Blogs4Moonbat[edit]

If Linus on that site is you, you should know what I'm asking you. Is it? ɧєɭıסş-get sunburn! 15:28, 12 June 2007 (CDT)

Yep, that's me. Are you suggesting we should start Blogs4Moonbat? ----Linus(plot evil tech) 15:26, 12 June 2007 (CDT)
Not particularly... heh. I love how overused the word "moonbat" is there. ɧєɭıסş-get sunburn! 15:28, 12 June 2007 (CDT)
Seriously, we should start blogs4moonbat.wordpress.com to debunk Blogs4Brownback, in their own medium. ----Linus(plot evil tech) 15:56, 12 June 2007 (CDT)
Should that not be a parody liberal pro evolutionist blog for full irony then? αιρδισΗταλκ 16:50, 12 June 2007 (CDT)
It should combine both. For each post, we'll have a parody and a real debunk. ----Linus(plot evil tech) 16:51, 12 June 2007 (CDT)
How many Evangelicals does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
That's not funny!

Okay, anyone care to help with http://blogs4moonbats.wordpress.com? ----Linus(plot evil tech) 07:42, 13 June 2007 (CDT)

Same advice from the other page, but ...

Looks great. Some stuffs -

  • Do we have a modus operandi vis a vis parodies and refutations of, uh, the other site?
  • Shall we rip off their CSS, but maybe replace red with blue? It might make the comparison a little easier.
  • When do you want us to start 'discretely' mentioning it on discussion threads there?

Good work Linus!!!!!!! --ויִכִּ נתֶּרֶפּרֶתֵּר שְׁלֹום!

  • Yes
  • Yes
  • When we have some stuff to show :).

Thanks for the compliment, Wiki. ----Linus(plot evil tech) 11:17, 13 June 2007 (CDT)

'tis fine. Perhaps I should have added a godspeed (meaning 1) to the post. I see your efforts in the Kelly Clarkson thing - I'm currently trolling free over their pages. It is fun! --ויִכִּ נתֶּרֶפּרֶתֵּר שְׁלֹום!

Just one thing. It's not very funny but it was in my head a while ago and "Brown Worm" has brought it to the fore again. Is Brownback what happens when you bareback brokeback?

The best alternative to “Conservapedia” that I have found is http://www.rationalwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page . They are a group of people actively combating the lies and right-wing terrorism of “Conservapedia”, and could certainly use a hand from all of you willing to help.

Remember we are talking about brainwashing young students here! So, anyone with some experience trolling and fighting back the way it has to be done, check out the RationalWiki.com

This what you asked me about...[edit]

Done! High five!

High five! Yeah, I'm not thinking my best, partially because I'm doing this rather secretively. ----Linus(plot evil tech) 16:53, 12 June 2007 (CDT)

Great. Now that we're done, I realize that there's probably an easier way to go about that. Ah well, just my luck, I suppose. ----Linus(plot evil tech) 16:57, 12 June 2007 (CDT) Haha, you mean at work? Yes, recipe worked great. That bug is a pain, Trent & I ran into when he was creating "Essay:", which is why I sorta knew about it. Now, move ACD to temp and we do it again? I don't know if there is an easier way, but catching it when there aren;t many files to move is the key. Friggin housekeeping... Let's do ACD now! humanbe in 16:59, 12 June 2007 (CDT) You guys are minor deities. Like, maybe Freia or one of those.--PalMD-yada yada 17:01, 12 June 2007 (CDT)

But they are still in the mainspace. Now we need to: Rename ACD to temp and verify (CHECK) delete all the ACD files in main and confirm (CHECK) rename Temp back to ACD, then it's Miller Time! Actually there are a couple of double redirects to clean up, but that's easy. Like we just did with recipe. K? humanbe in 17:04, 12 June 2007 (CDT) Currently deleting ACD's from main... humanbe in 17:08, 12 June 2007 (CDT) Done. And you'd better make it good.

http://www.rationalwiki.com/index.php?title=User_talk:AmesG&diff=next&oldid=15868

You deleted material from a talk page (community property) without archiving, and apparently it is now deleted from the database.

I do not participate in a wiki project to see that crap happen. EVERYONE on a wiki should know that whatever they type, stays around forever.

If it's not back where it was by when I check in tomorrow afternoon (EST), I'll put it back. And block you for a day for the deletion without archiving. I am dead serious. humanbe in 01:56, 17 June 2007 (CDT)

Sorry if my tone was a "bit" harsh there, Linus, and the hour can't be my excuse because I'm always awake at that time. Anyway, I see the "diff" is back in the history, although the deleted info is still "gone". Should it be in an archive? humanbe in 12:51, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
It's fine. Sure, archive it, no problem. --Linus(plot evil tech) 14:47, 17 June 2007 (CDT)

I'm curious[edit]

I see a lot of these 2 second or 1 minute blocks, and I'm curious what the effect on the user is. Does it mean they have to log in again, or what exactly? --Kels 10:33, 17 June 2007 (CDT)

It's the block policy! We block according to the Fibonacci set! --Linus(plot evil tech) 10:45, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
That part I know, but I was curious if the offender would even be aware it happened for the super-short stuff if they don't keep up on the Recent Changes page. --Kels 10:52, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
Pssst… the offender is Icewedge. He's just playing around. --Linus(plot evil tech) 10:57, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
Oh, I don't care about that (let 'im fry!). I just got curious about the mechanics of it, is all. --Kels 10:58, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
As much as I enjoy this exchange, allow me to shed some light here. Blocks don't do anything special, you won't even get a mail or PM telling you you're blocked. You'll stay logged in, you can browse the site just like normal. Watchlist, Preferences, Recent Changes, all that stuff works as usual. The only time you notice it is when you try to edit. Then you get a mean text above the edit window, and you can't submit changes. Mine on CP looks like:

Your user name or IP address has been blocked

The block was made by Karajou. The reason given is This user engages in edit wars and battles with others continually, and refuses to stop. He will not be allowed back except under Aschlafly's discression.

You can contact Karajou or another administrator to discuss the block. You cannot use the 'email this user' feature unless a valid email address is specified in your account preferences. Your current IP address is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, and the block ID is #xxxx. Please include either or both of these in any queries.

In the case of one-minute blocks, chances are you won't notice them (unless you juuust wanted to edit/submit). However, most people notice them in the Recent Changes or by checking their Block Logs. --Sid 11:40, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
That makes a lot more sense of it, yeah. I'd just been seeing those blocks since we'd started up and was wondering what the concept was. Now I've got it, thanks. --Kels 13:02, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
All the one second blocking is my fault I was looking at the information transfer that happens when certain administrative functions are performed. -ĬŴΣĐĝё 13:00, 17 June 2007 (CDT)

The LA Times article[edit]

I see I'm not the only person enchanted by this subject, and that others, specifically you, are a step ahead of me. It turns out that I had written an essay on the LA Times article itself, in addition to making the new category "Utter, profound ...".

I'm not very experienced (to say the least) with creating categories and such, and I may need some expert intervention to get things right. The intention is that the main Conservapedia category would list, as one of its major subcategories (parallel to "blatant plagiarism" and "Schlaflyisms") the "Utter ..." subcategory. Under the letter "U", of course. And that category would list the LA Times article, and the German magazine (the one that our fearless leader thinks has the highest circulation in Germany, even though it doesn't), and the Boston Globe article, etc. Whatever you think is the correct way, though I think it would be cute to have it under "U".

So it seems that there are two LA Times essays. For now, I think they should both be in "Utter ...", and we can combine the best of both into one essay when we have the time. Geez, there's even a pretty picture for the LA Times article, with Latvia, tubas, polygons .... SJIHAS 21:28, 23 June 2007 (CDT)

Bible death penalty.[edit]

I see that you have changed the name of the article to ".... in the Old testament". However the old and new testaments make up the bible. How to counteract CP…? Well, doing work here helps. make an occasional sock run to promote us. To counteract, say, YEC, the best thing to do is simply educate yourself about the real science. --Linus(plot evil tech) 21:50, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

B4B[edit]

Since everyone who's anyone knows that B4B is shorthand for Blogs 4 Brownback, someone should create a redirect page for B4B. I know wiki supports this but don't know how to do it. This is your site, so it's up to you. --Psycheout 22:12, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

Well done. I made a separate article for Random Quotes: B4B:Random Quotes and pulled it out of the main article. It was way too long as a section. I'm not expert at wiki so maybe you can do it better than me. I also made an article for Heliocentrism Is an Athiest Doctrine: B4B:Heliocentrism is an Atheist Doctrine but I neither linked it nor did I pull it out of the main article. Use it as a guide for the other blog entries you excerpt. I'd pull each section out and place it in a separate article. That way you can moonbat away at other selected articles without ballooning the main B4B article. Whatever. Hope this helps. I think it makes it more readable. --Psycheout 23:01, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

The B4B:Random_Quotes page looks like crap, at least in my browser (Firefox). The blockquoted sections do not break properly -- the text flows outside the confines of the quote boxes. Is there a better way to display the quotes? Is this just a layout problem in wiki or at the browser level? Same goes with the main Blogs 4 Brownback page. --Psycheout 22:17, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

See B4B:Heliocentrism_is_an_Atheist_Doctrine. I think this looks much better. --Psycheout 22:33, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

I guess my editing here is done. I didn't mean to step on MiddleMan's toes, but that's the way it goes, I suppose. After you've had a chance to look it over and are satisfied that I didn't damage the article and that it's at least as good or better than before I started editing it, I'd a appreciate a note on my Talk Page. Thanks. --Psycheout 12:25, 14 July 2007 (CDT)

Hey, the math parser is not working for use see: user:Tmtoulouse/math can you look into it? tmtoulouse pester 13:42, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

Well one problem was that there were to instances of enabling TeX and one was set to false, I changed that, but now we need to run "make" in the math directory but we have no shell access. JTL is running scripts for the backup, do you think we can write a script to run "make"? tmtoulouse pester 14:00, 13 July 2007 (CDT)
Prob. Thanks for reminding me, I had almost forgotten about it. --Linus(plot evil tech) 17:42, 13 July 2007 (CDT)
JTL setup a script to run make but apparently we dont have all the needed packages. *sigh* anyway check you e-mail tmtoulouse pester 17:45, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

Template talk:RationalWiki MainPage/AccordingTo[edit]

i tried archiving this and when i put the { { Talkpage } } template into the page it didn't magic up the usual links. can you fix it or should i do something different to the usual archive method? ДιЯɖі$ɧ ɥοםЄʟβЯƏакĐΩωΝ 12:01, 18 July 2007 (CDT)

Hmm… did you have the spaces when you tried it?… If not, I'll look at it. Thanks! --Linus(plot evil tech) 20:52, 18 July 2007 (CDT)
Spaces? I'm not 100% sure about how to archive so I was copying the format for PALMD's archiving. So, no, probably. a i r d i s h 05:47, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

uh-oh. did I offend you, linus? Do you not like vandalism?

Is there an… er, problem right now?…

Actually, I appreciated the pics you used. --Linus(plot evil tech) 21:38, 19 July 2007 (CDT)

Trolling/vandalism is what I do. But a short block would be good.
I take that back. No Block Please! -(this comment (and the other unsigned ones) may or may not have been left by me)
If you don't sign your posts, I'll block you just to thwart your evil plotting communications! humanbe in 22:25, 19 July 2007 (CDT)

I had sent you an email asking for a RW email address and you replied that I could have one, but I never actually got instructions for it....Locke Random 21:24, 31 July 2007 (CDT)

Best of C-Pedia[edit]

So, why did you remove my entry about Tash's "grammer?" PFoster 17:46, 28 July 2007 (CDT)

I had a good reason… e-mail me about it, and I'll inform you in greater detail. --Linus(plot evil tech) 18:51, 28 July 2007 (CDT)

Sure. Where to? PFoster 20:39, 28 July 2007 (CDT)
Usually, that means clicking on "email this user". Of course, for it to work, you both have to have enabled an email address on the wiki. I suspect Linus has. Linus enables everything... he is a turbogeek! humanbe in 20:58, 28 July 2007 (CDT)

A turbogeek I am not. But I found the link....such small print. PFoster 21:58, 28 July 2007 (CDT)

Cool, glad I helped? There are many rich links in the upper left hand side of every wiki page... humanbe in 22:40, 28 July 2007 (CDT)
My e-mail address is turbogeek3.14[at]gmail.com, BTW. --Linus(plot evil tech) 10:54, 29 July 2007 (CDT)

Whatever works easiest would be fine with me. I don't want unnecessary powerz that might confuse or corrupt me (further), though. humanbe in 11:33, 3 August 2007 (CDT)
Thank you, I think :) I am RW's "head janitor" - I should make a self-congratulatory uxb! humanbe in 20:57, 3 August 2007 (CDT)

Oh, and SusanG has informed me that your talk page is up to 39k, meaning she can't wandalize it on her PDA. I suppose her reason was to have me ask you to archive it... humanbe in 11:55, 3 August 2007 (CDT)
