Doctor Who is a science fiction tv show produced by BBC. It follows the adventures of a basically immortal alien who habitually abducts invites humans to travel through time and space.

The series is focused around a character called The Doctor, who is an alien called a "Time Lord" from the planet "Gallifrey". The Doctor is able to travel through time and space with their spaceship, the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space), which is disguised as a 1980's British police box. This is because the chameleon circuit, which is supposed to change the TARDIS to look like whatever would fit the environment, became broken when it was in this shape, and has not changed since. Upon sustaining a life-threatening injury, the Doctor is able to regenerate, saving The Doctor and giving them a new body and personality. The Doctor is only allowed 13 regenerations, however due to a Deus Ex Machina The Time Lords giving them a new cycle, they are currently in their fourteenth body.

Traditionally, The Doctor has always been a man. However, at the beginning of the 11th series, The Doctor became a woman, showing that they are able to become either gender. This was the subject of much controversy when it was revealed, which, unsurprisingly, largely came from, however this has for the most part died down.

Allies and Enemies[edit]

The Doctor travels the universe usually with one or more companions.
