The 4B movement is a transphobic[1][2][3] online movement originating around 2017 on Twitter[4], and from the South Korean website WOMAD[5].

Women outside South Korea on social media sites are taking an interest in its tenants following Trump's 2024 election victory[1], hopefully due to a lack of awareness of the less trans-friendly aspects of the original. Hopefully.

Tenants[edit]

Their belief system follows 4 basic tenets, each one starting with bi (Korean: 비, English: no), hence 4 bis Bs,:

  • No dating men (Korean: 비연애; biyeonae)
  • No marrying men (Korean: 비혼; bihon)
  • No hanky-panky with men (Korean: 비섹스; bisekseu)
  • No giving birth (Korean: 비출산; bichulsan)[6]

They exclude trans women from their movement[1][2][3], but not married women (who have broken at least one tenant, and possibly all of them), which just goes to show you that transphobia makes perfect sense.
