This one is way too late for this year, but I think we should include the "Lee Dorsey Working in a Quote Mine" award for selective quoting of people and articles. Just saying. SirChuckBGo Naked, Hitler Wore Clothes 06:52, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Below here are campaigners[edit]
It may not be obvious, but this version of the talk page is for campaigning for your candidates. ħuman 05:22, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Ed for Delusions of grandeur[edit]
Whilst I think Andy is fine candidate, the person with the greatest delusions of grandeur is Ed Poor. Lets consider the things he has done:
- He boasts about his bureaucratship at Wikipedia, when he was in reality grandfathered into the position because of this tenure there.
- He boasts about the "his" age template being highly used when it didn't even work when he had finished editing it.
- He boasts about being a mathematics teacher, when as we all know, he can't grasp even the simplest concepts.
- He created over 1,000 articles at Wikipedia, but most of them are now redirects.
He actual thing he is good enough at these things to boast about them, when anyone else can see he is an idiot. - π 01:07, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Second nomination, for crying out loud. Ken's in it, right? Because he thinks he owns the internet's opinion? ħuman 04:52, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Ed on WP:
- "==Technical leadership==
I got Tim Starling to create parser functions, so that my {{Age}}
template could run quickly - it's on over 50,000 biographical articles. I also got the developers to let blocked users edit their own user talk page, so they could make their case while in exile."
- & marmitechat 00:20, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- "Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name" ħuman 02:18, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Who...?[edit]
1. Who is FOIA?
- 1.1. Could we have little summaries for each nominee, so that daydreamers like me don't get too confused?
2. Will Ed Poor be recieving the ED POOR IDIOT OF THE YEAR AWARD again? You know how much he's been looking forward to it. 3. Can I put userpage links in? :-) Oh by the way...Talk 02:00, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- FOIA wrote cp:Alger Hiss, you have never heard of him because that is all he has ever done. Ed Poor is getting a lifetime achievement award in idiocy. - π 02:05, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Most of the arguments pro and con (and nominations) are in the archive, for those who are confused. ħuman 04:46, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Do you want to resurrect some? - π 04:48, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure, it might be a lot of work. It would be nice for people to see the arguments pro and con "easily". Links from page to archive sections? ħuman 04:53, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Vote Ed for Bigot of the year[edit]
If only for his constant "Ah so, you speakee English? Numabah 1" attitude towards Jessica when she was still around. --PsygremlinSprich! 17:06, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
The Cry Baby Poo-Pants Award[edit]
"The Cry Baby Poo-pants Award for Childishness" - I feel ashamed for not being the one that thought that one up. SJ Debaser 18:10, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Duplicate[edit]
At least one of the polls has both "Ed Poor" and "Conservative" listed. Is this intentional, like his split personalities? CrundyTalk nerdy to me 19:46, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Huh? They are two distinct "personalities". ħuman 20:49, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Votes By Ace - important stuff[edit]
Ace has a problem wherein his work PC is as high tec as an abacus meaning the little votey tags don't work for me so please take my votes into account here.
- Bigotry - JPatt
- Delusion of granduer - Aschlafly
- Idiocy - Colbert Vandals
- Inaesthetic - Conservative
- Liar - TK
- Paranoia - RobSmith
- Power crazed - TK
- Puerility - Jinx
- Monomania - FOIA
Please to add for me or take into account. Thanks! AceMcWicked 20:05, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, my techn00b neighbours voted for you. - π 14:00, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Misogyny[edit]
Another award that fell sort in candidates but no interest. It had Ed Poor, Aschlafly and JPatt nominated. A fourth? - π 22:27, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe Jinx? He had a long, turgid essay on his blog about how women need to submit. Kind of a weak submission, but if ya needs a fourth. --YossieSpring in Fialta 00:20, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Jinx would be good, Andy will probably romp home though. The big problem is that none will realise what misogynists they are, using the bible as their crutch. - π 01:42, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Ha! That post by Jinx McHue - damn him to HELL!!! - wrongly makes it seem like men need to submit to women more than women need to submit to men! Jinx McHue obviously subscribes to some wishy-washing form of Christianity that bastardizes the Bible and he'll go to HELL for it! SoldierInGodsArmy 23:01, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
How the hell is FOIA winning?[edit]
Bert is a much greater monomaniac. Here is every article he has created or subverted to be about KAL 007:
- cp:Korean Airlines Flight 007
- cp:KAL 007: Timeline of Events, Russian Regime changes, and Investigations
- cp:KAL 007: Its Deviated Flight Until Attack
- cp:Inertial Navigation System
- cp:KAL 007: Timeline of Interception and Shootdown
- cp:Attack on KAL 007: From Inside
- cp:KAL 007/ Russian Ram attempt
- cp:KAL 007: The Russian Explanations for the Missing Bodies
- cp:KAL 007 and the Soviet Top Secret Memos
- cp:KAL 007 on the Water: a sighting
- cp:KAL 007:Floating Shoes
- cp:Water Ditching
- cp:KAL 007 Survivors and Gulags of Russia
- cp:Soviet Officers of KAL 007 Shootdown
- cp:Ronald Reagan's speech on KAL 007
- cp:The Stavitski Account
- cp:KAL 007: Survivor reports and whereabouts
- cp:Jesse Helms: A Tribute
- cp:Larry McDonald
- cp:History Channel Documentary on KAL 007: a critical review
- cp:Miracle on the Hudson and KAL 007
- cp:A Tracking of KAL 007 to Water: An Interview
I have highlighted the one that most demonstrates his monomania. Jess Helms dies so he write at tribute to him, that is weird enough, but it is all about how Helms was tangentially involved with KAL 007. - π 11:40, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- I concur, Bert has demonstrated his monomania far more than FOIA. & marmitechat 12:35, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- The difference is that FOIA makes a million small edits that crowd the Recent Changes pages, which makes him look more obsessed than Bert. Tetronian you're clueless 13:19, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Donde esta Joaquin[edit]
Only just got here so sorry if this has been covered already, but I think Joaquin should be nominated for the 'inaesthetic' award. He just scatters irrelevant pictures everywhere.-- Kriss AkabusiAAAWOOOGAAAR!!1 11:45, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Too right he should be. - π 11:58, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Now he has just over two weeks to close that 50 point gap with Ken
. Come on Joaquín. - π 12:00, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Liability[edit]
I would like to have this as an award, mostly because we had such good name for it. Nominees were: Joaquin Martinez, TK and Ed Poor. A fourth? - π 23:36, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Actual Ken
for the shit job he does on their three most viewed articles. - π 23:38, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- So the nominees and reasons were:
- Joaquin Martinez - for his violation of copyright, which will get them in serious trouble one day.
- TK - because now they have so few editors.
- Ed Poor - because of the way he writes poor article and deletes good one.
- Conservative - because he has hijacked their most popular articles, turned them in to shit and draws attention to them when ever possible.
- - π 23:42, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- I just saw your original post and almost choked because Ken
- So the nominees and reasons were:
wasn't there. I would have been tempted to nominate him four times. –SuspectedReplicantretire me 05:43, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- I did vote for Ed on this one but seeing as TK is in the lead I shifted to Ken to make it even. I think out of the three Ken and Ed a more of a liability in terms of article quality. Ken has single handedly reduced CP to a laughing stock. I think because we watch it so much we have a slightly false perception of CP. We see TK's blocking as hurting the project, but most people never get as far as editing. Most take on look at the picture of Hitler on the main page or read the evolution article, laugh and leave. Ken stops them even wanting to try. - π 05:49, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Ken's Main Page antics have only lately been mentioned here, so I'm just memorializing what people seem to have missed. "Conservative, let's trimimg the images near the bottom of the Main page." (I think he was embarrassed anticipating a bit of traffic for the elections) and SNIPimg. 02:26, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- From one of the old SDG discussions (Ken wasn't in the original) the general feeling was that whilst he is good at search engine optimisation and getting CP links in, he was generally disliked and his antics were embarrassing everyone. He is tolerated more than anything. - π 02:44, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Homophobia[edit]
This was suggested after Karajou's fine effort this morning. How about Karajou, Ken, Daniel1212 and Ed Poor? Anyone we missed? - π 02:17, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Since polling will stay open for a while do we have to be rigid about who's in the field? I say open it up for that group of four and add as contenders emerge. 02:22, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Okay I'll add them. It is just that late entries are going to have a disadvantage. - π 02:39, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Suggestion for name of the Paranoia Award[edit]
I am suggesting the award named as
- The <Fall 2009 Rapture> Award for Paranoia

Pleeeeze?[edit]
I really, really would like to nominate the following quote by KSorenson to receive a special, last-minute write-in CP Day award, "The Dr. Richard Lenski Award for Eloquence in Refutation":
- "You [aschlafly] make it so difficult to be succinct when there's so much you don't know."
She just artfully Lenski'd him in under 20 words - a truly noteworthy accomplishment. My only hesitation is that if she wasn't banned by CP Day this would probably seal the deal. --SpinyNorman 14:35, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Special awards[edit]
There have been a few suggestions for special awards. Which ones do people like? - π 21:36, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- I like the "pwning Andy" award. There are many people in addition to KSorenson who have done an excellent job of bashing the Assfly this past year. (For example, ClementB, and so on.) Also, what is the "wild card" award going to be? Tetronian you're clueless 21:39, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- I don't want to call it early, but it looks like delusions of grandeur. Last years was named after Obama too. ANy other names I am running out of ideas here? - π 21:54, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Purely aesthetic question[edit]
Should the pictures all be 100px wide as they are now or adjusted so they have a more even border around them? - π 22:03, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think they should be the same size as the inner box with the award name. If that's what you meant, then yes. Tetronian you're clueless 22:10, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- What I was suggesting was more like the Sarah Palin one. - π 22:15, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, I see what you mean. In that case I agree; the Sarah Palin one looks good. Tetronian you're clueless 22:26, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- I know she looks good, but which of the two do you like? - π 22:27, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Deadline[edit]
I know you guys know, but just a reminder, CP day is Sat. Nov. 21 My real question is, will they remember? As I recall, last year it was us who reminded them... ħuman 21:19, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- If they still read RW, then yes, they remember. Otherwise probably not. And BTW, what time will the awards be distributed? I want to be prepared to take screenshots. Tetronian you're clueless 21:23, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- Probably the opening of editing CP day.
- D we have any more award suggestions? - π 11:01, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
New pics[edit]
So, Gentleman π sent me off to find more pics for the awards, which is a bit silly, because I don't know most of the people involved, who would make for good awards. That said, I have found the following:
- Arrogant Obama - which we can't copy here, but would be better for the 'Delusions of grandeur' award.
- Kent Hovind
- Bobby Jindal - just because he looks like a sanctimonious prick
- Dick Cheyney - surely there must be one applicable to the King of Grump
- Don Rumsfeldt - if we ever have a doublespeak category. --PsygremlinKhuluma! 17:24, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- I love the Obama one, that would be great for DoG. The Hovind one is creepy, and I'm not sure what it would be for. Not sure what the others could be either; I suppose the Rumsfelt could be for Lies. Tetronian you're clueless 21:42, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
