. And also the incentive to tell all you guys about it. Now, if only it could incite me to do some actual work... Scarlet A.pngbomination 02:08, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

What colors and styles of wine? Lord Goonie Hooray! I'm helping! 02:10, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
White. Mostly as spritzers. To be fair, not a lot of it, but it is late and it did follow a can of Relentless so it's kind of like smearing Vodka + Redbull on your face. As a result, I'm perfectly coherent, just more "chipper" than usual. Scarlet A.pngbomination 02:13, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Glad someone is on the same level as me! Acei9 02:15, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I imagine this is your default state. And I haven't had this as a default state since my undergraduate years. Scarlet A.pngbomination 02:16, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I love wine, and am enjoying a fair amount right now. It has one advantage on beer: even in its cheapest state, it's still pretty damn good. Has to be red, though. White? As spritzers? Sorry the New Jersey vote didn't go better for you guys. DickTurpis (talk) 02:18, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, it's white because I'm certainly not a red person (ListenerX need not panic, hurr hurr) to me even the expensive stuff tastes of vinegar, don't know why, it just does. And it's spritzers because I only have the one bottle left and I want to drag it out a little longer. If it was straight I'd have finished the bottle by now... and fuck, I've just realized that there's a large bottle of JD left over from Christmas in the next room. Hopefully it won't come to that. This isn't going to be a repeat of the time I had two MSN conversations going at the same time, got drunk, got confused and ended up embarrassing myself in front of someone I really shouldn't have... Scarlet A.pngbomination 02:21, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Just curious, which part of NZ are you from Ace? I didn't like wine, but then I lived in Marlborough. --Seantalk 02:22, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I live in Wellington and make frequent trips to Martinborough to buy cases of Pinot Noir. Acei9 02:25, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Did you just challenge me to up the ante to whiskey? I accept! DickTurpis (talk) 02:24, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I'll take that action. Acei9 02:25, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
No, I'm specifically saying I will not touch the whiskey. After all, Thunderf00t has just released the "improved audio" version of the Dawkins interview and I want to survive to the end of it. Scarlet A.pngbomination 02:29, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I love wine, and am very much looking forward to getting into that bottle over there, a Chateau La Gaffeliere St.Emilion Grand Cru 2000. Mmmmm, a fine year, a fine vineyard, a special night awaits. I shall watch the documentary MondoVino and quaff the fucker. DogPMarmite Patrol 07:43, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Whisky in the jar[edit]

JD = Jack Daniel = NOT whisky. Acei9 02:31, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes and no. JD (himself, not the company) referred to it as a whisky (I always forget which one has the e and which one doesn't) and emphatically not a bourbon for some reason or other I forget. Either way, it's the McDonalds of whisky, it's better than Bells at least when it's neat, it tastes nice with Coke (that's Coca Cola, cheap "cola flavoured beverage" or *shudder* Pepsi just doesn't work) and I don't care. It has to be at least £35 per bottle before I'll give it pedantic respect. Scarlet A.pngbomination 02:36, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
JD is a sour mash which is not a whisky. Acei9 02:38, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Sour mash is more or less synonymous with Tennessee whiskey. I suppose that's not exactly the same as Irish or Scottish stuff but, meh, as I said, I'll not split hairs until it's properly expensive, and Old No. 7 aint expensive in the grand scheme of high %ABV drinks. Scarlet A.pngbomination 02:45, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey RA, whisky is important business damnit! Acei9 02:57, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Highland single, blended when feeling assaulted by >$35 a handle... ħumanUser talk:Human 03:01, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Well I've got some Springbank 10 year old single malt. The Lagavulin has to wait for a special occasion. DickTurpis (talk) 03:06, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I was drinking some fine 15 yr old Lagavulin last night. So deliciously petey! Acei9 03:11, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
You know, I'm pretty sure you were drinking 16 year old Lagavulin. But yes, excellent stuff. Jut about the best liquid one can envision. DickTurpis (talk) 03:12, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, it were someone elses so, yeah, could be 16 year old - nonetheless though I felt like a god with 3 of them down. Acei9 03:17, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Lagavulin is good but Ardbeg has the edge IMHO I have just eaten Toast& stiltontalk 03:16, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

To clarify, Jack Daniels is Tennessee whiskey. It's essentially the same as Bourbon, but Bourbon comes from Bourbon County in Kentucky, so a Tennessee whiskey can not call itself as Bourbon (just like some beers or wines are strictly defined geographically). Bourbon & sour mash whiskeys like JD are made from corn rather than barley, which is why Scotch/Irish whisky/whiskey connoisseurs don't consider it a whisk(e)y, but it is still classed as a whiskey, as is rye whiskey. €₳$£ΘĪÐWeaselly.jpgMethinks it is a Weasel 13:06, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

RWians at their best[edit]

I just finished a half-bottle of U-brew Italian Brunello that's been aging for about 3 months since it was bottled. Very, very nice stuff, whee! --Kels (talk) 03:02, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

So what have we learned? Come Saturday Night, Rational Wiki users are total piss-heads, but they still sit at their computers posting... Scarlet A.pngbomination 03:03, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I am sinking some fine beers and feeling rosey. However I am dog-sitting my brother-in-laws puppy and it just pissed in my boat so feel a bit grumbly now. (@Armondikov - Its Sunday afternoon here :-)...) Acei9 03:05, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
No, Kels, not you too! Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 03:05, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Bah, I never cared for hard liquor (Irish Cream aside), and can't drink beer due to acid reflux. What the hell else am I gonna drink? --Kels (talk) 03:15, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
A combination of Meth, wine and holy water? Acei9 03:17, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Why holy water? What about homeopathic alcohol... Scarlet A.pngbomination 03:26, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Nothing like a good dose of holy water and amephetamine to put a spring in your step. Acei9 03:29, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
During a christening I went to a few months ago, the vicar basically said that they'd skip blessing the holy water because the Bishop did it a few days ago. This lead me to thinking about the half-life of Holy Water and whether the concentration increases depending on the seniority of the person doing the blessing. You mention of holy water lead me to remember this, and my mild inebriation lead me to mention it explicitly here. Scarlet A.pngbomination 03:35, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I enjoy your mild inebriation!! Acei9 03:36, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Several glasses of Chivas Regal in me now, and Guinness on the way for me. I'll try not to break anything. Aboriginal Noise What the hell is that thing? 03:40, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Whoot! Lets go! I might ingest a substance....Acei9 03:41, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Ahhhh yes ingestion complete, party time. A very Ace Sunday. Acei9 03:44, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Still Saturday here, however. Then again, you are 12 hours ahead, aren't you, so it's not that silly. Scarlet A.pngbomination 03:46, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

EUEEUUUGUGHGHGH!!!![edit]

Finished the wine. Against my better judgment I opened the whisky Sour Mash and AAAGHH MY THROAT!! Scarlet A.pngbomination 04:03, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Go for it. I cracked my 5th beer and had shot of tequila to keep me sober. Ahhhhh and the tablet dissolves in my belly.....welcome to Sunday evening. Acei9 04:05, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I still have some vintage (1975) Johnny Walker to polish off. Aboriginal Noise What the hell is that thing? 04:09, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
My eyes feel like they are bleeding and Mrs McWicked is complaining of nausea. Better pull it together - I have airport pick up duty in 5 hours. Acei9 04:10, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I suppose you're a great believer in the state of "knurd", then. Scarlet A.pngbomination 04:11, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh![edit]

Right. Now I have some alcohol in my system, I can behave like a moderately human being. I will add that, although I rarely drink wine, I do enjoy a nice gin and tonic with lime. Absolutely delicious. (sips gin&tonic) --User:Theautocrat/Sig 04:06, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Good, you found it. Aboriginal Noise What the hell is that thing? 04:07, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
G&T w Lime is loverly (easy on the T though). On a hot Summer day (remember them?). It's the best reason for owning a cocktail shaker: Chill shaker; fill shaker with ice; add 4 measures Gloags gin; 1 measure Sch Indian Tonic Water; juice one lime. Shake & speedily (to avoid dilution with melting ice) decant into glass containing 1 (one) ice cube and garnish with lime slice. Heaven! Role call[edit]

I've lost track. Who exactly, is pished right now? Because this seems to be getting excessive.

Watching debate[edit]

I am rewatching the Obama-McCain prez debates, specifically the 3rd and final one because its the only one where Obama gets rattled. Enjoyable. Acei9 04:22, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

I was just thinking about the drunkeness that resulted from that night. I'm sorry to have missed out on it. I should have laid some more ground work and participated in the Nick Griffin on Question Time one. Scarlet A.pngbomination 04:26, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Speaking of drinking and the '08 election, last year I invented a drink called "More of the same", based on the contrived refrain from Biden's convention speech. Not a bad beverage. DickTurpis (talk) 04:42, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I threw a party for the previous Prez election, and dreamed up a red, white and blue cocktail. A layer of Curacao, a layer of cream, and a layer of Grenadine-they stay separated like a proper 1970's cocktail. It's totally, absolutely disgusting though, and I don't recommend you try it. Funny though. DogPMarmite Patrol 07:40, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
It's really interesting watching the debates with hindsight. All I hear from McCain is "Joe the Plumber! Joe the Plumber!" while he attempts to raise his arms above his head. Acei9 04:44, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
If I recall, it wasn't simply "Joe the Plumber", it was "My friend Joe the Plumber." I have an inkling that had McCain realized what a neanderthal that guy was he never would have referred to him as such. DickTurpis (talk) 04:56, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
From what I observe of "Joe" it was just a popular figure to latch on to given the lack of anything else that would sufficiently distract the populace properly. I mean, yeah, the guy spoke for the "common people" but by fuck were the common people shallow and limited. Scarlet A.pngbomination 05:00, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
That's just what I'd expect a filthy liberal elitist like yourself to say. Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 05:42, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Redux[edit]

Decided to try a bit more of that bottle of JD. Didn't get it finished last time (thank fuck, I'd never have woken back up). Scarlet A.pngbomination 02:06, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
