Greetings, Willis, and welcome to that unfunny gymnasium of the interwebs, RationalWiki! Glad you could join us! Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 21:34, 26 September 2008 (EDT)

Are you watching the debate?Willis 21:42, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
- Nah, I was having dinner. I can watch recordings of it at my leisure. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 22:50, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
- Good luck listening to McCain horribly mischaracterize not only Obama's positions but his own too.Willis 22:58, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
I lurk here alot at work but just created an account.Willis 21:45, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
- Hm. I've been hearing a lot of that recently from newcomers. Perhaps we're maturing as a wiki? Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 22:50, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
- Welcome Willis, West-Winger! Yes, many of us have gone thru what you're going thru. I, myself, used to be unflinchingly biased, unthinking, unyielding to facts ... that was me before i became a Libertarian, now a selfless individual, putting all others before me, considering first how i may heal a sick world.
- You don't care about facts? Great, you can slide directly into your new Libt role -- we're all about principles -- i never let the facts get in MY way. (They're oft-times too messy.) But i better check first and see if there is still an opening among our ranks. There is quite a queue, all sort of folk clamoring to became a Libertarian.
- I am very attracted to a Libertarian point of view. but I also have very socialist tendicies. ie I believe that there are areas where the gov't should being running the show. Examples include education and healthcare. Its fine for the govt to provide basic services but they shouldn't tell you how to make use of them.Willis 13:15, 27 September 2008 (EDT)
- // When asked what they would cut to save money in order to combat the finacial crisis why don't any presidential canidates say the DEA!
- YES! You have earned your first merit badge and are well on your way to becoming a sterling Libertarian. (Secret -- neither Obama nor McCain are Libts.) (Thassafact.)
- It is hard to believe that most Americans favor spending the tremendous amount of money allocated now to lock up non-violent offenders who commited consensual crimes.Willis 13:15, 27 September 2008 (EDT)
- Their debate last night made it clear they are both master-debaters.
- // Obama would demolish McCain if he would just stop holding back and go for the fucking throat!
- You mean instead of emphasizing how much he agrees with McCain while McCain hacks away at him?
- Yes! Exactly I don't know how many times he said "Yes John" or "John is right". I think a little mockery would have gone over really well!Willis 13:15, 27 September 2008 (EDT)
- It apparently worked out in Obama's favor according to a couple of polls i heard. In my opinion they both made a very poor showing. McCain came off as obnoxious and Obama appeared hesitant and unsure -- neither seemed presidential. Had Obama played his hand differently, he probably would have lost some of his charisma.
- I know it is humanly impossible to be up to the task of being president of the US, but these two are REALLY not ready for prime time. There has to be a better method for choosing the leader of a Republic.
