What did you do for New Years? :-) Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 08:26, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Went out to see a film, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which I was expecting to be complete trash compared to a previous version starring Alec Guinness (I was not disappointed in that respect); then stayed in and threw a paper streamer across the room at midnight. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 04:11, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
That sounds, er, lovely. Sorry to hear about the movie being bad, though. Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 04:39, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Etymology vs Common Usage[edit]

Just a little consideration for the term "pussy-footing". Yes, it is originally a term derived in reference to cats, but the term "pussy" as become more and more prevalent as a sexual slang word. It also has been applied as meaning acting "effeminately", and the common usage of the term has synced up rather naturally with these sexually-biased usages. Consider it like several prominent racial slurs, or even the word "negro". While having perfectly valid etymology, it is rightfully avoided today because of the history of the word in racism. --ShadowofLords (talk) 07:21, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Dude, pussy-foot obviously refers to a cat's mien of carefully and cautiously moving about. Any other connotations make no sense other than as references to a foot fetish.--User:Brxbrx/sig 07:59, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
Well, I see many people today using it in reference to acting like a "pussy" (not the cat) on a subject. Even if it etymologically doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean that isn't how people use it as slang in the modern world. I've heard many people use the phrase in combination with "quit acting like a girl" or "don't be a wuss", and the general connotation seems to be "stop side-stepping like a pussy". --ShadowofLords (talk) 17:33, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Ouch - deleted![edit]

OK so my whimsical Rapture joke wasn't appreciated. FWIW Aryan = Blondie, the nonsensical lyrics are from the song Rapture. I was about to add something to the talk page, but you'd deleted before I had a chance. Oh well. Voxhumana (talk) 06:42, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

We have a "Fun" namespace for that sort of thing. Mainspace articles can be snarky and sarcastic, but we are not Uncyclopedia. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 06:52, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Juche as a religion[edit]

Hey brother, out of curiosity, can you direct me to some sources that state juche is the state religion of North Korea? I'm aware of some authors who have compared it to a religious movement, but most of the readings on the topic I've come up with describe it as state ideology, not religious.--MarxWasRight (talk) 04:25, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

It is a complete world-view, with attached rituals — a latter-day imperial cult. It is very interesting how people do not see some religions for what they are just because they lack a wholly supernatural deity. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 04:45, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
While I'm not well versed in juche, I am not aware of any scholars on the region that consider it a state religion, or describe it in religious terms. This is why I asked for a source to verify these claims. While I appreciate your definition of religious practice, I have trouble accepting your view when the academic consensus, as far as I know, defines juche as a state ideology, not a religion.--MarxWasRight (talk) 07:54, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Vector images[edit]

So that was the first time I've ever used inkscape :P Though, I must say I like your version better.CopperheadHisssssss 13:14, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

You used Inkscape? That was not readily apparent from the appearance of the graphic. I thought you had thrown it through a raster editor. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 06:36, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
I played with it in GIMP first, yes. CopperheadHisssssss 13:44, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Unfuck my watchlist page[edit]

If it was you who did it. Rand0 (talk) 14:45, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

It probably was not you. My bad. Rand0 (talk) 14:56, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

I made a mistake[edit]

I know you think I'm guilty, but despite that I made a mistake. Could you please delete the image exhibitb? The name there is not mine, but my brother's. There is no need to compromise his identity because of my careless mistake. Perhaps I'll upload a new version of that image without his name. I would appreciate it. And in case you're doubting me, the software is actually too expensive for me, who is unemployed [1].--"Shut up, Brx." 14:58, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Done. P-Foster Talk "Armed with the knowledge of our past we can charter a course for our future"--MX 15:04, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
I was not online for most of the events preceding the vandal attack, so I personally have no opinion on the question of your guilt. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 17:32, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Nor do I. I don't need a massive vandal attack to think that he's no good to the project or its community. P-Foster Talk "Armed with the knowledge of our past we can charter a course for our future"--MX 19:29, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
I am slightly less trigger-happy in that regard. It takes all sorts to make a world, and Brxbrx is no MarcusCicero. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 19:42, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

I sent you an email--"Shut up, Brx." 04:15, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

I have no doubt this email will have something to do with Nutty Roux. AceModerator 04:22, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Are you following me now? (if you respond, then yes, you're a lifeless stalker. so don't, and leave me alone)--"Shut up, Brx." 04:23, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
public wiki = recent changes = able to see edits you make =/= stalking--il'Dictator Mikal 04:24, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
But following me around wherever I go does. I leave a message on ListenerX's talk page notifying him that I sent him an email (to ensure that he receives it- perhaps he didn't, perhaps he no longer uses the address associated with his account), and the hounds come down.--"Shut up, Brx." 04:26, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
ListenerX is having some sort of debate with Nutty, Brx sees this, emails LX to try and foment some more allies. AceModerator 04:28, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Brxbrx appears to believe that I am potential ally material because I am so soft on trolls as to protest against breaches of the blocking policy. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 04:45, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
What? Could you send that email back to me? I'm confused. I don't remembering saying that.--"Shut up, Brx." 04:51, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Well, I have no beef with you LX or your protests. Who is the troll though? Brx or Nutty? AceModerator 04:52, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
I think he's saying I'm a troll for blocking Brxbrx 2.5 times. If so, uh, yeah. CoopMe 04:55, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
(EC) Brxbrx, I was making a very loose paraphrase.
Ace, I do not think Nutty Roux is a troll by any stretch of the imagination, but the term "troll" is so subjective that, to be safe, we should leave the question of who is or is not a troll to the mob or the moderators.
Nutty Roux, I was referring to issuing long blocks without due process on the grounds that the person being blocked is a troll. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 04:59, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Indeed. I get called a troll on various political forums I visit because I question some of the more outlandish claims and out-right lies that get repeated. It seems asking for things like "evidence" or expressing doubt over someones claim (particularly if the are on the far-left) you are a "troll". AceModerator 05:01, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I sent you another email, because you apparently didn't understand the last one.--"Shut up, Brx." 05:03, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
not understand in that he didnt reply or not understand understand?il'Dictator Mikal 05:21, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
In that his summary of my email left me bewildered. I don't know what he read, but I don't remember writing it. And a response would be nice.--"Shut up, Brx." 05:23, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

"I told you so"[edit]

I'm currently blocked over at RWW, but I noticed this edit you made, and I feel compelled to reply. Do you really think that vague reactionary warnings from way back when can account for any sort of present day triumph of rhetoric?--"Shut up, Brx." 00:26, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

"rated" talkpage template[edit]

It's one of the worst things I've seen implemented here. It's one user's opinion, and the resultant categories are poorly put together. I'd remove all the uses of it, but I'm not OCD/aspie enough. ħumanUser talk:Human 04:17, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

And by "worst" I mean "completely useless and creates useless categories". ħumanUser talk:Human 04:18, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
If you are unwilling to carry through the removal yourself, I suggest putting the question up for a vote. If the proposal is carried, then the "Aspies" will do all the work for you. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 04:22, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the section Religion and genocide, it improves the article. I know it would have been better to do more than just add the external link but I was very busy yesterday. I researched and added two new sections to Argument from authority. Also I worked hard correcting and improving what an intelligent junior high school kid wrote on another wiki. If that kid stays a freethinker in a few years he could move up to Ratwiki. Proxima Centauri (talk) 09:44, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

"... attack on the site by some jackass ..." Whoever might that edit refer to, I wonder? Blue (is useful) 02:53, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Are you that thin skinned? AceModerator 02:54, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
(EC) I assumed he was talking about Nx. I reverted the edits because I would prefer that he kept his petty disputes with Nx confined to talk-space, rather than editorializing about them in project space. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 02:55, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Not you Blue, you silly person. Unless you think... I don't even. LX, I just didn't want the history whitewashed. Could it be better written? Obviously. But the previous version was simply dishonest. ħumanUser talk:Human 02:57, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
What part precisely was dishonest? And why, to be "honest," must we editorialize and make personal attacks? Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 02:58, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Really? I did think it was me, seeing as you and Nutty and co. like to blame me for everything that went wrong here for the last year and bit. Who's the jackass, then? Blue (pester) 02:59, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
I see your point of view, Human, but that bit of the page is not really there to relate a narrative, but only to provide a bit of context. It doesn't seem as though any purpose is served by that bit of blaming.--ADtalkModerator 03:16, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to reach out to RationalWiki editors to let them know about WeCheck, the first wiki fact check [2]. I just launched a few days ago and have been working the site by myself, but I could do with some more help, both in writing/editing and adminiostration. Please have a look and let me know what you think. PS: You are the only person I will contact like this as I don't want to be accused of spamming.Sparkzilla (talk) 03:33, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Andrew Sullivan's Oakeshott dissertation[edit]

Although your extension to my edit while it's ink was still wet improves the rhythm even further, friend, your playful invocation of Winston's words ignored my pointed refutation of that very objection.

Had you simply reverted my edit with your same explanation, I'd have regarded that as proof of the wretchedness of writing nearly everywhere. (talk) 07:40, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
