Userboxen[edit]

Rather than make separate pages for the userboxes you made that are only displayed on your user page, you should just put the code on your user page on its own. Evil harmonic Hoover! 16:48, 10 February 2009 (EST)

Someone else might want to use it. Why not just make a page? --"CURtalk 16:50, 10 February 2009 (EST)
Since no-one else has used them, it is rather pointless. Moreover, many of them are rather specific to you. Evil harmonic Hoover! 16:53, 10 February 2009 (EST)
Actually, only Rodney and the cheetah haven't been used by someone else. --"CURtalk 16:55, 10 February 2009 (EST)
Isn't that the point of userboxes, that they tend to be rather personal? But since we tend to share many traits with others, someone else might find our creations handy. When I made the "handy" userbox, the same argument could have been made, but someone else (here or at CP?) has used it. As long as CUR is putting them in the right place ("template:user XXX") and adding them to the userbox lists, I see no harm at all. ħumanUser talk:Human 17:02, 10 February 2009 (EST)
Very well, but I've replaced user cheetah with the more general user animal. Evil harmonic Hoover! 17:05, 10 February 2009 (EST)

I just like cheetahs. (on a sidenote, I'm a cheetah therian. Don't ask. Please.) But I see no reason not to upload lots of cheetah pictures and put them there. --"CURtalk 18:46, 10 February 2009 (EST)
I'm sure entropy will kick in at some point. You clearly don't realise how transparent you are. You could be more entertaining than Conservapedia. I'm delighted. Mei 18:55, 10 February 2009 (EST)
I have no idea what on earth you mean. But yes, I am, to RWW at least, more entertaining than Conservapedia. Partially because I mean well, but screw up too much. --"CURtalk 19:07, 10 February 2009 (EST)

Zoology project[edit]

My suggestion is to expand its range into a biology project, then it can cover plants, biochemistry, ecology and evolution. This is assuming that RationalWiki is big enough to need wikiprojects. Even Conservapedia has only one, and they're bigger than us. Totnesmartin 04:48, 12 February 2009 (EST)

Is Conservapedia really bigger than us? They only have about 2 dozen genuine editors we have at least 50 that show up a couple of times a week. - User \pi 04:51, 12 February 2009 (EST)
I'm assuming it is by alexa, number of articles etc rather than number of current editors. If we ever outranked CP, who we were set up to, erm, "critique" I would laugh my socks off. Totnesmartin 05:07, 12 February 2009 (EST)
Alexa is unreliable, as we have a larger proportion of people who don't use IE, which Alexa relies on. Evil harmonic Hoover! 11:07, 12 February 2009 (EST)
I didn't know that! So sites like ours suffer because they're used by people who aren't satisfied with what they're given and look for something better? :) Totnesmartin 11:12, 12 February 2009 (EST)

Essay:Felidae[edit]

Hi CUR,

I have added a link from RationalWiki:Article of the Weak to your essay because the article made a big deal about the low genetic variability in cheetahs. Have a read of what the idiot wrote it might give you material that could help right a mainspace article on cheetahs. - User \pi 05:15, 13 February 2009 (EST)

Warning[edit]

If you abuse your sysop powers again in violation of your parole you will lose them. - User \pi 20:15, 17 February 2009 (EST)

As I said before, this, if anyone, is a sock of DSARFARG, or whoever, who appears to enjoy harrassing me. I do not see how blocking someone who is harassing me is a parole violation, especially since part of that agreement was, and I quote, 'No poking at CUR.' This is poking. RWWUR should not have been made sysop. --"CURtalk 20:17, 17 February 2009 (EST)
DSARFARG seem to be fighting so unless he has some strange sock behaviour I doubt it. You were made sysop despite your obvious short comings, you need to learn to play nice. Does this sort of thing happen to anyone else? - User \pi 20:20, 17 February 2009 (EST)

(EC on my own page, aargh)I saw no examples of him fighting RWWUR. And I didn't exclusively do things that were certain to harass editors, did I? And I didn't violate anybodies parol violations before sysopship, did I? I think I need to reinterate CPAdmin1's rule that this kind of poking to goad me into reacting was not allowed. --"CURtalk 20:24, 17 February 2009 (EST)

So what? Lots of people have had stupid ideas. Doesn't make them right. TheoryOfPractice 20:11, 18 February 2009 (EST)

Remember the little modicum of respect for having it for a few thousand years? And excuse me if I am wrong, but isn't the idea that someone's behaviors can closely mimic an animal's a lot more realistic than believing in an all-powerful supernatural deity? --"CURtalk 20:13, 18 February 2009 (EST)
Hell no. The first cause argument is the strongest one they have got, your best argument is if I get a brain scan done I might have a cheetah brain. - User \pi 20:15, 18 February 2009 (EST)
No, my argument is that if I get a brain scan done certain neural pathways will be more similar to that of a cheetah that most humans. Please don't make straw men. --"CURtalk 20:16, 18 February 2009 (EST)
That is hardly an improvement on my statement. How can you have similar neural pathways when your brains are fundamentally different structures? - User \pi 20:18, 18 February 2009 (EST)
If that was so, humans would have to be created seperately, if the brains of a human and cheetah could not be similar in any way, shape, or form. Since they were not created seperately, is it really so crazy to postulate that particular neuron pathways are more animal like than most humans? See, if we share no brain structures with animals, the whole host of instincts that we have wouldn't exist. The brains aren't really that different, aside from larger areas. Within our subconscious still lurks the mind of an animal. --"CURtalk 20:21, 18 February 2009 (EST)

I am glad to see that at least one person on this website shows signs of recognition of our superior purpose. We are Gods greatest creation, and animals and plants are tools that God has made for us to use, and are not loved by him because they cannot truely make choices. ConservapediaUndergroundResistor, do you really want to present yourself before the Lord, the TRUE God, and say that you are an animal, therefore, unworthy of His love?— Unsigned, by: Shatoyaah C / talk / contribs

Beating this person is too easy. Animals are not our tools. They are our equals (perhaps not as smart as we are, but more intellegent in other fields). My cat is more independent then you, bible thumper, because it is not restricted by a limiting religion. It can make more choices than you can. Plants. . . plants are not our tools either. Not our equals, but not our tools. And call me CUR. As for presenting myself, I do not believe in god. When ya dead, ya dead. So I don't give a hELL. --"CURtalk 20:41, 18 February 2009 (EST)

Took the words right out of my mouth, which was filled with delicious cow bits.DSFARGEG 20:43, 18 February 2009 (EST)

Genesis 1:29 - 1:30 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. This makes it clear, animals and plants exist for our usage, hence, they are insignificant. Think of it what you want to, animals were made by God to be used by us, same as plants. Go outside and pluck a blade of grass, does it resist? No, because it can't. Go to a cow and kill it, and although it may resist, in the end, it becomes the food it is intended to become. This is the beauty of what God has made for us to see. — Unsigned, by: Shatoyaah C / talk / contribs

HUMANS ARE ANIMALS. I don't give a dahm what Genesis says. The bible could say, 'Die, CUR, Die' and I would give a bleeps sake, because I would just throw the stupid thing into a trash bin, where anything that can turn a rational person into a mindless fundie belongs. And yes, the blade of grass does resist. It's called 'tension' which is why you exert energy picking it. But that's getting into technicalities. Cows were not 'intended' to become food. They have, but they were not 'intended' because there was no designer. What is the beauty of life if we are to destroy it? --"CURtalk 16:19, 19 February 2009 (EST)

Being a bit irrational now and then - fine. Being a bit more irrational than normal and then creating a profoundly irrational explanation - not fine. Evil harmonic Hoover! 16:38, 19 February 2009 (EST)
I am attempting to find a rational explanation- something I cannot do for a completely unstudied phenomanae. If you actually bothered studying it and found that there was no cause, I might be willing to listen. As it is, you are dismissing something that is unstudied, which is irrational. The rational thing would be to put it on the back burner and ignore it until new information comes out. --"CURtalk 16:40, 19 February 2009 (EST)
But you have repeatedly stated that the explanation you favour is one that is very unlikely and pretty incompatible with modern evolutionary biology. Evil harmonic Hoover! 16:45, 19 February 2009 (EST)
The only reason I trotted out the gene theory was desperation. I don't believe it, and neither does anyone else I know of. The idea that our brains could be hardwired somewhat like an animal (but not because of the genes of the animal) isn't quite as improbable, and not as incompatible with evolution. --"CURtalk 16:47, 19 February 2009 (EST)
Yes, as it is fairly probable that your brain is randomly similar to that of a cheetah, with no genetic causes. Evil harmonic Hoover! 16:49, 19 February 2009 (EST)
No, very, very improbably, which is why it is so incredibly rare. Very few people have it. And there is a genetic cause- just not caused by 'cheetah genes'. Caused instead by abnormal human genes. --"CURtalk 16:51, 19 February 2009 (EST)

(deindent) CUR, you share about 36% of your DNA with a BANANA, Banana.gif yet I fail to see you insisting that you somehow share physical similarities to that aforementioned Banana. Furthermore, your genes are also 82% platypus, and I don't see you claiming to share a "brain" with that particular animal. "that it is theoretically possible to have the genes activate in a way that creates feline-like tendencies" By which theory? The theory of "stupid stuff that CUR pulls out of his ass at random?" CUR, stop saying moronic stuff like this with zero scientific evidence. You look like an idiot. all the more so when you crap out completely loony irrational ideas like this with zero basis in science or reality, and then try to take the high road against religious folk because their beliefs are irrational. An old girlfriend of mine had trained her cat (or vice versa) to play "fetch" as dogs do. Get it published in a scientific journal and then we might take you seriously. Wolves...[edit]

Are far behind us on the evolutionary ladder. They are our inferiors in almost every way, apart from simple pack-mentality actions. I'm not denying that they are awesome animals, but they are simply not wiser , nor are they smarter then us, and it's pretty insulting to the human race to assert otherwie as fact.DSFARGEG 17:19, 9 March 2009 (EDT)

There is no ladder to evolution. The wolf is adapted to its enviornment. You seem to misunderstand the basic concept of evolution. And couldn't all human social interaction be written off in such a way? This is all I am saying, I refuse to get involved in another debate. --<choose>

No, I don't misunderstand th concept of evolution. What I am stating is that wolves have been left behind in comparison to the sheer gap in intelligence and ability to create. We have incredibly complex languages, a wolf has only a basic form of communication at best. Wolves howl at the moon (for territory reasons or something. I forget.) The human race has built ships that can TAKE US TO THE FUCKING MOON. DSFARGEG 17:26, 9 March 2009 (EDT)

It was linked from the fishing cat article at WP. I think the term "jungle cat" is just being used loosely, as the jungle cat species looks completely different. I think this Russian blog is the original & the other one is a copy of it. The Russian version translates on Babelfish as "fish cat" or "fishing tomcat". I saw it a few times, and I personally thought it was too much. It existed for the sole purpose of harassing CUR, so far as I can tell, and I think it's massively childish to leave it in. This is supposed to be a rational site, not a bloody 3rd grade playground. --Kels 16:52, 16 March 2009 (EDT)

Socks Claims[edit]

Can you provide a link for where someone suggested you were TK and Conservative? That would be amusing, if it were true. DogP 02:48, 31 March 2009 (EDT)

That is indeed amusing, but methinks you missed the point. Ace was not really saying you were TK, he was saying you act in a similar way to TK, by disrupting things around here. Same goes for the Conservative accusation, it was comparison, not mistaking you for a sock. And, not that I want to pile on or anything, but you yourself were the one claiming to be Karajou, so no-one else thought that at all. As for GFasten, you're uh, not being accused of being him either. You really ought to try not to have such a wonderful impression of yourself -humility is a nice attribute in a person. DogP 14:41, 31 March 2009 (EDT)

Actually, DogP, I did consider that CUR might be TK due to his incredible disruption over small matters. Then I thought he cant be TK as TK isnt that childish hence leaning towards Ken.
