Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, just had to post my deal here. Pissed to no end that some schmuck called me a liar, which is dumb because this is the internet. Thanks big to Nutty and while your getting drunk on the 4th, drink one for me as I will be stuck at Ft. Benning for 6 weeks of fun, games, and no internets!--DylanB 03:49, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Ban Hammered from CP[edit]
While responding to a rational wiki "What is going on at CP?" I made the fatal flaw of posting on this website. Shame on me.
I was banhammered soon thereafter, which in retrospect may have been a good thing with articles such as the Obama masterwork becoming the norm and not the exception.
On this site I wrote. Prior to ban.
"Meh, it inspired me to write that thing on the military surprise question. I joined CP when one of my soldiers was reading it. Apparently he did a few courses there, the soldier in question believed he had a working knowledge of history and was dismayed at his inability to be accepted into a continued education program. Awaiting the banhammer for going against almighty andy. - Dylan.Biery --209.189.246.212 22:18, 4 June 2009 (UTC)"
Banhammer followed and I shot this appeal up via email.
- To whom it may concern,
- My Conservapedia account was banned today for visiting the website rationalwiki.something. I posted a single comment on that site and signed it with my IP address as I am not a member of that community. The comment was in relation to a history question hosted on Conservapedia and was not supportive of the rationalwiki community. As an off and on again editor of Conservapedia, my goal is to expand various stubbs while trying to stay out of the debates as much as humanly possible due several of my dependents frequent use of the site.
- I ask that the ban be removed as I post on the website in good faith and do not condone or support the use of any cybervandalism.
- Ban #54114
- IP 209.189.246.212
I also tossed this up on the What's going on talk page
- In the interest of space, they should. For the hell of it, I sent TK a nice email requesting to be unbanned as I have an interest in keeping tabs with my subordinate's edits and am not really a liberal. Its nice to know what a good American he is, banning us petty un-american American soldiers. On the bright side, I did win a small amount of money for going unbanned for more than two weeks but had hoped that the quality of my edits would allow me to keep my real name. Remember kids, military history is FUNdamental.
- And who cares if TK can see my house? I like my house! -Dylan Biery --209.189.246.212 00:43, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
A bit on the angry side if I say so. But, not the worst thing in the world.
TK responded to my request in a mature and civil fashion
- And given your comments at RatWiki, identified by the Los Angeles Times and their own members as a vandal site, why would I restore your membership?
- You should be giving thanks that I no longer work at the White House, or you would have already seen the results of such unprofessional activity as you admit to above. Please explain why I should not forward a copy of this to any number of active duty Army officers I know who would take a personal interest in your activities. I will sleep on it, decide in the morning.
- I suggest to you that it is long past time for you to stand down.....
- --TK
Scary words right? I like the bit where he tells me to "stand down" after the terrible offense of a ban appeal. In the interest of ensuring that I was within the requisite regs on email documentation for this sort of thing I sent a single reply.

- Tk,
- A simple no may have sufficed rather than veiled threats on my career. However as you are the point of contact for the website and this is the last step in the Conservapedia ban appeals process, I am unable to take this issue further. Due to the context and tone of your correspondence, I have archived all relevant emails and website entries from both conservapedia and rationalwiki if their future use is required.
- In regards to your threats, I care not what you do. But baseless threats on my professional career are unwarranted and immoral, in the opinion of this officer. I too am glad you are no longer employed in the White House and wish you success in your future.
- Dylan Biery
2nd Lt 10th/3rd BCT
As it stands that was my last correspondence to TK, though he has written me back. Claiming that I don't have the right to keep tabs on a solider who asked me to help with his education, something UCMJ does not have a stance on due too said consent, and that it has always been possible to keep tabs on edits of a wiki without being logged in (IE Any idiot can do what I am doing) but I did it so we could keep in touch via the site from different duty stations in the future. In addition to assuming that I had no consent, he also assumed it was "off duty" time. In point of fact it was off duty time and in compliance with AR 380-19 Appendix B. Also I was an enlisted reservist during my first foray into CP, which busts another hole in ranting of TK.
He also insinuated that I may be stealing the military domain name and am not a member of the military. Either to clear his conscious or too incite further dialog that might actually get me in trouble, if I resorted to name calling and the like.
He also insinuated that he would both fulfill his threats and that I would alter the above discourse, which I could not even do as a copy is hosted by the army internet for quite some time.
So what did I learn from this? Hell if I know. But don't ever take cyberbulling from anyone. Threatening someones livelihood strikes me the lowest of low, more so for the trivial nature of the dispute. Do I care if he follows through with his threats? Not really, I am a lowly butter bar and I doubt any of TK's contacts are in my Chain of Command. Even if they were, I did nothing wrong.
Don't take internet threats seriously unless the threat is one of bodily harm. Intimidation tactics like this crap is par for course at CP. I just wish I saw it sooner.--DylanB 03:45, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Welcome to the clusterfuck of nutjob far-right insanity at CP. What's happened to you has happened before to many users. He emails privately in a very aggressive manner. Don't let it get under your skin, and take a read of our article on him here. Best o' luck, and ignore him. DogPMarmite Patrol 04:04, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- At this point TK has now called me a liar, coward, and insinuated that I have no honor. I sure would love to see his military service jacket....o wait...--DylanB 05:10, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- So now you've seen the "up close and personal" side of our dear old friend TK. Glad you popped in over here and hope you get to do all that edumacationy stuff in your plans. Oh, and Welcome to the Dollhouse! ħuman 04:09, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- For those of us who've had dealings with him, this is all very normal behaviour. Your history post was interesting though, there were things I didn't know in there and that's always good. --Kels 04:21, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- I knew TK was off his tits ever since Philip Rayment left and CP has been going to heck since, as you all know. At least he did violate the terms of use of the army intranet by threatening my job. I went ahead and forwarded that gem to the military police unit that handles cyberstalking and whose commander was from my same college rotc unit, mostly for the lulz. Posting the whole email chain after the "I was going to alter it" thing is the closest I will ever get to flicking that 'man' the bird unless he decides to be a patriot and visit Ft. Drum sometime soon.
- For those who wanted the full story on the history thing I posted over on CP. When I was a cadet at Texas A&M as an enlisted reservist, a freshman ranked e-1 was a victim of Andy's home school class and found himself grossly unprepared for college. He showed me the then new CP and I decided to help him in his studies and writing abilities and created a user name, long since purged, in order to track his progress. After one killer semester, the cadet showed improvement and started editing CP with ever increasing detail and grammar and is likely still doing it. But I will never forget how terrible his level of knowledge was when he showed up and how epicly Andy's "schooling" failed the kid. Texas A&M is a conservative school but, I could not resist showing a proff the Hannibal question to which he laughed hard and then asked me to answer the question for him on the spot. The result being what you see at CP history exam challenges. More and more cadet's at Texas A&M are coming from YEC backgrounds (my best friend among them) due to homeschooling and finding that college is too hard for them. I started way back in 2003ish with 42 cadets in my company, 22 of which were home schooled in religion heavy programs who's teachers had little or no accreditation. By graduation there were 9 of the 42 who made it across the stage, only one of the 9 was a homeschooler.--DylanB 05:01, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Fascinating, Dylan, thanks so much for your story. This has always been my main - perhaps only - beef with CP. I could give two shits about right wing nutcases being wrong on the internet - they're entitled to their fucked-up opinions - but it's the idea that he's filling innocent's minds with horseshit, lies and assertion that really cheeses me off. Still, I guess that from your story there's a 'natural selection' process intervening (ho ho!) as the unfortunate homeschoolers can't make it out the other end. But that's no help to them. DogPMarmite Patrol 05:33, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Indeed there is Dog, Texas A&M has both a civilian and rotc component, the latter making up about 10% of the undergrad population. While it was an experience like no other, cadet life takes a huge chunk of your time (from 0500-0830 school from 0830-1600 and rotc from 1600-2200). I was left with barely enough time to cover my Comp Sci, Physics, Math, and History homework (all of which I at least touched on in High School). The guys and gals who had to learn the material from scratch were eaten alive since A&M is full of weedout classes where the prof says "look left and look right, because when finals come only one of you will be in the class and half of those will fail" After those trials, the army has been a rose filled daydream of stress free life.--DylanB 05:41, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- 1) You might want to enshrine your "story" above on your user page at some point. 2) As I understand it from my feeble prior knowledge, Texas A&M is a pretty serious school, no Liberty U., and your tales reinforce that perception. 3) I hope through some accident of military justice, two very serious, very regular Army MPs turn up at TK's house to "just ask some questions, Sir". Well, we can all have hope, eh? ħuman 06:01, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- I loved that TK is back to his subtle name dropping. He worked at the White House... I won't call him an outright liar, but we'll just assume best case scenario, he was a low level intern. About your un-American Armed Forces Service[edit]
It's total bullshit that TK would pull a stunt like that, Sir, but that's TK for you.
I was Bravo section Sergeant for 1-B/1-89 CAV 2 BCT 10th MTN from 2005-2008. Which squadron/battalion are you in in the 3rd?
I also noticed you mentioned getting out of TRADOC. Are you at the Captain's Career Course? Just wondering. The Foxhole Atheist 14:12, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Just read the post about Benning. Nevermind the TRADOC thing. Have fun at Ranger school! The Foxhole Atheist 14:12, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- You know I will, when i get out of Tradoc (sometime around FEB) I will get my specific unit assignment in the 3rd. Showing up untabbed to Ft. Drum is a real fast ticket back to Benning. Prior to that I was a reservist in conjunction with rotc and did the 2 weekends a month thingy, but did airborne, LDAC, and the like instead of AT.
- Meh, I wouldn't worry TOO much about the tabs as you are a 19A. General consensus is that a scout with tabs is a scout that COULD have been doing something useful with his time, like being deployed. BUT, with you being an LT, I suppose it will let you stand on equal ground (in their eyes, at least) with all of the meatrocket 11As up there. At Drum, Infantry is the be-all, end-all of existence. Be ready for 25 mile (that's miles, NOT kilometers) foot marches and get your snow-shovelling muscles into good shape. October is the start of winter there. Enjoy the microbrew sampler platter at Brewster's Brew Pub at The Commons, too. The Foxhole Atheist 15:22, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- The tab thing is a hold over from peacetime promotions in my book where no tab ment ETSing as a captain. The cold should be a trip though, I hear -40 F is normal and I am a lankey motherfucker who shivers at 70 F. But I have a plan to increase my blubber through the liberal application of fast food. I am dying to go to phase II of mountain warfare school and the striker leader course but, Ranger School may prove useful to both my joes and ego.--DylanB 16:44, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Very funny watching you guys trade military acronyms. It's like peering into the end of a telescope at North Korean signs across the border. Personally I'd take Panny's 720p solution DVCPRO @ 23.98 any day over XDCAM @ 29.97, but that's that's only if the mtor's needs don't snarl up the VOB transcodes and reverse telecines. Either way, the timeline's screwed. DogPMarmite Patrol 17:38, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

- I'm an editor, so I don't shoot much of anything any more, though I used to really enjoy shooting Super8mm. Most of what I work with has been shot on 35mm or HD video formats. And XDCAM is the worst format EVAH! DogPMarmite Patrol 18:58, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

It's interesting to hear that A&M is getting a lot of YEC homeschoolers. Not surprising, I guess. I hope they're not pulling down the standards. I imagine that a lot of professors are having fits over them wanting to "teach the controversy." Corry 14:25, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- You will be glad to know that A&M is all for evolution, my younger sister is there working on a pre-med degree. The science is just too advanced to deny evolution or even "teach the controversy", there is not enough time. I went to one of her classes on Molecular Cell Biology and was amazed at the complexity of the course (I thought optics was hard enough). If you recall the Lenski thing, they do that experiment as a lab project with antibiotics...as undergrads. I do think the corps of cadets pulls in more homeschoolers than the general university population, due to the unfortunate shrinking of each year's incoming cadet class. Thankfully when Robert Gates was president of the university, he implemented plans to reach out to minority populations using the corps of cadets as a scholarship avenue. Forward thinking like that may both improve the work ethic of the corps and improve on the already high quality of there commissioning graduates. Gig'em Gates--DylanB 14:49, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- That's good to hear. Gates was very pro-professor, so I guess I shouldn't worry about the faculty being cowed by outside influences into accepting a crank like Behe into the fold. I'm really glad that Gates did such a good job of steering the University after Bowen stepped down. Corry 15:10, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately A&M when one step forward with gates and two steps back with his replacement who has already been forced to resign for allegedly forcing policies on professors.--DylanB 00:20, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
