RationalWiki's 2018 Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff — we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

If everyone seeing this today donates $5, we will meet our goal for 2018.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

History of atheism[edit]

I've deleted the article from mainspace and moved it here. It needs a lot of work before it plays in the big leagues. Thanks for your understanding. She said her name was Billie Jean and she was fresh in town/I didn't know her stage-line ran from hell. 22:30, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Editing Style[edit]

Look, let me start off by saying it's great to have you here. You have a lot of enthusiasm and that bleeds over into your edits. However, having observed your edits, I think you may want to consider adjusting your style a bit. First of all, this is isn't a blog. We need some citations on anything that's controversial and/or based on opinion. You can't just go around saying anyone who claims to be a Trotskyist is full of bullshit In this same vein we need to adhere to the law regarding libel and such. This includes putting alleged when discussing court cases and such. Second, you need to curb the ranting. It comes across as incoherent and defeats the message you are trying get across. It's ok to be dispassionate once in a while, the facts can deliver the point far better than rhetoric. Finally, try to stay on topic and make sure the information you are adding is more than tangentially related to the article. Again, these are my own personal observations, feel free to ignore them or to get other people's opinions. Captain Swing (bringer of nachos) 08:06, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

A few other tips: learn what words are and are not proper nouns. Learn how to link obvious terms in your writing to other articles in the wiki. She said her name was Billie Jean and she was fresh in town/I didn't know her stage-line ran from hell. 13:18, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Seriously.[edit]

Proper nouns and common nouns. Please learn the difference. She said her name was Billie Jean and she was fresh in town/I didn't know her stage-line ran from hell. 21:28, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Seriously, I have a Bachelor's degree, maybe you need to improve your reading comprehension skills.--Andrewstewart1 (talk) 21:44, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

OOOOOH, a Bachelor's degree. Impressive. Go back and review your notes from the writing seminar they made you take back in your first year, because you make a lot of fundamental errors. Get over yourself[edit]

I'm done being polite as well, you've posted nothing but rants since you got here. I and others have been patient with you, but this is not your personal fucking blog. Your contributions are appreciated, but you cannot go around making rash generalizations and sweeping accusations without evidence other than your own fucking opinion. You have a bachelors? Congrats, so do many other people editing this wiki and much more. I'm not "stalking" you, I check the recent changes every once in a while, and who pops up? You do, with more rants. Seriously, get the fuck over yourself. Captain Swing (bringer of nachos) 21:52, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Your a fake, you have no idea about basic facts, and you piss me off with a very snotty and authoritarian attitude, now fuck yourself and never contact me again, creep.--Andrewstewart1 (talk) 21:55, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
"Your a fake." First, it's "you are" or "you're," and second, you remind me of someone. Osaka Sun (talk) 22:06, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
Now, now. Our most learned and erudite friend here has that most elusive and rare qualification: a bachelor's degree, dontcha know. Uneducated plebes such as we should not bother him about such frivolities when he is busy thinking the big thoughts. She said her name was Billie Jean and she was fresh in town/I didn't know her stage-line ran from hell. 22:11, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

My B[edit]

I'm not going to let myself get meaner than I already have, which was unacceptable. I apologize, seriously here, and want to just say this was due to my own bad, I should chill. Can I cut the bullshit here and we be chill, we don't have to exchange cocktails, just be respectful?-Andrewstewart1 (talk) 22:11, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Linking to that other wiki.[edit]

It's not really done. Thanks! Let my inspiration flow/In token lines suggesting rhythm. 17:16, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Section headers[edit]

Hi there. Section headers don't take title case 'around these parts. Only capitalize the first letter of the first word, and, of course, proper nouns. Let my inspiration flow/In token lines suggesting rhythm. 00:04, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Something else you can do.[edit]

When you write an article, try create links to obvious targets. Pages with no links to other pages are a drag. Thanks. Let my inspiration flow/In token lines suggesting rhythm. 17:07, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
