RationalWiki's 2018 Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff — we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

If everyone seeing this today donates $5, we will meet our goal for 2018.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Can you feel it?

Uranium-235 is the most awesome of natural nuclides. It is the only naturally occurring fissile material. Although it makes up only 0.7% of natural uranium, it can be used to unlock the vast amounts of energy available from uranium-238 and thorium via a technology called breeder reactors. The half life of uranium-235 is 700 million years. It is slightly[citation needed] more radioactive than uranium-238.

Fission of uranium-235 is the source of around 10% [1] of the world's production of electricity, and around 6%[citation needed] of total energy production.

It is also one of two materials that can be practically used for nuclear bombs.
