A comment regarding your friend.[edit]
In response to your question here, my short acquaintance with the fellow suggests he is the sort of person who craves attention the way some people crave heroin or meth. If he can't get positive attention he will do something strange and provocative to get negative attention. All that matters is that he gets attention. The quandary is that some of the things he does can't simply be ignored, but by responding to him in any way at all (whether to agree or smack him down) you're playing his game. John Nash[edit]
Saw a movie last nite starring New Zealander Russel Crowe about Nobel Laureate wp:John Nash. Researching Nash made me think about you:
“”I later spent times of the order of five to eight months in hospitals in New Jersey, always on an involuntary basis... In these interludes of, as it were, enforced rationality, I did succeed in doing some respectable mathematical research....But after my return to the dream-like delusional hypotheses in the later 60's I became a person of delusionally influenced thinking but of relatively moderate behavior and thus tended to avoid hospitalization and the direct attention of psychiatrists.

Perhaps RW could use an entry on Nash. According to WP, his theories are used in market economics, computing, evolutionary biology, artificial intelligence, accounting, politics, military and game theory. nobsCorporations are people, too 17:23, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

- It is an adequate summary of the situation I agree. Hell, once in Florida I got told off for not tipping properly. The waitress actually came back to the table and told me it "wasn't good enough". Acei9 19:52, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- I, myself, have never liked the idea of waitstaff making most of their wages based on tips. In my state, at least, they make a base salary of, at least, just above minimum wage (I think we are the only state in the US left, IIRC) and get any tips you've earned added on to that (whether those be tips of money of tips to fuck off, nobody cares), but I'm always amazed that most other states tie whether or not you can afford food to how generous the customers are feeling that night (i.e: pay well below minimum wage), which causes waitstaff to go insane about making tips at any cost and forces policies like "minimum tip required." Got this one from my comedy forum[edit]
A NZ'er moves to Australia and is embarrassed by his nationality. He is particularly aware of his unmistakable accent. One day he walks into a shop and asks for "five dollars worth of FUSH and CHUPS".
The shopkeeper immediately replies "You're from New Zealand aren't you?" Embarrassed, the man runs out.
Determined to rid himself of his accent, he practices: "FISH and CHIPS, not FUSH and CHUPS," over and over again.
For months, he passes by the shop, but never goes in. Finally, he feels ready to show off his perfect Aussie accent. He confidently strolls up to the counter, clears his throat and in a perfect Australian accent says "Five dollars worth of FISH and CHIPS Please."
Immediately the shopkeeper replies "You must be from New Zealand."
"OH NO" the man cries. "This accent always betrays my nationality. I just cannot hide it."
"It's got nothing to do with accents, mate," replies the shopkeeper. "This is a hardware store".

I'm not sure why you felt so strongly the page had to go. Would you mind commenting on how I could have made the page more appropriate content for RW?
Thanks!

- It's similar to the kind of things Walt Brown makes up. But think about it - homeostasis on earth is a delicate balance. Who knows what the practical effect of changing the speed of light would be. I guess you can figure it out. The weird stuff here is the suggestion that plants would thrive with more light. The subtext in appealing to miracles is ... they'd cook to cinders like any other living thing would. The "theory" doesn't serve creationists at all without miracles. We already know the answers otherwise. 19:29, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

- It's really just c-decay all over again, which even creationists deny. talk 15:53, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
No, really. C-decay at ASK was one of the first discussions I (along with Sid and Horace) had with PJR. Sid referenced Aardsma's ICR reference on it. talk 18:48, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- And it is amusing to think about. What color would chlorophyll be? Would plants even absorb the light any more? talk 18:51, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Unacceptable[edit]
Don't let it happen again! talk 01:44, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- Am I missing the joke, or are three of the four editors who are even there actually RationalWiki users? --TheLateGatsby (The end of the dock ) 02:06, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- The goal is to have lim[t→August] numusers(ASK) = 1 ≡ PJR. And yes, they are one and the same. cf, [2] and all talk pages at ASK, for that matter. But don't edit! talk 02:21, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- Gatsby, I know you don't want to get stabbed in the neck. But that's what's going to happen if you go over there and give Phillip someone to disagree with. Do you want to get stabbed in the neck? 03:14, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'm just amazed at how pathetic it is that only Rayment's "enemies" are there, now. I have no desire to edit at that wiki, not even to fight with the guy. --TheLateGatsby (The end of the dock ) 03:18, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- it was a quick hit and run that seemed to get PJR blood moving. Hamster (talk) 07:13, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- ASK was always dominated by, um, us. He had at least one ally and a couple of bigot fundie friends. talk 12:16, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

- Regardless of the merits, it was premature. You can edit war with one of our vilest and most tendentious editors if you want. He'll slither out of the woodwork to defend his decision to enforce a non-existent consensus. 19:31, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
- I lack the technical knowhow to revert it, but I definitely think that vote was ended prematurely. Many of the people active on the site who voted against deletion last time did not vote this time. If there is a consensus to delete then fair enough, but there wasn't evidence of one yet and pushing it through before there is one only creates resentment. DamoHi 22:50, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

How can we get rid of Maratreanism????? It's very seldom that such comedy walks itself onto RationalWiki (or anywhere else on the internet, to be honest). I would argue, it was the greatest comedy spoon-fed to us since CUR's felidae nonsense! Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 10:50, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
Fatherhood[edit]
Congrats. You're a lucky bastard all round. Mrs. K could never have kids but we never fretted over the fact. ГенгисRationalWiki GOLD member 13:03, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
- Congrats fatty! You'll make a rotten dad to that little hellion, but Mrs. McWicked is even more stuck with you than before. When did your third world healthcare system say it was ok to start tranquilizing your kidlet so you can go drinking again? But serious, congratulations. I'm really happy for you. I suppose I should just go look at Facebook. 14:31, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
