Replacement conspiracy theories[edit]
A semi-common type of conspiracy theory is that a celebrity or politician was replaced with a clone, double, or through technology, usually after death. The exact details of how the replacement was achieved don't matter, what does matter is that they were replaced. High profile people accused of being replaced include Paul McCartney, Avril Lavigne,[2] Hillary Clinton[3] Rudolf Hess[4] and Joe Biden.[5] Donald Marshall claimed the Illuminati, led by Queen Elizabeth, was going around cloning celebrities in secret bunkers after they died.[6]
