Untitled[edit]

Is this a draft on the COVID-19 vaccine? It's about time the wiki made a page about this. Knowing how relevant anti-vaccine hysteria is right now, with considerable effort this could feasibly become a well-ranked article.--April Chat? 14:14, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Magnetic (ElectroBOOM vid)[edit]

Here's a video by ElectroBOOM. He claims that vaccine doesn't make one magnetic. If it makes one able to attract metal stuff, blood clot will happen. 100% DEATH RATE! Exaskliri (talk) 15:00, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

Weird claims about ingredients[edit]

I've come across a few bogus claims about vaccine ingredients, because someone I know is a believer. There's little waves of fake news about such, and conspiracy YouTube videos like to latch on to whatever is trendy at the moment. Here's a debunk link on luciferin in the Moderna vaccine, and here's one on graphene oxide in Pfizer. These claims go along with claims of satanic conspiracies and/or claims that the vaccine is a "kill shot" meant to make people drop dead within a few years. (It may also be interesting, and possibly entertaining, to have a section on the wackiest conspirituality claims that the mRNA vaccines burn away the extra spiritual strands of DNA unknown to materialistic science, cutting people off from God, and dooming souls to hell, etc.) --ApooftGnegiol (talk) 06:25, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

If I knew more about this stuff, I'd add it to the article; This is too entertaining to not do. TheOneAndOnlyCirrusMan (talk) 01:58, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

Move to mainspace?[edit]

I think this article is fleshed out to be moved to mainspace but I can't do it myself.--Gale5050 (talk) 13:48, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

It was moved by Monet.--Gale5050 (talk) 19:07, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

Self contradictory claim in masks & vaccines section[edit]

The claim that "Getting vaccinated protects you from catching the virus (except for some extremely rare exceptions), but if you do it does not prevent you from spreading it to other people like those with compromised immune systems" would imply that someone can spread a virus they aren't even infected with. This could be softened to something like "serious disease" but as it's stated this is pure magical thinking.

I'll also confess that I visited the page to find out how "rational" rational wiki was. And so I assume that it's just regurgitating the "trust The Science" crowd with no rationalism. — Unsigned, by: 174.73.194.114 / talk / contribs

"But I thought this was supposed to be RATIONALWiki!" Drink!cosmikdebris talk stalk 06:16, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the pointer. I'll go edit that page to include "I think a page is making incorrect claims about basic biology" as one of those irrational complaints. — Unsigned, by: 174.73.194.114 / talk / contribs
The best thing to do when you find a problem in an article is to fix it yourself using any sources you have. The page is not protected being vandalised a few times so that IP addresses like you can still edit it. It’s better than directing those exact same childish, beaten to death insults about the website. Oh well. *drinks*𝗦𝗾𝗿𝘁-𝟭 talk stalk 06:51, 14 December 2021 (UTC)

Aborted fetal cells[edit]

According to the Charlotte Lozier Institute, Covaxin does not use the abortion-derived fetal cell line for design, production or testing. However, viral vector vaccines AstraZeneca and Janssen do use the cell line in all three situations. Also, every mRNA-based vaccine (except CureVac) uses it for testing, and some use it for design. I hope this helps clarify matters.

Whether or not this is of concern, is RationalWiki for or against compelled vaccination? This article could use expansion, covering the lotteries, passports, kids and teens concerns and so forth. --LABcrab (talk) 06:40, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

@LABcrab This was already known, it isn't a secret. RationalWiki is neither for or against compelled vaccination, because the active editors that makeup RW have different views in politics and ethics (the only thing that can really be claimed about RW editors is that we are, or try to be, pro-science and anti-authoritarianism, as indicated in our mission statement. However, even then editors aren't banned, and are welcome in fact, if they don't share those views). If you think this article can be expanded, do it yourself, this is a do-ocracy after all. Do keep in mind that you should include citations for your claims, especially in articles like these. Rabbitseatcarrots (talk) 14:14, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

Mark of the Beast[edit]

I actually first encountered this claim regarding the etymology out in the wild, not through that Patheos article. I bet there are more unsound variations of the "Mark of the Beast" claim which could be added. Chillpilled (talk) 23:10, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
