Talk:Greater Israel
Daniel Pipes[edit]
Can we find a better source for debunking this than Daniel Pipes, who in any other context would be considered a far-right nut? --Annanoon (talk) 14:10, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
Israel returning territory[edit]
Removed the line suggesting Israel returned occupied territory during the Six-Day War. This is incorrect. The Sinai was returned in full in 1989, 22 years after the occupation and seizure of the peninsula. I also removed the line saying "it's safe to say that Israel does not plan to annex them" ("them" referring to additional occupied territory) given the Golan Heights (Syrian territory) is for all intents and purposes annexed by Israel. Rollback[edit]
Edit by Luckywarrior seemed to suggest that this isn’t a conspiracy theory with the line “also considered by some.” Also broadly used incorrectly formatted links to Wikipedia. Chef Moosolini’s Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 07:43, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
- The Movement for Greater Israel was a conservative political party in Israel, founded by Avraham Yoffe, that was active from 1967 to 1976. The party called on Israel to keep the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights after the Six-Day War, encouraging Jewish settlement of those regions. In 1976, the Movement merged with the National List and the Independent Center to form La'am. This is factual, but the other garbage wasn't. Sievert 81 (talk) 07:49, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
- True. An irredentist page on Israel based on the various borders of ancient Israel could perhaps be written but should kept as a separate page from the conspiracist Greater Israel page. The borders of ancient Israel were substantially smaller than the conspiracist Greater Israel. Bongolian (talk) 08:01, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
Smotrich map[edit]
How exactly would the content of this article square with this incident? Israel has affirmed the continued recognition of the peace treaty with Jordan, but this incident surely would merit a mention, yes? Carthage (talk) 03:26, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
Poor article.[edit]
In my opinion I believe that this article is outdated and inaccurate. it is the current goal of current Israeli Government to expand the borders of Israel and expel and murder any Arabs that happen to get in their way. A somebody. (talk) 01:39, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
- The T.O.I. source you gave, at the end, has Netanyahu giving a caveat on how he interprets the phrase. But I agree it should be rewritten. In Israel, since about 2021, numerous Jewish Israeli groups have recognized Israel is experiencing extreme democratic-backsliding and a lot of influence from the right-wing extremes, some of whom will endorse Greater Israel; a rewritten article could reflect that the changing political situation made this more plausible due to a shifted Overton-window within Israel. The Israeli ground operations in southern Syria also represent another point. Chillpilled (talk) 11:05, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- You can't just blank the entire article. If you want to include new information with recent events, then you can add a note about what Netanyahu said but he may be referring to just the West Bank and the Golan Heights, along with Gaza of course. Yes, it should still be opposed due to the sabotaging of two-state solution but I don't see any evidence of an ambition to annex parts of neighbouring countries beyond that. I have reverted your blanking of the page. Jono (talk) 16:19, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- The Israeli Government is full of expansionist fascists, it doesn't take a genius to see what direction they are heading in. And oh didn't they occupy MORE syrian land after the fall of the Assad regime? A somebody. (talk) 20:23, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- The Israeli military moving into the ceasefire region in Syria after the fall of Assad was effectively about the Golan heights. I'll tell you what, when they start annexing territory from Lebanon and Egypt and we have verifiable information in the news about it, then we can consider the "Greater Israel" more than a conspiracy theory, not before. Jono (talk) 16:46, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- There is in fact a movement within the illegal settler community to colonize Lebanon. Antares (talk) 04:19, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- This is just another example of "the Israeli government is doing bad things therefore this antisemitic conspiracy theory isn't a conspiracy theory any more." Until we have actual, concrete, undeniable evidence that Israel is trying to expand its borders beyond the Levant, or they start invading their neighbors again and annexing territory as Jono said, there are no grounds to say this is anything more than conspiracy. - While this isn't (as of yet) an official policy goal of the Israeli government, it's definitely not as fringe an idea as it once was. In addition to that article discussing the group wanting to colonize southern Lebanon, Netanyahu himself has affirmed the "vision" of Greater Israel. There's also the crap they're pulling in Syria, which are very much obvious land grabs despite what some parties in this thread claim. Remember that it took Israel until 1981 to annex the Golan Heights, despite seizing that territory back in 1967. Antares (talk) 05:31, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
- Bibi himself is talking about Greater Israel, he even used this expression.[1] I have no time nor interest at editing this article, but I'll put the "update" and "problematic" templates on it. GeeJayKWhere all evil dwells Where every lie is true 12:49, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

- I think we should also recognize the Israeli far-right isn't immune to picking up ideas from the far-right in other countries. Much has been said about the Western far-right taking ideas directly from Israeli nationalists, but not as much about the other way around. There may be an idea of "fine, if you insist this is what Jews are, we'll be your villain". Recall Netanyahu's son posting antisemitic memes of Soros, for a great example of how this influence happens. They're on the same internet as anyone. Chillpilled (talk) 23:19, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
