Personal sandbox and other user pages
Your main user page is not the most appropriate place for a draft - people generally expect to see something about the particular user when they click on the link. :) You can create a sandbox sub-page of your user page, as well as any number of other sub-pages. The full address/title would be something like "User:Velenah/Sandbox", and on your user page, you can link to it with the shortened syntax, [[/Sandbox/]].
As for the article/essay/page that is under construction, I don't think that the side-by-side format is the most suitable for what you are trying to do. It was intended for the point-by-point dissection of longer texts, not for relatively short quotes. If you need an easy way to differentiate your comments from the quoted text, you can have a look at Template:Quotebox - I think it would serve your needs better.--ZooGuard (talk) 15:47, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
