Laser-beam-like anality[edit]

Perhaps we should put the "edit war" template as well? I foresee much scope in this article.--Bobbing up 14:51, 3 January 2008 (EST)

The problem for me is that, as far as can be told, the city does not exist. The people involved do not exist. This reads like someone's personal private joke. Researcher 14:52, 3 January 2008 (EST)
Where does the laser-beam-like anality come from? If this is a joke, then this person had better get a new writer (unless their being affected by the strike). --Edgerunner76 14:56, 3 January 2008 (EST)
Maybe I'm being dense, but I would really like to know what kooky message I'm supposed to take from what our New Gwenson expert wrote. --Edgerunner76 14:54, 3 January 2008 (EST)
He also trolled over at MP and put it there. It's not on WP, but probably only because it was taken down too fast. Researcher 14:54, 3 January 2008 (EST)
Maybe he will expand on it now?--Bobbing up 14:56, 3 January 2008 (EST)
Very doubtful. Of course, I blocked the last one for quite a while. Researcher 14:57, 3 January 2008 (EST)
He's probably getting off on seeing us talk about it though. So we've brought some pleasure into the world.--Bobbing up 14:58, 3 January 2008 (EST)

Ridicule is still the best way to combat this sort of thing. Ridicule is damn effective. --Edgerunner76 14:59, 3 January 2008 (EST)

Except that Kenservative and Andy seem to thrive on it! Jollyfish.gifGenghis Marauding 15:01, 3 January 2008 (EST)

Isn't it Elassint? Susanclaw! ... 15:03, 3 January 2008 (EST)

Mmmmm. It's not quite his style.--Bobbing up 15:11, 3 January 2008 (EST)

I'll admit that it is killing me not knowing the reason for the laser-beam-like anality associated with "New Gwenson". Is there some racist/Metapedia thing that I am not getting here? --Edgerunner76 10:35, 4 January 2008 (EST)

New namespace[edit]

While the first reaction would be to put or move something like this to the Fun: namespace, that would be an insult to actual humo(u)rous items in that namespace. I suggest that we create the Stupid: (or Ridicule:) namespace for these sorts of articles. --Edgerunner76 15:04, 3 January 2008 (EST)

I'm not convinced - they'd just come back as new articles in mainspace.--Bobbing up 15:06, 3 January 2008 (EST)
True. I didn't consider that. --Edgerunner76 15:08, 3 January 2008 (EST)

Reproduce-the-rant-from-memory game[edit]

New Gwenson is a city in Bangladesh of over 5000 citizen, it was made famous in 1926 when the mayor asdf fdsa ordered the arrest of an atheist for being atheist. asdf zsomething released the statement "asdf fdsa should proud himself for arresting that worthless scumbag NightFlareSpeak, mortal 15:08, 3 January 2008 (EST)

The year I think was 1921, but i don't know for sure. --PROUD AND STRONG: NEW GWENSON 15:11, 3 January 2008 (EST)
Why not just copy and paste it, the way some NG wandal did on many existing, and "wanted", pages at rationalwikiwiki? humanUser talk:Human 16:50, 3 January 2008 (EST)
Because that wouldn't be fun (well, it barely is this way but...) NightFlareSpeak, mortal 18:09, 3 January 2008 (EST)

Number 1 (& 2) on google[edit]

Well at least we're Number 1 for something. Susanclaw! ... 15:35, 3 January 2008 (EST)

Yes, I noticed that earlier. Just ahead of MP. Mmmm.--Bobbing up 15:49, 3 January 2008 (EST)
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that this city probably doesn't even exist? assume  15:50, 3 January 2008 (EST)

Grammar and such[edit]

Why hasn't our resident New Gwenson buttpirate never fixed the mistakes in their copy-and-paste job. Such as changing "arrested a atheist" to "arrested an atheist", or simply adding the endquotes to the end of the quote? --Edgerunner76 10:40, 4 January 2008 (EST)

I think that's part of the flavor of the meme. No one ever asks why the lolcats can't lern to spel, eh? humanUser talk:Human 19:25, 4 January 2008 (EST)

Delete this crap[edit]

What is this bollocks? looks like an uncyclopedia reject. I can't believe it's been on the site for months. Delete? Totnesmartin 17:43, 15 August 2008 (EDT)

You won't get argument from me. It was created back when the New Gwenson guy was around, and some of the other sysops wanted to engage the vandal, rather than just get rid of an annoyance. Presumably he got bored and left, and this got forgotten. --Kels 19:37, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
I thought it was pretty funny - after all, we are now the internet's #1 resource on New Gwenson! or should be, anyway... ħumanUser talk:Human 20:34, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
I favor keeping it, though not necessarily in the mainspace. It doesn't fit in the funspace—the article's approach destroys any amusement to be had—, so perhaps memorializing it in the RationalWikispace? If all else fails, I'm more than willing to keep it in my userspace.
Regardless of the verdict, we should preserve the talk page as a record of the motion to delete. Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 20:50, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
We should always do that Nods.gif <font=""; face="Comic Sans MS">Jellyfish! If I had to choose between the continued possibility of nothing happening and of doing nothing, I would unquestionably choose the latter. 20:53, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
Eh, let's just move it to "fun". ħumanUser talk:Human 21:00, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
How about Recipe? <font=""; face="Comic Sans MS">Jellyfish! If I had to choose between the continued possibility of nothing happening and of doing nothing, I would unquestionably choose the latter. 21:01, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
How about a new namespace like "crap"? 21:12, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
Maybe a new namespace for stuff we don't actually like but which we can't get rid of? It could be "Attic". Or "Clutter". <font=""; face="Comic Sans MS">Jellyfish! If I had to choose between the continued possibility of nothing happening and of doing nothing, I would unquestionably choose the latter. 21:19, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
Could be the place for all those drive-by-essays and other things that just float in. 21:22, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
No, children. Any such classification would be arbritrary. Eventually we would end up seriously pissing on someone. Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 21:26, 15 August 2008 (EDT)

Christ only knows...[edit]

...why I googled New Gwenson but I did, and we're #2 after the RW forum. I think this should go in the entry points category. Totnesmartin 14:08, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

That category is updated by Trent based on what articles actually draw traffic here, not high ranking search results. Of course, we could get Ken
to create a "top ten on Google" category for us... ħumanUser talk:Human 20:15, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
so much for using sarcasm to get rid of this... Totnesmartin 21:03, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, i hit 'Random' and got this page, so i added my two centsHKJGN (talk) 16:41, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

No need to apologize. You owe me 0.02. Also, "random" doesn't return anything but mainspace pages... hmmm... ħumanUser talk:Human 07:56, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Re: only mainspace: I thought that too, but wasn't there a mainspace redirect at the time? 08:18, 18 October 2010 (UTC) SusanG Toast
There was, until I deleted it twenty minutes before your post. ħumanUser talk:Human 09:02, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Special:Random does not select redirects. Special:RandomRedirect selects only redirects -- Nx / talk 09:15, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
