#Any reason why a meme is on RW? Hardly missional. 01:05, 3 October 2016 (UTC)— Unsigned, by: CheeseburgerFace / talk / contribs
Keep[edit]
- It is missional because of its connection with the Alt Right, white nationalism and neoreaction, as the article explains. If those topics are missional – and I guess they fall under mission statement point 3 ("Explorations of authoritarianism and fundamentalism"), and maybe also mission statement point 2 (Documenting the full range of crank ideas) – then this is missional too. The original form of the Pepe meme isn't missional, but the association it has formed with far right politics is. (((Zack Martin)))™ 01:08, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- I missed that somehow. If that's the case, that's better, but is there enough content on Pepe to warrant an article or should it go on the 4chan page if it's mainly a 4chan thing? —HamburgerPlate (talk • stalk) 01:16, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- It has gone far beyond 4chan now. Donald Trump posted it on Twitter and the Clinton campaign condemned him for doing so. Multiple mainstream media sources covered that. 4chan is generally acknowledged as the place where it gestated but many people who have no idea what 4chan is are aware of Pepe's association with the Trump campaign. - Well since you posted that content on the wiki, it looks like the article is missional e.g. I vote that it stays. —HamburgerPlate (talk • stalk) 01:27, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, so if you have changed your mind about this, I suggest you update your Delete vote above to make clear that you are withdrawing it. (((Zack Martin)))™ 01:38, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

- An article like this looks like more Top Kek, potentially bridging the Rick & Morty season gap. My full support. And what could possibly go wrong? ~ Aneris ✻ 14:46, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
Merge/redirect[edit]
- It should be merged with 4Chan Tuxer (talk) 03:25, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- I don't agree because Pepe has become much broader than 4chan. Trump posting Pepe on Twitter got media coverage and doesn't really have anything to do with 4chan any more. 4chan is an important part of the history of Pepe but Pepe is now much broader than 4chan.
