2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Delete[edit]

  1. Most of the page reads like a Zappa fan came by and wrote about his favourite musician. Now, I love Zappa as much as the next music lover, but do we really need a page on him? His (brief) testimony for the PMRC can be put in that page, and other than that, there's not much left... He was critical of the religious right; well, he and millions of other people. Did he every do anything noteworthy about it to deserve a page here? Carpetsmoker (talk) 23:42, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
You could say the same about the Beatles. CorruptUser (talk) 00:41, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
You should reconsider the article as it is now. Herr FüzzyCätPötätö (talk/stalk) 04:21, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
Most people didn't testify before Congress about it. ħumanUser talk:Human 04:24, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
Zappa was a civil libertarian of great intelligence, zeal and eloquence. Wish we'd had him longer.---Mona- (talk) 04:28, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

  1. True, millions were against the Religious right, but could they sing against it like Zappa? Typhoon (talk) 23:50, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
  2. Current article is missional. FuzzyCatPotato of the Deceptive Ropes (talk/stalk) 01:08, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
  3. Absolutely. It does not read like it was written by a fan of Mr. Zappa, it reads like it was written by an opponent of censorship. We do support opponents of censorship, I think. ħumanUser talk:Human 04:19, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
  4. Absolutely keep. He was in my pantheon of gods; well, he would be if I had them. If it needs work, do the work.---Mona- (talk) 04:24, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
  5. Keep. Certainly missional.--TheroadtoWiganPier (talk) 04:36, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
  6. People being musicians doesn't make them non-missional per se. 141.134.75.236 (talk) 07:09, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
  7. Keep: missional. Does humor belong in RW? Bongolian (talk) 07:20, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Goat[edit]

  1. Too biased to vote. If Zappa was alive, I, as a straight male, would be desperate to have his babies. CorruptUser (talk) 00:42, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
  2. Human's active did you ping him? There's a pile of music articles in funspace, fwiw - David Gerard (talk) 00:58, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
