Yes! I can restore your powaz if you don't abuse them. I'll be up for a while, so like Putin, I'm watching you!!!!!!111 Errr. Anyways, why the return?-αmεσ (tinker) 01:40, 12 December 2007 (EST)

Sysop vote[edit]
Hello HG. You've always been somewhat of a controversial character and I see that you've requested Sysop again. You will be aware that you are the only person here ever to be stripped of sysop powers for misuse. I personally feel that we should put your re-sysoping to the vote. I'd vote for a minimum three month probation period as a normal user and then review with the possibility of getting sysop if your edits and contributions to the site have been positive over that time.--Bobbing up 07:28, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Mmm. Same rule for Bohdan. Susanpurrrrr ... 07:33, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- What's the point in becoming a RW Sysop? I thought it was just for good souls who sacrifice their time to keep the wiki running and vandals away? Surely not the position of Power that a CP Sysop has. Editor at CP 07:42, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Please, please, please, please, can I do the whippping? Please, please, please, please. Susanpurrrrr ... 07:51, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Susan, you don't know in what dangerous company you are in this atheist, liberal, evil place. (Oooooh yes I do. Believe me, I do. Susanpurrrrr ...) Be very careful what you hope for! Did you forget to read your daily Chick? Editor at CP 07:55, 12 December 2007 (EST)

I think Editor's right, being a sysop isn't all that prestigious; what makes it prestigious at CP is the real antagonism between sysops and the user base, which we don't really have here. I will say, though, that being a bureaucrat is pretty fun... renaming neonazi accounts to things like RosaParksFan always gives me a chuckle.-11:04, 12 December 2007 (EST) — Unsigned, by: AmesG / talk / contribs
- From my talk page, HG sayeth: "Give me my sysop powers back and I will come make life more interesting at RW"
- And I replied something like: Apparently, the mob wants to "vote" on it. My personal feeling (if I felt free to act on my own & ignore the mob) would be to say, "how about making life more interesting for a week or two first?" Someone suggested a 3 month probation abovee, which I think is absurd for a 6 month old wiki, but what I usually do is if I see a new, busy editor who seems to have the site's goals in their sights, I figure they might as well be a sysop so they can block vandals as well. And that usually only takes a week or two. I don't actually see the sequitur in your request - what do you need to be a sysop for to make "life more interesting"? And, I suppose I'm curious, why is having "sysop powers" so important that it's the first item on your to-do list upon returning? human 14:34, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- I nominate myself instead of HoG. --Edgerunner76 14:37, 12 December 2007 (EST)

- I've got no problem with Edge for sysop. Often here, posts, edits, does things to improve the site, great candidate. Agreement?--Bobbing up 14:55, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Thanks for the vote. As AmesG said, it's not that big of a deal. I'm mostly interested in it because I've felt somewhat helpless stopping wandals. --Edgerunner76 14:59, 12 December 2007 (EST)

From what I gather by skimming around: HoG used to be a sysop and was removed from misuse or something, wandalism with POV to Global Warming, then suddenly comes back with a somewhat "gimme my sysop status back" attitude. I'd rather see the answer to hewman's question first before rolling the dice, if at all. I also support the one who runs with edges. NorsemanWassail! 15:06, 12 December 2007 (EST)

On AmesG's talk page. There is discussion about your powers being given back. Bohdan 23:16, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Thanks, I just noticed. I was trying to find the links he was looking for. Heart♥GoldDemonstrate the spirit of stupor 23:17, 12 December 2007 (EST)
Can we put the discussion on your talk page? And, I hesitate to make user rights decisions without consulting the mob. Insofar as I suggested I'd act otherwise, I was wrong, and I was tired.-αmεσ (tinker) 23:21, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Ames, I am a member of the mob. You can consult me. HG is also a member of this mob. Consult us. Or do some mob members have more authority than others? Bohdan 23:23, 12 December 2007 (EST)
Look at the excitement....[edit]
- To answer your (amesg's) question, this and other very short blocks were the reason why I was demoted (promoted)--"(Abuse of powers)". I have apologized to Bob M., and agree to not block anybody with whom I am in an active content dispute. Check out Tower of Babel history on or about July 21. Heart♥GoldDemonstrate the spirit of stupor 23:28, 12 December 2007 (EST)
Thanks. I think the problem is we need to have some guidelines for sysoppery/bureaucratishness. The reasons so far have been just "we need someone" + "you seem alright," which has worked so far. I'm not willing to lay down those guidelines just yet. Suggestions for criteria would be great. One criteria to probably be excluded, I think, would be alignment with political views. However, I think we should keep in mind that our egalitarianism is not a suicide pact. We don't need to exalt fairness over the mission. To the extent that we could someday risk doing that, I'd like that to be considered.-αmεσ (tinker) 23:31, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- That seems like a pretty dirty reason to de-sysop someone. Come on Ames, take the initiative. Give him the powers and lets see how it turns out. Surely you're not worried about being recalled yourself? Bohdan 23:32, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Look above at how many users are in favor! Give him the powers now! Bohdan 23:33, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- I must also say that I was not blocking this person to abuse powers, or because he disagreed with me. And it was for such a short time, and I did think he was a sysop, who could have unblocked himself. Heart♥GoldDemonstrate the spirit of stupor 23:35, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Look above at how many users are in favor! Give him the powers now! Bohdan 23:33, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- I'd do it if I saw him making the site better for a week or two, and also saw him struggle with vandalism (our primary reason for demotion). As far as just "giving it to him"? HOG is a stranger to this site, at best, "born" yesterday. At worst - a dominionist. A theocratist. And a bit of a troll. Just my humble observations and opinion. Dude, show us your chops. If the past counts, you lose. If it doesn't, you're a one-day noob, and you want to be a sysop? Get a clue, please. PS, I got EC'd. You took several fucking MONTHS to actually aoplogize for the "mistaken" block. human 23:37, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Did you want me to turn in to a libtard or something? Not going to happen. Heart♥GoldDemonstrate the spirit of stupor 23:40, 12 December 2007 (EST)
Can we say that another fair, content-neutral criterion would be consistent improvement of the site?-αmεσ (tinker) 23:38, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Okay, so user:Human a single mob member opposes. Bohdan 23:39, 12 December 2007 (EST)
A single opposition member... at midnight on a Wednesday.-αmεσ (tinker) 23:40, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Thats... so... profound. Bohdan 23:44, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- "Libtard" is kinda uncool....-αmεσ (tinker) 23:41, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- I agree that libtard is kinda uncool....that's why it's not going to happen. Heart♥GoldDemonstrate the spirit of stupor 23:43, 12 December 2007 (EST)
But I think it might be a good idea to have content-neutral rules for sysoppery. Surely our main space is viewpointed, and so're WIGO and According To, but essay namespace, etc., aren't, and we ought to pride ourselves on treating users neutrally. That said, I think we have enough neutral reasons to at least postpone an HG sysop decision.-αmεσ (tinker) 23:46, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- This isn't fair. You guys frequently insult conservatives. Why is he not allowed to use "libtard"? Bohdan 23:49, 12 December 2007 (EST)
I think context matters. I would not call conservatives a nasty name in a discussion in which you were involved, Bohdan.-αmεσ (tinker) 23:51, 12 December 2007 (EST)
- Libtard sounds like a term of endearment to me. Bohdan 23:52, 12 December 2007 (EST)

Human's double standard[edit]
For the record, I was just blocked by human for using the word "libtard", as in "if you think I am going to turn into a libtard, it is not going to happen." Wow. (And I was desysopped by human for blocking somebody (Bob K) for a minute for calling me a troll). Heart♥GoldDemonstrate the spirit of stupor 23:51, 12 December 2007 (EST)
