Anyone who calls Reagan "overly demonized" just doesn't know anything about him[edit]

"Helped end the cold war" is vague meaningless garbage that pretty much entirely represents literal coincidence. The actual material things he did to push it along were: arm osama bin laden. End of list. His union busting. It's definitely overlooking the downstream damage of Rhenquist, Scalia, and Kennedy, some of the worst fuckers to ever sit on the supreme court. And hell, the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, was in total support of the first wave of pseudo-scientific antivax bullshit movements. And god, gutting the national mental health system. The pileup of this fuck, and moreover the downstream effect on insanity within the republican party is hard to overstate. Almost every major crisis of today's America has a throughline to Reagan. Just a total scumbucket, and it is impossible to overly demonize an actual demon. ikanreed ๐ŸBleat at me 21:08, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

These are all good points. I should probably revise that section, as it also no longer fits my view of him. Pizza SLICE.gifChef Moosoliniโ€™s Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 21:13, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

Will you update this?[edit]

It'd be cool if you updated this for the Biden administration. Plus, I'm sure Trump isn't any better in your book now that the Capitol storming was a thing. Of course, if you wanna wait or you're just done with this page, that's fine too.TheEndlessVoid (talk) 01:43, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Oh yeah, I did sort of let my essays fall by the wayside, didnโ€™t I? Thanks for reminding me. Pizza SLICE.gifChef Moosoliniโ€™s Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 02:27, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
And promote whoever Abe Lincoln's successor was to "second worst", and add "did 1/6" and "created a rift in his party that led to the 2021 Senate losses in Georgia" to tRump's already massive "the bad" section. --Goatspeed. Louisiana Purchase[edit]

Was that really a good thing though? It certainly wasn't for the indigenous peoples. The Louisiana Purchase was a sale of land declared to be "owned" by foreign colonizers without regard to the people who actually lived there to foreign colonizers without regard for the people who actually lived there. From the perspective of an indigenous person, the Louisiana Purchase was an absolutely terrible thing. Carthage (talk) 21:26, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

Somehow didn't notice this comment until now. You're completely right. Pizza SLICE.gifChef Moosoliniโ€™s Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 02:59, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

there is so much wrong with this.[edit]

1. listing Wilson's supreme court picks as bad thing (fair) but not Grant's (who effectively gutted the reconstruction amendments.)

2. not even making a mention of the fact that the segregation of the civil service started under Taft.

3. Ike worship and no mention of the fact that he let Texas and other southern states that were not Arkansas do their own much less known version of little rock, also the Vietnam War, Laotian civil war, the Lebanon crisis all started/happened during ike's presidency, and oh yeah I forgot he was the one who planned out the bay of pigs invasion.

4. all the 'good' things that happened under Nixon was because of his democratic congress, not because he was some genius pushing for them, and you literally mention that he prolonged the vietnam war so why is that a good thing?

5. The East Timor genocide began under Gerald Ford.

6. The Jimmy Carter section does not mention that he invented the government shutdown because he hated working with congress.

7. the Reagan section should mention that he was the first president to veto a civil rights bill.

8. literally anyone would have handled the aftermath of 9/11 better.

9. how can you literally not mention that Obama expanded the drone war and the war on terror generally and yet list one of two very good foreign policy decisions he made (the Iran deal) as BAD?!?!? A somebody. (talk) 21:53, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, I'll get around to adding stuff that I wasn't aware of at some point. But as a Kansan, I make no apology for being an Ike fan! Pizza SLICE.gifChef Moosoliniโ€™s Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 02:49, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
