Soooooo[edit]
What did you do for New Years? :-) Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 08:26, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- Went out to see a film, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which I was expecting to be complete trash compared to a previous version starring Alec Guinness (I was not disappointed in that respect); then stayed in and threw a paper streamer across the room at midnight. ListenerXTalkerX 04:11, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- That sounds, er, lovely. Sorry to hear about the movie being bad, though. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 04:39, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Etymology vs Common Usage[edit]
Just a little consideration for the term "pussy-footing". Yes, it is originally a term derived in reference to cats, but the term "pussy" as become more and more prevalent as a sexual slang word. It also has been applied as meaning acting "effeminately", and the common usage of the term has synced up rather naturally with these sexually-biased usages. Consider it like several prominent racial slurs, or even the word "negro". While having perfectly valid etymology, it is rightfully avoided today because of the history of the word in racism. --ShadowofLords (talk) 07:21, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

- Dude, pussy-foot obviously refers to a cat's mien of carefully and cautiously moving about. Any other connotations make no sense other than as references to a foot fetish.--User:Brxbrx/sig 07:59, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I see many people today using it in reference to acting like a "pussy" (not the cat) on a subject. Even if it etymologically doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean that isn't how people use it as slang in the modern world. I've heard many people use the phrase in combination with "quit acting like a girl" or "don't be a wuss", and the general connotation seems to be "stop side-stepping like a pussy". --ShadowofLords (talk) 17:33, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Ouch - deleted![edit]
OK so my whimsical Rapture joke wasn't appreciated. FWIW Aryan = Blondie, the nonsensical lyrics are from the song Rapture. I was about to add something to the talk page, but you'd deleted before I had a chance. Oh well. Voxhumana (talk) 06:42, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Juche as a religion[edit]
Hey brother, out of curiosity, can you direct me to some sources that state juche is the state religion of North Korea? I'm aware of some authors who have compared it to a religious movement, but most of the readings on the topic I've come up with describe it as state ideology, not religious.--MarxWasRight (talk) 04:25, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- It is a complete world-view, with attached rituals — a latter-day imperial cult. It is very interesting how people do not see some religions for what they are just because they lack a wholly supernatural deity. ListenerXTalkerX 04:45, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- While I'm not well versed in juche, I am not aware of any scholars on the region that consider it a state religion, or describe it in religious terms. This is why I asked for a source to verify these claims. While I appreciate your definition of religious practice, I have trouble accepting your view when the academic consensus, as far as I know, defines juche as a state ideology, not a religion.--MarxWasRight (talk) 07:54, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

I know you think I'm guilty, but despite that I made a mistake. Could you please delete the image exhibitb? The name there is not mine, but my brother's. There is no need to compromise his identity because of my careless mistake. Perhaps I'll upload a new version of that image without his name. I would appreciate it. - (EC) Brxbrx, I was making a very loose paraphrase.
- Ace, I do not think Nutty Roux is a troll by any stretch of the imagination, but the term "troll" is so subjective that, to be safe, we should leave the question of who is or is not a troll to the mob or the moderators.
- Nutty Roux, I was referring to issuing long blocks without due process on the grounds that the person being blocked is a troll. ListenerXTalkerX 04:59, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Indeed. I get called a troll on various political forums I visit because I question some of the more outlandish claims and out-right lies that get repeated. It seems asking for things like "evidence" or expressing doubt over someones claim (particularly if the are on the far-left) you are a "troll". AceModerator 05:01, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Genocide[edit]
Thanks for adding the section Religion and genocide, it improves the article. I know it would have been better to do more than just add the external link but I was very busy yesterday. I researched and added two new sections to Argument from authority. Also I worked hard correcting and improving what an intelligent junior high school kid wrote on another wiki. - Not you Blue, you silly person. Unless you think... I don't even. LX, I just didn't want the history whitewashed. Could it be better written? Obviously. But the previous version was simply dishonest. ħuman 02:57, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- What part precisely was dishonest? And why, to be "honest," must we editorialize and make personal attacks? ListenerXTalkerX 02:58, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- I see your point of view, Human, but that bit of the page is not really there to relate a narrative, but only to provide a bit of context. It doesn't seem as though any purpose is served by that bit of blaming.--talk 03:16, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to reach out to RationalWiki editors to let them know about WeCheck, the first wiki fact check [2]. Andrew Sullivan's Oakeshott dissertation[edit]
Although your extension to my edit while it's ink was still wet improves the rhythm even further, friend, your playful invocation of Winston's words ignored my pointed refutation of that very objection.
Had you simply reverted my edit with your same explanation, I'd have regarded that as proof of the wretchedness of writing nearly everywhere.
