User talk:BrowserWarVet
Greetings, BrowserWarVet, and thank you for joining the wiki all about virus-infected nuclear reactors! I hope you enjoy your time here. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 20:34, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, my default web time killer has been the RW random article link for quite a while now, so I am sure I'll be fine.
- Though one RW quirk that I don't really get is how some people name themselves.... are you Stabby, Radioactive or Misanthrope, or a combo? On this site some people seem to have signatures saying one thing whilst their username differs. I guess the general convention is to call people by what they are labeling themselves at the time? - My experience so far, for what it's worth, is that nobody seems to care whether you call them what they're currently labeling themselves or what they've labeled themselves previously (with perhaps a few rare exceptions). In general, there's no hard and fast rule or convention on the subject though. - Grant (Talk) 18:59, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
- Sounds like so much of the internets and its communities. Like an IRC channel where a regular might stick to one nick for years, changes it one day, but the old-guard sometimes still harmlessly address the person by their original nick. I dunno why I thought there was any "quirk" at all! BrowserWarVet (talk) 19:12, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
- That definitely seems to be how it works, yes. I never really thought of it that way, as the only real online community I've been a part of previously was that of an online game, and because I was one of the first people there, I always had a clear idea of what to call people. When I first came to RW I faced a bit of a dilemma, as very few people were referred to by their current nickname, which confused the hell out of me. - Grant (Talk) 19:17, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
