Michael Jackson | Result: Deleted[edit]
Delete[edit]
- Extremely questionable missionality. How does it benefit RationalWiki to wallow in the mire of tabloid gossip? Many of the crappy YouTube references in this article dealing with conspiracy theories related to his death are long gone. And what can they be replaced with? More soon-to-be-dead YouTube crap? I say, delete this pile of crap. —cosmikdebris talk stalk 04:56, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- I am inclined to agree. Most of the article is devoted to accusing him of crimes he was never convicted of. That he was a messed up dude there is no doubt, but none of that really relates to the mission, and I am troubled by such a prosecutorial article about a black man damaged by child-stardom, celebrity, family, and religion. - As per Smerdis and Cosmikdebris. Basically the entire article accuses him of crimes he was never convicted of, and expresses outrage at his "blasphemy" even though we lampoon religion all the time ourselves. --Goatspeed. - I'm with the horde on this one. Mikey J, regardless of whether he's been convicted or even suspected of being a pedo, isn't missional. There are some minor conspiracy theories regarding him, yes, but none important enough to include in an article or be the basis of one. That I know of, at least. I'm open to other possibilities. Keep[edit]
- There's missionality on the page (conspiracy theories, oxygen therapy). Some of the tabloidality could be cut. Bongolian (talk) 05:29, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- theres a lot that could be said about jackson, not least his treatment in the tabloid press ('leave me alone' was all about this). the molestation section could do with being a little more objective - its currently rather selective of its account of his trial and its participants, some of which is just false, and neglecting to state the reasons why the prosecution failed. its clear where this sections writer stands on the question of jacksons guilt, but theres always been a media circus surrounding this that prevents any solid conclusion or to even suggestive of leaning one way or another. theres always been a media circus around jackson. that should probably be something his article should focus on. tldr, there is missionality here, but needs work AMassiveGay (talk) 12:35, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Page is missional. We could perhaps tone down the punditry a bit, but it's at worst just a page with some issues, but none worth enough to warrant deleting it. Techpriest (I am Alpharius! / / / ) 19:13, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
