Eric Clapton.[edit]
It's people like you what cause unrest. Whatever happened to all the fun in the world? PFoster 23:44, 15 October 2008 (EDT)

Difference between vandal and vcat[edit]
What is it? PFoster 00:38, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
- "Vcat" adds the user to the vandals category. Additionally, Template:Vandal is kind of, er, showy. My impression was that it was created to be a badge of pride, rather than a condemnation, which is what vcat is. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 01:06, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
- And then there's the "vandal" usergroup, which limits their edits... ħuman 01:14, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
Help for teh sysop[edit]
Fred Phelps is seeing a lot of wandalism, and I wanted to protect it because most edits have not been productive, only problem is when I saw the protection history someone says "we don't lock articles." What's the deal with this? MIP has actually signed in - 18:51, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
- Unfortunately, RationalWiki does not even have a policy regarding protection. We do have a vague community consensus that locking pages is to be avoided as much as possible. After all, this is a wiki, so any damage can be undone with the click of a button. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 23:49, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
- I realize that probably wasn't very helpful. I suggest you propose page protection on the talk page, and make an argument for locking it there. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 23:49, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
- Nah, I read you loud and clear. And I do realize that in the case I was questioning blocking the Fred Phelps page, it would have been easier to block all the defective wandals (along with the help of fellow sysops) and leave it unlocked. Thanks. MIP has actually signed in - 00:25, 20 October 2008 (EDT)
- Hehe, yeah, except we also try not to bother blocking people, either. There are so many of us and so few of them that vandalism rarely lasts more than a few minutes. ħuman 01:53, 20 October 2008 (EDT)
- But it's so fun! MIP has actually signed in - 17:49, 20 October 2008 (EDT)
- So block other sysops, lock your subpages, or - go get your rocks off an a wiki with a power structure... if that's what you really need? (Which I doubt). ħuman 04:35, 21 October 2008 (EDT)
- Of course not. In hindsight, it's more fun to block vandals repeatedly for short periods of time than one long block. MIP has actually signed in - 18:10, 21 October 2008 (EDT)

- I got the toilet scrubby. I traded it in for a minigun, because you can clean toilets (or at least reduce the number of toilets that are dirty) with a minigun, but you cannot shoot bullets at a firing rate of 6000 rounds per minute with a toilet scrubby.

Do you think there might be any ad hominem attacks in the edit comment I copied as the topic line? Mangina[edit]
Essay:Gender_and_Sysops. Wow. You really think that's an earth-shattering issue? Women deserve to be promoted, why, just because they're women. That's what's fucking up the world.
The truth is that as soon as any organisation gets a considerable amount of women in leadership positions, it becomes female-dominated. From then on, it becomes devoted to promoting the female cause. Personal relationships become more important than the ostensible purpose of the organisation, and women are favored over men in every way possible and not inconsistent with the previous.

Thank you very much for your welcome! On a related note, WHY ON EARTH DID YOU SYSOP ME SO SOON? I'd only been a member for, like, 30 seconds! I could have been Bugler, or TK, or Ed, or Andy! I could have been some troll from Metapedia (I just read about them in an RW article that popped up when I was hitting the "random page" button. That site is probably one of the creepiest things I've ever seen in my life. Conservapedia looks positively cute after that) AND YOU'D NEVER KNOW!
