Ending an edit war[edit]
Hiya, would you like to talk about our edit war going on in the draft 4B page? You asked me to provide my reasoning and got me banned instead. Maybe we could talk about it rationally or reach a compromise, as I don't feel like we're having a constructive dialogue about this. --User:TheJessieKirk
- I didn‘t ban you, I only blocked you from editing the 4B draft for pi days due to serial edit warring; you can still edit other pages/drafts without restrictions. For the edit war, sure, we can talk here or in the talk page of the draft. Monet Ye 11:26, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Grand. I genuinely don't understand the argument that my edit is US-centric; I'm not actually from the US and wrote the page from my perspective as a Scot. Respectfully, I argue that "outside the US" is less US-centric, and gave my reason as you requested (but got blocked anyway). Unfortunately, Trump's election affects us here in Europe too. I have a proposal for a compramise edit: "Women, primarily in the US (but what happens over there matters elsewhere -CITATION NOT NEEDED-)". Would that be sufficient or still trigger the block hammer? Ta. --User:TheJessieKirk
- You could just add a citation showing that European women are becoming interested in the movement as well, and then change the sentence to read, "women in the US and Europe" 🎄Chef Moosolini’s Ristorante Italiano🎄Ask about our holiday specials! 15:08, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Ofc there are women outside the US (and also Europe) that are becoming interested in the movement, but thats because of their own past bad experiences with men rather than Trumps election victory. And just like Duce said, add citations/sources why women outside the US are becoming interested in the movement. I will remove your block, but if you add something without citations/sources, it will be reinstated. Monet Ye 15:50, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- @TheJessieKirk And this doesn't count, since it mentions multiple times women in the US. Monet Ye 15:54, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- For the record, I haven't found any good articles describing that the 4B movement had traction outside of the US and South Korea (outside of this i news article[2] which I found way too anecdotal). However, there does seem to be a parallel somewhat related "boy sober" movement started in early 2024 by an American comedian / Tiktok influencer type [3] that also seems to have generated a few UK-focused (albeit still anecdotal) articles.[4][5] 4B has always seemed to me quite small for the media attention it got post-Trump; likewise, I have no idea from these articles exactly how pervasive the "boy sober" thing actually is. It doesn't seem as easy to get hashtag trends and whatnot on TikTok as other platforms. BobJohnson (talk) 17:09, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback and lifting the block. However, I'm not sure what the consensus is regarding this sentence is? Is it "women in the US and Europe" as suggested above? --User:TheJessieKirk
