Wizard[edit]
Because of your edits to and time on the wiki, wizard Sysop has been added to your user rights. Feel free to let your newfound POWER course through your veins. Once the high wears off, see RationalWiki:Sysop guide for more information. If you have questions, bleat ask away. β Oxyaena Harass 20:27, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- I'm sure you'll reach sysophood at some point, AprilISTrying. But you've only been active for three days, so it's rather premature for the time being--Hastur! (talk) 20:30, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, but when I say itβs premature after a single day, I get bitched at. πChef Moosoliniβs Ristorante ItalianoπAsk about our holiday specials! 20:36, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- I certainly agree that a single day is too short. Exceptions may be made if somebody is personally vetted (say, if I invite an IRL friend to edit the wiki- assuming I'm in good standing with the community: Nobs inviting an IRL friend to edit the wiki and granting them immediate sysophood would obviously be frowned upon)--Hastur! - No no it's okay don't worry!! I understand I've only been here for a couple of days. I almost had a heart attack when I noticed that.. AprilIsTrying 20:58, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Hastur old chap. As per this conversation... And as per this paragraph in the community standards page:

- "A sysop can only be "promoted" back down to regular editor status if they request it, or if they are causing trouble through serious vandalism, troll behaviour, or abuse of sysop abilities such as blocking. Complaints of this kind should be raised at the chicken coop page, and the decision to "promote" the sysop should only be reached after a full discussion."
- I mean, I don't really care either way, it doesn't affect my life. But it does seem a bit unfair that when Moosolini did it he was overruled by Dredd and Sirius. For what it's worth I agree with you that our editor here is pretty new. But, unilaterally promoting someone? I'm pretty sure Oxyaena is is in the right here, and that you aren't. (Although I must say I completely agree with you Hastur, and disagree with Oxyaena. No offence intended April. I'm not gonna demote you. However, if @Oxyaena so wishes, she can grant you sysop again). Also, @Sirius, since you are a babysitter now? I just came along because I'm bored and I have nothing to doooooooooooo... also Duce is a sound lad, and you were a big meanie to him! You stoopid stoopid mod. (I'm joking of course, you know I love ya! (no homo)) - Rairyu75 (Talk) 21:46, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry for cluttering up your talk page, April. Hastur did the same to me, for the reason I didn't have enough edits, despite being here since November '19 (although I did fall to inactivity for quite a while). Prob'ly should have challenged that, on hindsight. ElectrosPardon? 22:08, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

I also hate when people just revert stuff without discussing with the author of the contribution, but unfortunately that's how wikis often work. You've made many good edits and created good articles, and I'm sure you can do many more if you stick aroud for longer. There are a few other things than I'd like to say, but the talk page is just not the place. GeeJayK (talk) 04:39, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

Communist terminology[edit]
I see from you homepage that you're versed in communist terminology. If you're able to contribute to either Draft:Tankie Glossary or Draft:Communist glossary, that would be great. Bongolian (talk) 20:54, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, certainly, I can contribute to those pages! I do take somewhat of an issue separating "tankie" from communist because "tankie" refers to the vast majority of us, but I digress. The label is a modern version of "sjw", I reckon. But if you want two pages on these subjects, some concepts need to be moved to other pages; for instance, on the "tankie" glossary page, the section on the dictatorship of the proletariat obviously describes the transitionary stage between capitalism and communism, led by a proletarian vanguard party, and it is thus usually regarded as a "tankie precept" because the libertarian communists, left communists, and anarcho-communists take issue with the continued existence of the state β so it may stay on that page. Whereas the other concepts on the "tankie" glossary page (proletariat, imperialism, dialectics, etc) are simply general communist ideas anyone, regardless of their communist affiliation, understands and accepts. So I suggest moving those over to the communist glossary page.--April Chat? 15:43, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- It is a weekend, hence, I finished my college assignments already; I am open to revising those pages, if you would like it.--April Chat? 15:44, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- Moreover, "tankie" covers such a wide swath of comrades... I see on the "tankie" glossary page a section on identity politics and a claim we outright reject identity politics. Sure, some do. I do not. Class is the major division of society, but identity politics go on top of class, as secondary factors. You are probably more likely to find a comrade who erroneously rejects identity politics if they hold privileges regarding secondary/intersectional characteristics (i.g., heterosexual, cisgender, white, male, perisex, allosexual, abled, etc). Some of us call this rejection of identity politics class reductionism.--April Chat? 17:55, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- Wait, you know that, lmao.. class reductionism is literally on the page...pardon me.--April Chat? 17:56, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- As far as whether they should be one page or two, I don't really have an opinion. Maybe two of the other contributors of the two pages would like to weigh in on this, @Tuxer and @Plutocow? Bongolian (talk) 06:43, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- You've been doing some good work on the pages. You're right about a lot of the tankie terms needing to be merged. Perhaps they should be a single page with a Tankie-specific subsection? Bongolian (talk) 20:37, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- It is hard to do that because most communists are "tankies" regardless. Marxism-leninism is the dominant strain, so to describe it all as "tankie"....well, nearly the entire page would be under the sub-section "tankie". Concepts made by Marx himself would survive, but that would be about all, perhaps. It is a little difficult. I recommend getting around this by presenting all these terms in a neutral, third-person fashion. "Communists believe..." "Purportedly," etc., etc. Whatever you want, no pressure. This is very enjoyable for me--April Chat? 06:08, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

- I think you've done a very good job in getting the communist glossary into shape. It's ready for mainspace, I think. Maybe we should merge the tankie glossary into it, as you suggested. Bongolian (talk) 04:44, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- Absolutely, it is probably ready for mainspace. Merging a lot of the sections of the "tankie" glossary into that glossary is also a good idea. My apologies for disappearing, I am taking summer courses at my college, so I spend a lot of time on them.--April Chat? 00:06, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

- Hey, no problem-! There is definitely more to add, so I will stop by every so often and contribute to that page. Especially if I learn something new. I read communist books quite often. I finished Two Tactics of SocialDemocracy and Letters from Afar (both by Lenin) in the past 24 hours, for example.--April Chat? 02:48, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

self-criticism[edit]
putting this here because probably barely anyone cares enough to read this and that's fine
1. no investigation, no right to speak. this is a general principle that i try to follow but clearly miss many a time. during my earlier days, i did not even know of it. for example, sometime last year, there was a discussion about a tornado ravaging an amazon factory, resulting in the deaths of many of the workers therein. i responded by saying there should be a public storm shelter mandate for each building but someone quickly pointed out that this requires an almost ludicrous amount of mining and is therefore quite literally impossible. not sure what i was thinking honestly.. that was just infantile on my part. i should have just said there should be public storm shelters for specific buildings only if they have a substantial workforce (i.g., a large factory). i concede
2. i originally came to this website as an anarchist but transitioned into marxism-leninism over time. honestly, disregard anything i said prior to this year. i am naive and well aware of it
3. perhaps i should have not LANCBed and returned around may or june because all i did was seem very unserious. i wanted to prevent myself from coming here during my first full-time semester at college. i recall deciding to delete the LANCB notice in my bio literally one day or two after putting it up on my bio (to be frank, i added it to my bio without a second thought) but noticed all the people wishing me farewell and felt bad enough to just keep it up for a while. i will not put the LANCB notice in my bio ever again honestly
4. with regard to a debate i had with several people about the ethics of hunting, saying outright "humans should neither consume nor eat animals" would have been the best way to go about my argument. this is the position i take nowadays and perhaps there would have been less tension had i gone with it prior to the debate because apparently, i seemed derogatory towards rural people. again, i still really do not understand why this is because i had in mind hunting itself initially, not hunting in rural areas specifically; i had in mind the unsanitariness of meat generally. i will admit i have never been to any rural areas for a long period of time, you got me there, sure. that is correct. i have no experience with rural life. there is a highway near my house and there is constant roadway traffic. planes always pass overhead. cook county is entirely urban or suburban. im just at the border between suburban and urban. i should have been more explicit about this during my argumentation and i kind of asked for it when i refused to take these accusations seriously. i concede insofar as my critique had not reached the principle of "humans should neither consume nor eat animals" just yet. nevertheless, the antagonistic contradiction inherent to capitalism between urban and rural must become non-antagonistic under socialism
5. the five present-day socialist countries are Cuba, China, DPRK, Laos, and Vietnam. any disagreement of this is not but denialism
6. further regarding #4, i ought to clarify i support the usage of guns during revolutions...for example, during the October and August revolutions. in summary, i support gun control, automatic weapon bans, etc, but only under socialism. basically, gun control but as it is in Vietnam
hope everyone fares well lately--April Chat? 00:49, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- A country with billionaires (and that also practices neocolonialism in the global south) is totally socialist. Come on. I think it's disingenuous to dismiss valid criticism as "denialism." Vee (talk) 01:07, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- I had in mind my own remarks about China in which I oversimplified the history of the People's Republic of China to "state capitalism."--April Chat?
- I really do not know enough about the history of Chinese socialism to really say anything. Sorry. Call me ignorant but I do not want to talk about the history of the People's Republic of China with only a rudimentary understanding of it. All I can say is there are not really, from what I've seen, many examples of "Chinese neocolonialism." There were some reports China was to seize Uganda's only airport but I do not recall anything ever coming of that.--April Chat? 02:19, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- For number 1, I think you're being hard on yourself here. I don't know the exact conversation though but assuming you were simply lamenting that there wasn't a storm shelter built, if I were that person who responded, I would assume that you were well-intentioned but naive and would explain the actual situation. This happened to me too but it's no hard feelings. That being said, it is good practice to assume that if a solution seems overly obvious, simplistic and almost child-like in its simplicity, it's probably wrong, and people more well-versed in problems, like engineers, city planners, etc. (in your situation) have definitely considered it. It was the same issue one time where I saw a user castigate firefighters for just watching a fire on a utility pole and not putting it out urgently; I assumed they had a reason for this and then someone then explained very well that those are special fires that water will only exacerbate.
- For number 4 I agree that humanity should eventually wean off eating animals in some far future especially most barnyard ones (red meat and poultry in general disturb me these days, as well as lobster and crab even though I enjoy the food; though me saying, 'well they taste good', is also disturbing) but they involve drastic lifestyle changes so I just encourage cutting down meat and not being an ass to people who eat meat. However for killing animals all together, that's a harder sell because pest control and whatnot. --It's-a me, LeftyGreenMario! 06:15, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Listicles are generally bad, yeah? Vee (talk) 04:23, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, they are. I really just wanted to put one up there so I could demonstrate at least a bare minimum understanding of a transitionary and primary programme, aka immediate and ultimate demands of the communist movement.--April Chat? 15:50, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
Livingwhole.org[edit]
The domain Livingwhole.org is no longer owned by anti-vaxer Megan Renshaw and is now not an anti-vax organization. In fact, we've updated a page about Vitamin K to explain why newborns should get the Vitamin K shot with a link to CDC, which she originally said was harmful. Strongwind (talk) 14:04, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
I'm not sure if she had an organization, really. Anyone can have a .org. But I believe she is still active in promoting anti-vax information using substack. Here is one of her latest articles. — Unsigned, by: Strongwind / talk / contribs
