You where the one who crashed RW? Elassint Throw things at me

yep. tmtoulouse heckle 20:24, 12 November 2007 (EST)
Crash! At least it wasn't for long... did you install a new toy? humanUser talk:Human 20:31, 12 November 2007 (EST)
I am playing with idea of only letting anonymous IPs and brand new registered users edit pages "x" times per "y" unit of time to control the amount of damage a vandal can do. tmtoulouse heckle 20:32, 12 November 2007 (EST)
I suggest 3 per hour, and first 72 hours on board. Exception: let them edit their own user and talk page? Possible? How about a way to promote a new user past the restriction if we "trust" them? humanUser talk:Human 20:47, 12 November 2007 (EST)
PS, great idea!!! humanUser talk:Human 20:55, 12 November 2007 (EST)
This idea is terrible. Bohdan 22:12, 13 November 2007 (EST)
Interesting. Cool idea. How about reseting any users to "new user status" if they receive a block longer that, say, 30 minutes.--Bobbing up 04:36, 14 November 2007 (EST)
Good idea, Bob. How about 31 minutes 42 seconds as the "cutoff"? humanUser talk:Human 15:27, 14 November 2007 (EST)

Ha, prefect timing on your part I guess, there was a 3 second window when I copied in the new DPL version for an extension upgrade and for that span of time the settings would "break" just hit it on the money I guess. 21:32, 14 November 2007 (EST)

oh ok, relief! thought i broke it, lol. Refugeetalk page 21:36, 14 November 2007 (EST)

What have you done?[edit]

I tried to add a question with your new voting system to the main page. It showed up fine on the template page, but not on the main page, it said there was an error of some sort. Obviously, this is your fault, and it speaks volumes about your lack of skills. Can you fix this, or is it beyond your simple level? Thanks in advance, Bohdan 22:05, 13 November 2007 (EST)

The voting system is essentially a hack designed for a specific purpose, both the extension and the templates I am using are not really extendable beyond WIGO. If for some reason we see a future use for the system beyond WIGO I can think about creating a more general purpose system. In the mean time you could create one and I will install it. 22:49, 13 November 2007 (EST)
Once again, you respond to me calling you out for your foolishness without logging in. Why are you so ashamed? Are you still troubled by your schooling? "In the mean time you could create one and I will install it." I am not going to do your work for you, former CP sysop. Now go, if you have the skills, and fix the problem. Bohdan 23:40, 13 November 2007 (EST)
No response? Is that the way you get out of fixing problems? Please, do the work you are required to do! Bohdan 00:12, 14 November 2007 (EST)
How can I be expected to do the work with all these distractions you give me! tmtoulouse heckle 00:14, 14 November 2007 (EST)
Enough of your pathetic excuses! I am going to request a community ban against you. Bohdan 00:16, 14 November 2007 (EST) spilled water on TK and hes melting...mellllllting. 00:19, 14 November 2007 (EST)

Both. 15:23, 14 November 2007 (EST)

User page[edit]

Please lock my user page to prevent liberal deceit and libel. Godspeed. Aschlafly 16:28, 14 November 2007 (EST)

Hm, I am conflicted about this......I guess its our policy to allow protection of user namespace pages (people do it for their sigs, ect. and we do it for retired users)......but if you really want to see libel check out Andrew Schlafly. tmtoulouse heckle 17:25, 14 November 2007 (EST)
The only vandalism has been by an anon IP. Protect from IP's perhaps?--Bobbing up 17:28, 14 November 2007 (EST)
I dunno, I don't think its a big deal the only person that should edit it is Aschlafly or whoever this is..........and they want it protected............I open to suggestions though if others wish to chime in. tmtoulouse heckle 17:32, 14 November 2007 (EST)
I'm cool with it - but if it becomes common, it'll mean people looking for a sysop each time they want to edit their own user page. But for one unusual user, I suppose it makes no big difference.--Bobbing up 17:35, 14 November 2007 (EST)
I would say that protection should only exist for user pages that will remain stagnant and not change either by choice of the user or through retirement. If there is a need to unlock a page it should not be locked again for awhile after. tmtoulouse heckle 17:36, 14 November 2007 (EST)
I agree. Unless you could break the software so that only the user in question can edit their user page/subspace, which would be sorta cool, but spoil things for our internal vandals. humanUser talk:Human 17:47, 14 November 2007 (EST)

smoke damage[edit]

Did you ever implement that "new user slowdown" feature? Wuz they even "new"? humanUser talk:Human 16:20, 21 November 2007 (EST)

No, there are some complications to the rate limiter (have to setup a caching server and some other stuff) that led me to put it on hold. tmtoulouse heckle 17:42, 21 November 2007 (EST)
While on the subject of anti-vandalism measures, I suppose there's no way that page blanking could be made a more tedious task? "Confirm" "Are you sure?" "Please wait 30 seconds." sort of stuff?
Anything is possible it just a matter of coding it and how well I can code. I am learning PHP by essentially trial and error and back tracking through wiki code to a pain in the ass. I will mull over the idea. tmtoulouse heckle 13:15, 23 November 2007 (EST)

I have got root access to everyone RW is on. I run the webserver for it. If you can code something lets see if we can do it. The built in ratelimiter requires memcache and I havent gotten around to setting that up. tmtoulouse heckle 14:56, 23 November 2007 (EST)

Saving pages?[edit]

Since Conservapedia tends to erase, not just pages, but the history of pages containing anything embarrassing, why don't we make an effort to save pages that are likely to suffer such a fate. By "save" I mean right clicking and going to "Save Page As...". (Assuming you're a Windows user. I don't know about Macs or Linux.) Later we can upload them (assuming it's possible to upload an entire page) onto RationalWiki under the Conservapedia namespace. Or perhaps under a new namespace; "Evidence", or some such name. Why won't the real, logged in tmtoulouse speak to me? Is he afraid I will school him like O'Leary did (and did she ever). user talk:Bohdan 21:43, 16 January 2008 (EST)

You really O'Leary's sock aren't you? 21:45, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Perhaps. Stop logging out. user talk:Bohdan 21:46, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Okay. Etaroced 21:47, 16 January 2008 (EST)
  • Did you see the sweet template for the non-materialist neuroscience article?
The author of this article was schooled by Denyse O'Leary.

user talk:Bohdan 21:48, 16 January 2008 (EST)

Sweet. But no..Etaroced 21:50, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Ohhh, two periods. Looks like someone is perverting the English language... user talk:Bohdan 21:50, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Mismanagement perhaps but not perversion. Etaroced 21:51, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Still it is misuse, and that requires a block. But since this was not as serious as a perversion, you can block a different user (like Pinto), and call it good. user talk:Bohdan 21:55, 16 January 2008 (EST)
I do not have blocking rights. Etaroced 21:57, 16 January 2008 (EST)

  • Why didn't we comment Denyse O'Leary's arguments out of existence?-αmεσ (historian) 22:00, 16 January 2008 (EST)
  • Que? Etaroced 22:00, 16 January 2008 (EST)
  • No, tmtoulouse cried after I made clear to him he was schooled. user talk:Bohdan 22:01, 16 January 2008 (EST)

Did we just find out about this today?-αmεσ (historian) 22:03, 16 January 2008 (EST)

No, I commented on her blog and she refused to post them. But there was nothing to reply to, she didnt make a single argument. Etaroced 22:03, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Then I don't really think we got schooled, Bohdan...-αmεσ (historian) 22:06, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Ames, you didn't get schooled, Tmtoulouse did. user talk:Bohdan 22:34, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Probably because your only response was to call her a parasite (how rational). user talk:Bohdan 22:05, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Huh sure...Etaroced 22:05, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Should we make a side-by-side? Granted she seems to be mostly ad hominem.-αmεσ (historian) 22:06, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Thats pretty ironic ames. user talk:Bohdan 22:07, 16 January 2008 (EST)
She is a well known fucktard, but it might require refutation.--PalMD-Did that sound a little harsh? 22:26, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Heh. Yeah, she really seems all ad hominem. user talk:Bohdan
You misunderstand. She happens to be a fucktard. She is also someone who is notorious, as she shows in her post, for having very weak powers of reasoning.--PalMD-Did that sound a little harsh? 23:02, 16 January 2008 (EST)

Sorry about relocating Tom Cruise so quickly without discussion. I was just about to move it back after reconsidering. That was rather trigger-happy of me. --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 15:05, 23 January 2008 (EST)

It is not THAT hard just pull out the pieces so its " 't' 'm' 'toulouse'" and toulouse is easy enough, the ancestral rhyme that has descended many generations in my family is "not too tight but too loose." Which is why my cousins marriage announcement in the news paper made it on to Jay Leno it was the "toulouse-weiner wedding." tmtoulouse heckle 00:37, 30 January 2008 (EST)
I have trouble with the "Tmt", the rest is fine. -- kjm.rt  00:49, 30 January 2008 (EST)
...Because "-oulouse", as everyone knows, is not only easy to pronounce, it's even a real word. </sarcasm> --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 05:07, 30 January 2008 (EST)
It's the initials that throw a person off. I keep wanting to pronounce your name "tumultuous". --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 05:07, 30 January 2008 (EST)
I prefer mangling it as "Timmy Too Loose". But it's really pronounced "Trent". humanUser talk:Human 12:28, 30 January 2008 (EST)
