Re: "Whenever do you find the time to sleep?"[edit]

As my old, useful friend Mei once said of Nx, "Of course you don't sleep. That's because you are a robot, and I was only talking to non-robotic users." The Spikey Punk I'm punking my punk! 12:21, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

You seem like a pretty cool guy who doesn't afraid of anything.[edit]

Although maj9 chords are arguably prettier than vanilla maj7 chords. :P Anyway, who are some of your favorite jazz musicians? Besides Sun Ra, that is. HolyKatana (talk) 21:48, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

It's been so long since junior high orchestra, I thought your name meant in the key of b flat.--"Shut up, Brx." 21:50, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
"Shut up, Brx."
These days, I'm all about what was the "New Thing" back in the day -- Archie Shepp, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Eric Dolphy, Albert Ayler. Sun Ra is huge, as is 'Trane, especially when he had Dolphy in his band (This is playing as we speak...). Ornette, but I really like Old and New Dreams more than the classic Ornette quartet these days, and I just bought a nice trio session with Dewey Redman and Blackwell and some bass player who isn't Charlie Haden that has some of that vibe. I really, really like anything that Haden does--his work with Don Cherry, his stuff with Joe Henderson, his piano duets with Hank Jones and Kenny Barron...also, Miles with Wayne Shorter et al. They just released some radio broadcasts from 1967 that are the shit. Duke Ellington was always avant-garde. Who are you listening to? B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 21:58, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Not any jazz recently, actually. Come to think of it, not a whole lot of music at all this past week. I just put on Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works 85-92 to remedy that. And then I'll put on On the Corner, since I haven't really listened to that much since I got it a few months ago. I've been meaning to get into Eric Dolphy; what's a good album to start with? I don't really care how accessible it is, as long as it's good. HolyKatana (talk) 22:21, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Out to Lunch, I would imagine. I'm a big Mingus fan, though, so I'll also recommend any of their collaborations, e.g., Mingus x 5. As a left-field pick, I have a thing for Eric Dolphy and John Lewis Play Kurt Weill. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 23:15, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
I like The Illinois Concert. B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 23:22, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Screw it, just get everything. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 23:26, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
maybe some of you could help; I love a group called Paris Combo, which has a style that is a modern take on a django/grapelli sound. If i were to look for similar bands, what style would you all call that. I know it's a form of jazz, but it's not really any sense of what I'd call "jazz" today. since you all are talking good bands and general jazz, i figured some of you might know the style of django.Pink mowse.pngGodotGet over it!. 07:59, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

You can be a real asshole[edit]

Guy expands article to include Rachel Carson. He then realizes that most of what he adds would be better in the Rachel Carson article, and that we shouldn't have repeat article subsections. You steamroll over him without even thinking about what happened. Try and open up your mind a bit from now on, especially towards new users. This guy made some quality contributions and you're coming close to driving him away.--"Shut up, Brx." 02:27, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

"Shut up, Brx."
Jesus fucking Christ Brx, you are just a glutton for punishment. Aceace 02:29, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
And now the article is better. Guy has good ideas, but doesn't write too well, so I try to scope out his edits. And you're a massive troll, so I'm not interested in your take on things. B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 02:35, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, he doesn't write well so you insisted on keeping his Rachel Carson section. You're full of it.--"Shut up, Brx." 02:37, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Like i said, he had a good idea, although not as well executed as it could be. He was right to have a Carson section in the article, wrong to take it out, and it needed a serious editing. That's how a wiki works. B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 02:39, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
And you approached the matter in such an informed and diplomatic fashion, right?--"Shut up, Brx." 02:43, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
I didn't see you helpin' none. What the hell is your problem? You think I was out of line, take me to the coop. Either that, or buzz off. B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 02:46, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
You didn't break any rules, you were just acting like a douche. Maybe in the future you'll be more thoughtful and considerate. It can't hurt--"Shut up, Brx." 02:49, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Maybe in the future you'll not be a troll. B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 02:50, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Nukes[edit]

I've balanced out some of what Tweenk has written, but the general gist seems to check out, though I'm still pretty much a neophyte on nuclear power. I read James Hansen's Storms of my Grandchildren recently, which is supportive of nuclear power as part of the solution. Brave New Climate has some further reading and George Monbiot has a brief rebuttal to some anti-nuke arguments. I don't think we should just start firing up the nukes everywhere, but most of the pro-nuke arguments not coming from the nuke industry shills seem to agree with me. I think counting it out of our arsenal totally is a mistake. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 05:18, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Ward Churchill[edit]

Thanks..I was maybe thinking of taking that part out myself, or at least noting the difficulties in proving ones Native ancestry. I don't know how far to go in ripping apart that trashy hatchet job of an article and rewriting it, given who the two main authors of that article are (hint: they're both jerks, the only two people I've ever had serious run-ins with around here). Anyway, thanks for the assistance :) Maybe we can turn it into a good article. Secret Squirrel (talk) 01:25, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

That'a what wikis are all aboot. As for Churchill's ethnic background, if other Native groups have made an issue about his identity, it might be noteworthy. But if it's just conservatives saying "where's the birth certificate!!1!!11", well, then, who cares? B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 01:56, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
As best I can tell the issue was first raised by a couple of Native activists, but didn't get any attention until after the 2005 manufactroversy when the Rocky Mountain News took it up. Then again, AIM has been notoriously fractious and has had different factions accusing each other of being federal agents or not being Native, so this is probably a take-with-grain-of-salt thing. I don't know the Rocky Mountain News' political leanings, if any. Secret Squirrel (talk) 02:27, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Dr Gonzo[edit]

Went to go look at a house today. On the wall they had an original Steadman print of "Dr Gonzo". You know the one, he is creeping around in a Hawaiian shirt carrying a briefcase which is leaking hard drugs. Putting an offer on both the house and the picture this afternoon. Not sure which one I want more. Aceace 02:33, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

That would be awesome--would Mrs. McWiked oblige? B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 02:42, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
She was pretty pissed off because we walked in and the first thing I noticed was the print and then I kept badgering the real estate agent about it. He is coming over at 5pm and I am going put a play for the picture before the house. She'll be really fucked off after that. Did I mention I am drunk? Hell, if you are going piss off your wife you gotta go all in. Fuck pussy footing around. Aceace 02:47, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

I stopped reading after "the vote was 2-4." Thanks! B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 01:13, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Hardly overwhelming? It's twice as many. Too bad you're not a sysop, then you could undelete it. B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 01:20, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
Is that what this is about? You want me to be a sysop again so you can rage block me or coop me? Twice as many, by the way, doesn't really apply with such a small number of votes--"Shut up, Brx." 01:23, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

No, it's about me pointing out that you're not a sysop, and it's about deleting an article where a vote says to delete. B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 01:25, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Well, you could start a vote to delete any ol' page, stick your sig in the delete section, and delete it before anybody else has a say claiming majority. This is not quite the same case, but I do think that more votes are needed (and I do suspect that some of those votes, Ty's included, are there out of spite rather than out of concerns for missionality. After all, Human raised concerns about the missionality of my massage article, for no reason but to stick it to me).--"Shut up, Brx." 01:32, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
Go away. B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 01:33, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
You activly turned your massage article into something very mission by talking about how it's both woo and not woo at the same time, depending on who performed it. You had over a week and didn't do the same with CPR or suggest how it could be done. I'm sorry you choose to make articles that are not mission, then get upset that they are deleted. Maybe you should work on an actually "fully on mission" article. If we delete it, you are right - we are out to get you. Pink mowse.pngGodotMoi j'dis, laisse beton 01:40, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
I presented my explanation as to why the article was on mission. I await a refutation.--"Shut up, Brx." 01:45, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
RW isn't a cluocracy. The validity of your argument is meaningless in the face of the glorious majority against you. Blue Talk 01:48, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
I learned a new word today. and i do think we are mostly a clucracy, but the argument presented was "Nuh-uh". Again, nothing about how he could change it, or make it more about the kinds of things we do focus on here. Just "it's mission cause there's this list and I hit all the check points". That's not an argument. An argument would be what he did for massage, and an article that followed through. Pink mowse.pngGodotMoi j'dis, laisse beton 01:52, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
I refuted Brx with my banhammer. Aceace 01:54, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
It was not "nuh-uh." The only excuse presented for the CPR article was that it could be used as a reference. I put forth that it was on mission, which I hadn't actually done yet, because I was too busy telling you to fuck off.--"Shut up, Brx." 15:24, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
