Nice to see that Dawkin's book managed to give us some traffic! (even if it didn't mention us explicitly). narchist 09:35, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Dawkins' New Book[edit]
Is it any good? I was a bit put off by The God Delusion and I don't really trust critics to review books like this. Welcome to the site, incidentally. –SuspectedReplicantretire me 09:43, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'd be interested in you opinion as well.--BobNot Jim 10:56, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I haven't finished the book yet. But my impression so far is very good. It is to some degree written as a reaction to the creationist movement. So it is not surprising that it includes his unabridged opinion about creationism. But it is not an all-out attack on religion like TGD was. The main focus is on explaining evolution and presenting the evidence. And it does that very well. I should say that I did like TGD too. But this is a very different book, in my opinion. - I remember one extract where Dawkins said "I've worn that hat, and now is not the time" to basically say that this one is all about the evolution and not the atheism. Which is good, it's certainly worth him keeping the subjects separate. narchist 11:18, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- I might give it a go then. His books on evolution are superb - The Selfish Gene and The Extended Phenotype are what really told me what evolution was about, the Ancestor's Tale is a fascinating look back at evolutionary history, and the others fill in the gaps. The God Delusion was like someone playing the same song over, over and over again at increasing volume - I liked the song to start with but by the end was heartily sick of it. –SuspectedReplicantretire me 12:01, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Deleting your account[edit]
I could delete your user and talk pages, rename you to "ybegenekn" and hide all of the logs but we don't do that. The closest we could get is deleting your user page and blocking your account, do you want me to do that? Christopher (talk) 09:47, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
