Think[edit]

@RipCityLiberal What do you think so far? --Sexy Trans Zombie (talk) 18:39, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

@Rationalzombie94 This is a great start. I was literally thinking about starting a page on this the other day.-RipCityLiberal (talk) 20:33, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
Considering that their tactics amount to terrorism and are considered a terrorist group by Estonia, it works. --Sexy Trans Zombie (talk) 20:56, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
REALLY needs what happened two weeks ago, when they marched towards Moscow and the Russian Army seemed not to give a damn. Panzerfaust (talk) 08:44, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
And then turned around and went home for no reason at all. WHY? 192.24.105.251 (talk) 16:52, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

Africa[edit]

This article could do well to cover Wagner's activities in Africa. They have a long history of human rights abuses, but only became relevant to the West when they started doing the same shit in Ukraine. Suddenly everyone's a Wagner expert, but they still ignore Wagner's activities in Africa and to a lesser extent in Syria. Carthage (talk) 20:22, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

Agreed. I just saw a few documentaries focusing on Wagner's operations within Africa and their treatment of natives and locals, so covering them should be missional. Don't forget their operations in Venezuela too. Rational Dude (talk) 21:03, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
There are some pretty good documentaries about Russia/Wagner in CAR on YouTube, one by the Dutch broadcaster VPRO (in Dutch with English subtitles) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6ORt4Spihw&ab_channel=vprodocumentary and one by Franco-German channel Arte (in English) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guUPnQeVj0Q Euromec (talk) 20:39, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

Plane crash[edit]

Will note the breaking news - how soon will the conspiracy theory/ies emerge?

Dzhokhar Dudayev was killed by a 'flying down the phone signal' missile - would this be possible here? Anna Livia (talk) 19:57, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Draft for Prigozhin[edit]

I thought this would be relevant for several reasons, so I made a draft for Prigozhin that I need help expanding since I’m editing other articles too: https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Draft:Yevgeny_Prigozhin Rational Dude (talk) 20:04, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

The crash was breaking news when I commented (and English WP has not yet caught up even now): the DD reference may or may not be relevant.
Whatever the 'cause' Putin will be blamed. Anna Livia (talk) 23:43, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
Are you planning on contributing to this article or not? Rational Dude (talk) 00:07, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
Not at present - just flagging up something outside my area of engagement.
Only some of the various-language WP main page mention the incident yet (I may not read the language but so long as I can 'read or decipher' the text I can recognise a name - whether Prigozhin or Wagner (including phonetic variants)). Anna Livia (talk) 11:27, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
Okay then. If you know anyone who can help expand this article, please share the link with them, I could use the help. Rational Dude (talk)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────I think that neither Prigozhin and Utkin deserve their own article here, and that the contents of both articles should be merged into this one, and that their individual entries should be redirected to this article. There simply isn't enough material outside of their association with Wagner (or interest in the community) that merits them having individual articles. —cosmikdebris talk stalk 13:41, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

I disagree, I think they both warrant having their own articles. Especially Prigozhin, since there’s a lot of information documented about him. Rational Dude (talk) 14:10, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
We have an article on the Internet Research Agency. Carthage (talk) 19:27, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
Okay? What does that have to do with what we’re talking about? Rational Dude (talk) 19:45, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
"There is little material to justify an article on Prigozhin outside of his association with Wagner." Prigozhin funded the Internet Research Agency. Carthage (talk) 19:49, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Suggestion[edit]

As 'Prigozhin and the impact of his death' (there are already suggestions that he might not actually have been on the plane), and 'the activities of the Wagner group in the past, and now that its leaders have been removed' (does it get absorbed into some other organisation, collapse with little impact, particular subdivisions get involved in different activities in Europe, Russia, Africa and elsewhere etc) will be distinct stories for the near future have two separate articles, and when the stories 'stabilise' merge them into one article.
