- Excellent thank you. All exciting here due to the rugby world cup. I am not a rugby fan to be honest but there is a real carnival atmosphere downtown. I enjoy it because when I do something really atavistic it tends to go unnoticed among such large swaths of weird foreigners. Aceace 02:16, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

Good luck. 22:44, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
How am I anything like MarcusCicero?[edit]
I mean, really. I don't see it. Introspection has never been a gift of mine but I'm at a loss as to how you've made the connection.--User:Brxbrx/sig 23:04, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
- I compared you to MC because, like him, you're massively disruptive, and your very presence in a discussion has a 50% of derailing it. I called you a lobotomized version of him because MC could hold his own as an intellectual when he felt like it. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 18:52, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- Saying this isn't going to make me look much better in your eyes but the reason conversations get derailed when I join them is no because I derail them but rather because someone else jumps me. Of course, saying "it's everybody else, not me!" is rarely convincing. Maybe I'll pull out some examples some other time.--User:Brxbrx/sig 19:59, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- Now you've blocked me at RWW? I do not understand your antipathy towards me. I wish to see RationalWiki adopt some rules so that people do no get to take dumps on each other. Perhaps I've been uncouth in trying to fulfill this particular agenda, but I don't see how that could generate the level of dislike you're currently displaying. I am sick of older users treating whoever they don't like as punching bags. What is so wrong about that?--User:Brxbrx/sig 12:28, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- I blocked you at RationalWikiWiki because all you were accomplishing there was disruption. RWW is about documenting, and occasionally critiquing, RationalWiki. Dragging drama from RW to RWW accomplishes neither of those things. Furthermore, RWW is not about changing RationalWiki—no one is under any illusions that the place is a catalyst for reform. If you want to improve RW itself, then do so here. (Your support for the revamp of the Community Standards accomplished far more than any amount of bitching at RWW ever will.)
- And, yes, I'm fully aware of the irony of me saying, "Don't drag drama to RWW." I can say it now because I learned it the hard way. My advice to you is avoid all that, and stick to pushing for change here. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 18:52, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- When you criticize and comment on things that are going on at RW over on RWW, it's inevitable that drama will carry over. The only WIGOs that don't get reverted are the ones that have absolutely nothing to say about what is going on behind mainspace. And you know what? I'm pretty sure WIGOs are expected to be controversial. If you don't like it, you vote it down.
- Now, I've never used RWW to try and change RationalWiki, but I have used it to comment on RationalWiki. Naturally some of my comments were met with flaming and trolling and I admit that on many occasions I responded in kind (and I regret that). But my actions on RWW have never been out of line with the actions of others, except that my opinion differs from Ace's and Nutty's so they often take it out on me. You should try and make your own opinion of me instead of listening to them. Please unblock me from RationalWikiWiki that I may continue discussion of RationalWiki and even add some mainspace content (I do that too)--User:Brxbrx/sig 19:59, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- That's fucking hilarious and shows just how out of touch you are Brx. Stabby would never listen to me - me and him have a long acrimonious relationship. Much like me and Nx. If he doesn't like you it has nothing to do with me. Aceace 20:07, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- That doesn't show I'm out of touch. That shows I made an account circa February and he wasn't active at the time.--User:Brxbrx/sig 02:26, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

I am not looking for an argument but a discussion...[edit]
I am not sure how I feel about an editor using community resources and a community webspace (that members of the community have paid for...) to host their own private essays that are not covered by the same copyleft system as all of our other material. Why not post them on your own webspace, instead of "ours"? B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 21:55, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
|
- An excellent question, and one that puts things in perspective. My answer is thus:
- Because I won't be treating RationalWiki as a private hosting space, or as a dumping ground for private material. I would like to share things with the community, to participate with, as a part of, the community. But, at the same time, I remain uncomfortable giving up my rights over a particular essay.
- Of note, the community already used its resources and webspace to host a ton of copyrighted material. They remain hosted on this site, not because people think we're a dumping ground, but because the uploaders, in good faith, believe the material is of interest to the community. Being of interest to the community ultimately defines what material the community will host, rather than technical adherence to a particular copyleft system. - A more appropriate example would've been the RW-only licensed images of what a certain editor had for dinner that day. -- Nx / talk 09:56, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yah, I thought that, too, when I saw Weaseloid raise that same example. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 10:20, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

My response to the message you sent to me.[edit]
I'm an agnostic atheist because I'm unsure if God exists or not because I haven't seen any hard core evidence to believe in God. And I'm an antitheist because I currently think religion is detrimental to society, but If see further evidence for God, I will cease being an antitheist. Take care. Critical thinking and logic[edit]
Have you heard of critical thinking? No? Well you need to. Its the major thing your missing.
There i was, listing all the flaws in the freeman on the land page, and woosh, everything dissapeared as though it had been cencored by someone who owned the page and counts any form of criticism as vandalism.
Now i have to laugh.
HA HA HA, you fail sooo badly at logic, at critical thinking, your not reasoned. Your simply trying to bend the facts untill they say what you want them to say. For example:

- Wow, I'd completely forgotten about that one. And you must've been lurking a long time to remember that : ) Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 06:26, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- No, just intensively over a short period. :D Peter talk, or type, or whatever... 06:30, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Spaces around em dashes[edit]
The New York Times style manual says that spaces should be placed around em dashes when writing in such contexts as web-pages, since the spaces are used by the rendering engine as points of demarcation when inserting line breaks, etc. ListenerXTalkerX 07:06, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- Your premise is flawed: you assume I care what the New York Times has to say about this : ) But in all seriousness, the NYT Manual of Style is an exception—most American style guides say no spaces around em-dashes. Additionally, the NYT Manual also says to always use "Mr.," "Ms.," etc., in front of any surname. Are we going to start doing that, too? - Does the NYT Manual make any recommendations about the use of the terms "lulz," "bullshit," or "wingnuttery"? Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 07:20, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- The NYT Manual discourages the use of the term "bullshit" in favor of the more versatile "horseshit." Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 07:58, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- To be fair to LX he doesn't seem to be saying: "We should do X because the NYT says so." He's saying "I think we should do X because the NYT says there's a good technical reason for doing so."--BobSpring is sprung! 08:38, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

- For the screenshots, I fussed with the zoom on my phone to force the browser to render line breaks involving em-dashes. The em-dashes shown do not have spaces around them. I don't see any problems. Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 10:05, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
I have to tell you this here since you blocked me on RWW[edit]
That comment was left because the uploader has a history of looking down on me for being from ED. I was pointing out the irony of his using such memes. Now, please answer honestly: what has crawled up your ass? What the fuck is your problem with me? Did I run over your dog? I'm sorry I want people on RW to be civil to each other. Now leave me alone.--User:Brxbrx/sig 23:50, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

- You don't want people on RW to do anything but pay attention to you. I have a history of looking down on you because you're human garbage. If ED has anything to do with it it's because it's a place we all wish you'd return. 03:07, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- You don't "have" to do anything of the sort. Another course of action would be to take the hint, realize that RA/Stabby/Hans doesn't want to deal with you--or else he wouldn't have blocked you--and you could've gone somewhere else where people actually do want to deal with you and aren't sick of your shit.
