2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Cults of personality

Luigi Corvaglia (1966–) is an Italian psychologist and expert on cults and mind manipulation. He is chairman of the Italian association CeSAP (Centro Studi Abusi Psicologici)[1] and member of the Administrative Board of the Scientific Committee of FECRIS (European Federation of Centres of Research and Information on Sectarianism).

Luigi Corvaglia is a free thinker[2] who uses the same arguments the cult apologists use (freedom of belief, free choice, etc.) to demonstrate the contradictions and the inconsistency of their reasoning. Luigi Corvaglia has dedicated himself to unmasking the psychological tricks used by cult apologists to defend high-control groups, underlining the contradictions posed by academics who claim to defend the civil rights and freedoms of the individual, while in reality defending totalitarian groups that deny those rights and freedoms to their members.
