The word worship refers to a vast set of weird practicies found in many of the world religions. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, worship is " the practice of showing respect for God or a god, by saying prayers, singing with others, etc.; a ceremony for this". However, in practice, not only gods are worshiped. For exemple, humans, goats[citation NOT needed], other animals, books, images (typically called idols). The worship of idols is typically called idolatry (or idololatry by some perfectionists). Many irreligious people think that worship is useless and even harmfull, which is really the case.

Types of worship[edit]

There are many types of worship. These include:

  1. RationalityFaith[citation NOT needed], which is the most basic one
  2. Obedience to his authority and ovoiding sins
  3. Showing love and respect
  4. Prayers
  5. Fasting
  6. Pilgrimage
  7. Sacrifices
  8. Reading holy books such as the Bible, the Koran, etc.
  9. Fighting for the religion and against other religions
  10. In some cases, having a representations (called idol) of the worshipped[note 1]. However, some gods, for example the Abrahamic God, hate idol[citation NOT needed], even representation theirselves, so in this case it would be a sin

Now we are gonna examinate each one of them in more details and see their positive and negative consequences.
