Welcome back - assuming you're who I'm assuming you are - great Parthian Shot.PFoster 13:35, 19 May 2008 (EDT)

Yep, just couldn't remember it.

Welcome back after your tour of duty. Hope the PTSD isn't coming down on you too hard. Lie back and bask in the glow of your cluelessness. DogP 13:38, 19 May 2008 (EDT)

AdenJ[edit]

Hi Az, this be AdenJ. I would have replied to you via CP however my IP is blocked (only from this computer - work). Just to explain what I posted last night (night for me) When I said there was no right, I meant that Andy cannot say he is right on these issues (gun control, school prayer et al) over someone else who thinks they are right. Andy's slim wedge of whats right is in the extreme and others do have a middle of the road positions.

No problem, I apologize if I seemed to come down on you - I always feel like I have to mind my p's and q's over there. That's almost over now, though. Thanks for taking the time to stop in and clarify, I appreciate it. :) Az 17:27, 21 May 2008 (EDT)

Yup, I try too watch myself but I have been blocked before over there for suggesting *shock horror* that school prayer belongs in a school chapel. Anyways, I have a user name here however I just havent signed in yet. I let you know when the walls crash in on my account over there. There are subversives everywhere you know.... AdenJ

  • snicker* Solidarity, brother! (Great, now I'll be branded a communist :p) Az 19:54, 21 May 2008 (EDT)

Communist? Dont say that word around here, you'll get them all excited......conservatives have muscly ears for hearing liberal snickers. AdenJ

Prayer[edit]

Maybe you should have just given the dog the biscuit it wanted... i.e. perhaps you should have just said "yes I would support school prayer" and moved on. Subtleties and context are beyond his grasp, so although he requested you be "forthright", to do so ultimately led the discussion to a stall - as Andy is unable to grasp the notion of non-absolute answers being true. UchihaKATON! 02:21, 24 May 2008 (EDT)

I've thought about if someone actually said they supported classroom prayer. Back in the earlier times of CP, Andy defined classroom prayer as a classroom starting off the day with the entire class praying, while kids who didn't want to participate can leave the classroom and wait until prayer is finished (his ultimate "we are a minority and this shows no discrimination" view). So if one were to say yes, he'd simply keep asking in detail what they actually support, probably hijacking the discussion entirely to the dumbed down point of "Oh, so you do! Well, nice to know someone who does *ends discussion*" or "Well, that clearly shows discussion with you is impossible *end discussion*". Either way, since you've finally(?) decided to give up on CP, you should be "forthright" and tell him to stop trolling with that lame tactic. NorsemanWassail! 03:14, 24 May 2008 (EDT) (36? Too old for me, sorry >_<)
I'm sure he'd be perfectly comfortable with my hypothetical kid leading the class in an invocation of Athena, Goddess of War and Wisdom, right? I mean, his sprogs can leave the room if they don't want to join in... :-P --Gulik 05:02, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
I'm curious why anybody thinks me telling him anything would actually accomplish something? I edited most of my posts very carefully, deleting most of my arguments in favor of x or y position. He's not going to debate the merits of any political issue.
I had mild hopes, after the conversation began, that he might be willing to discuss Conservapedia, but my original post was really just my committing sepuku on his temple steps. The fact that it took 3 days was surprising, but the end result looks a lot like what I expected. Az 11:53, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
I think your posts were excellently presented, and I'm not saying it would have "accomplished" anything per se... I was just wondering what would actually happen if someone said they agree entirely with his stance on school prayer. Would he actually let them make the point they were trying to make in the first place without derailing it? Or would he just move on to another issue to sidetrack you with? Your's would have been a fantastic example because it was so well done, if you could've somehow gotten past the "SCHOOL PRAYER? SCHOOL PRAYER?" point his reaction might've been very interesting. UchihaKATON! 20:57, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
Well, we enjoyed your card-tricks, even if the dog didn't understand them. --Gulik 20:02, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
If there was a class of (say) 30 pupils & Andy offered to pray with one & the other 29 all left, I wonder what he'd do. he's assuming a majority on his wavelength, from what I know of kids they'd love to blow teacher out of the water. SusanG  ContribsTalk 20:08, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
Guilk, thanks, I appreciate the kind words. I'm not really sure that I expected anything, it was more for my own benefit if you know what I mean...?
Susan, bear in mind that his class is not a random selection of students. As part of his homeschooling association (or however they're organized) they're much more likely to be sympatico with his methods. Not saying your underlying point is wrong, but he's insulated from that possible reaction. Az 20:13, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
Insulated from reality is what he is. My heart goes out to you Az, you've made a bigger effort than anyone ever has before to extend an olive branch towards dialogue rather than confrontation. The fact that he has always, consistently, 100% of the time chosen confrontation really says something about him. Paranoid, deeply insecure as a result of a strong Mommy figure, he's become a really pathetic individual. I wish the kids or their parents could see the damage they're doing to their futures by leaving their education in his hands. It'd be sad if it wasn't criminal. DogP 20:24, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
True Az, I was thinking of a "public school" setting - not Andy's own coterie. SusanG  ContribsTalk 20:33, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
Not to go off on you, DogP, but one of the things that always rubs me the wrong way was the assumption that a strong mother figure creates evil people. Would you have said the same thing if Phyllis Schlafly were his father? Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 22:08, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
