I didn't understand that. Tmtoulouse is Canadian? I thought he told me months ago that he was French. Clustering illusionist 22:43, 2 August 2007 (CDT)
HA! See here: [1] He says his relatives came to the US, not Canada. Clustering illusionist

I would presume, User:Helios, who is a supporter of canada and perhaps User:Nolife. Apperently they have been semi-active in the vandalism department lately.

Checkuser[edit]

Would it be okay if I had checkuser abilities? --transResident Transfanform! 12:40, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

Hm, there is a legitimate concern about privacy in regards to checkuser, not the least of which is our sites stated intent to respect sock puppets both open and secret. I am leery of making it wildly available, I am not saying no or anything, just being cautious. Why do you want it? tmtoulouse irritate 12:44, 9 August 2007 (CDT)
I may be wrong but on CP it appears to be only available to the CPwebmaster, although from the actions of the sysops over there it looks like they all have it. Genghis Khant 13:31, 9 August 2007 (CDT)
The check user is widely availible on CP. On the matter of checkuser here can we install the checkuser log extension, so we can know whos querying who. - Icewedge 14:08, 9 August 2007 (CDT)
Every sysop has Checkuser rights. This was brought up very early on CP, but I think the reply was the usual "Andy completely trusts the sysops, so there". Besides, on CP, silly things like IPs don't count as private user information. --Sid 15:09, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

A message from Conservative[edit]

Hey there. Conservative asked me to give you a message:

Dear Matt,

Please ask Trent and Ames how they like the new beginning for the theory of evolution.  I am speaking of this material:

In addition, Philip S. Skell, a member of the United States National Academy of Sciences wrote a candid article in The Scientist in 2005 entitled Why Do We Invoke Darwin? Evolutionary theory contributes little to experimental biology in which he states that Darwinian evolution "does not provide a fruitful heuristic in experimental biology." [5] Skell also wrote the following:

Certainly, my own research with antibiotics during World War II received no guidance from insights provided by Darwinian evolution. Nor did Alexander Fleming's discovery of bacterial inhibition by penicillin. I recently asked more than 70 eminent researchers if they would have done their work differently if they had thought Darwin's theory was wrong. The responses were all the same: No.[6]

Sincerely,

David

I merely re-wikified it. Otherwise, it's a 1:1 of the mail he sent me. I first didn't want to play errant boy for him, but since I joined anyway, I figure you might get a kick out of it. --MStort 16:07, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

Sheesh. I'm sure it'd be POSSIBLE to do some sorts of physics research without accounting for Gravity. but that wouldn't mean it doesn't exist. --Gulik 13:45, 10 August 2007 (CDT)

Site Finances[edit]

Hey can you E-Mail me a copy of our WebSite finances. I need to see what the least amount I can donate and not look completly stingy is. Gods peed! - Icewedge 16:39, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

Well my friend, I just put up the link today so there haven't been any donations, essentially RationalWiki is currently in the whole $80, and we will go from there. Feel free to donate any amount you like, or none at all even a few dollars will help. The site won't shut down in a week if we don't raise funds or anything like that, but there are somethings we need/should do that require funding. And we will eventually need to take over the costs of the domain name and hosting from Colin. tmtoulouse irritate 16:47, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

The novelty of it is starting to wear off, he is not really much of a rhetorical match, I think I am almost ready to start being more hands off the next time he pops up. CP sysops are like a black hole they just seem to drain productivity and fun wherever they go. CP itself must be what happens when half a dozen such black holes merge.
